Godly Empress Doctor Chapter 2 - Gifted Girl: Abandoned (2)
Previously on Godly Empress Doctor...
Five years had passed in the Northern Border City of the Junwu Empire.
“Master!!!”
Feng Wu let out a piercing cry as she sat bolt upright in her bed!
“Miss, Miss, are you alright —”
Qiuling, who served as her primary maid-in-waiting, hurried into the chamber. After placing a copper basin of water upon the washstand, she rushed to Feng Wu’s side.
In Qiuling’s eyes, her mistress—the fifth daughter of the clan—was a peerless beauty. Yet at this moment, the young lady’s face was devoid of all color, appearing as white as a sheet.
Heartbroken for her mistress, Qiuling asked in a soft, soothing tone, “Miss, did you have a nightmare?”
Gazing at Qiuling, Feng Wu’s consciousness slowly cleared as the past flooded back into her mind.
Zuo Qingyun had shattered her True Phoenix Blood, and to save her life, her master had fallen into a deep, unending slumber... That nightmare was no dream! It was the reality she had faced five years ago!
Following the destruction of her True Phoenix Blood, the once-renowned prodigy fell from grace, becoming the laughingstock of the Feng clan. Along with her stunning mother and her younger brother, she had been cast out and exiled to the dilapidated Feng family residence in Northern Border City, located at the very edge of the empire.
Qiuling brought over a pair of soft slippers for Feng Wu, then assisted her to the vanity to begin her morning preparations.
——
“Sister! Sister! A letter has arrived from the imperial capital!”
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed outside before a young boy burst into the room like a whirlwind.
Roughly twelve years of age, the boy possessed striking looks.
His complexion was as pale as snow and his features were finely carved. His eyes were particularly captivating—large, luminous, and framed by thick, curling lashes.
Before Feng Wu could utter a word, Feng Xiaoqi shoved a letter into her palm. “Sister, you have to read this right now!”
The envelope was a vibrant red, signifying a high-level alert. It was no wonder he was so frantic.
Despite Feng Xiaoqi’s panicked state, Feng Wu remained composed. With fingers as pale and delicate as white jade, she unfolded the parchment and scanned the contents quickly.
“Sister!” Feng Xiaoqi watched Feng Wu without blinking. As a small frown touched her brow, his anxiety spiked. “Is there trouble in the capital? Has something gone wrong?”
Qiuling stood by, her expression filled with equal parts curiosity and dread.
Feng Wu gestured with the letter and offered a faint smile. “It is nothing grave. Jun Linyuan is simply conducting an inspection tour of the border provinces.”
Qiuling gasped in astonishment, “Our Crown Prince? The most powerful and exalted figure in the entire empire is coming to this remote place?”
Feng Wu gave a nod. “Avoiding him should be simple enough. However, our main clan has been desperate to win back the Crown Prince’s favor. I suspect this means the family will be sending representatives here shortly.”
“What? What are we supposed to do?!” Feng Xiaoqi nearly leaped out of his skin. “We’ve already been exiled to this old house on the frontier! What more could they want? Do they intend to finish us off?!”
Feng Wu shot an annoyed glance at Feng Xiaoqi. “Control yourself!”
Feng Xiaoqi was so distressed he was on the verge of tears. “Sister, how can I stay calm? If you were still the person you used to be, we wouldn't care who showed up! You could deal with them with a flick of your wrist! But now... all your Cultivation has been destroyed!”
“Young Master!” Qiuling’s voice was sharper and more stern than ever before!
Realizing his blunder, Feng Xiaoqi immediately clamped his hands over his mouth. His eyes went wide as he looked at Feng Wu with deep guilt, wishing he could retract his words.
Feng Wu merely laughed softly. “So what if it is gone? Can your sister not find a way to restart her Cultivation?”
Feng Xiaoqi’s eyes brightened instantly. “Sister! Is that possible? Have you discovered a method?!”
Feng Wu shrugged her shoulders. “No, not yet.”
Feng Xiaoqi’s face fell immediately.
When she was sure no one was looking, a dark, pensive shadow crossed Feng Wu’s eyes.
Her ethereal master had informed her that to resume her Cultivation, she must first concoct the Nine Transformation Spirit Restoration Pill.
She possessed the recipe and the skill required for the refinement. However, she was missing one crucial component: the Immortal Spiritual Fruit.
Feng Wu had been tracking this Immortal Spiritual Fruit for five long years, and it was finally nearing maturity...
Furthermore, Feng Wu was well aware that the eldest and sixth children of the Feng family’s current generation were on their way. Once those two arrogant bullies arrived, her beautiful mother and innocent brother would suffer without her protection. Therefore, she had to secure that Immortal Spiritual Fruit immediately to restore her Cultivation!
Feng Wu tightened her grip into a firm fist.
