Erin returns after scouting and reports the discovery of three goblin cave entrances, raising suspicions about the rapid expansion or underestimated size of their network. Gabriel suspects outside help, possibly from Veylor's Chain, prompting Edgar to agree to question any captured members. As night falls, Edgar arrives, and the group prepares to observe the main entrance, sensing that the main transaction is imminent.

The smile on Edgar’s face instantly disappeared.

Erin fell silent as well. All three looked toward the crack in the rock wall.

At some point, several additional flames had appeared near the entrance that had previously been guarded by only two goblins. Immediately afterward, goblins began emerging from the crack one after another.

In total, they numbered about fifty.

These goblins were not wearing the heavy iron armor used by the frontline soldiers during the day. Their equipment was clearly lighter, with most carrying short spears and crossbows, and they maintained a certain distance between themselves as they moved.

’An escort unit.’ It wasn’t too hard for Gabriel to figure this out.

A little while later, eleven noticeably smaller figures finally appeared at the entrance.

Erin’s breathing instantly changed at the sight of the eleven children.

The oldest appeared no more than thirteen or fourteen years old, while the youngest was perhaps only six or seven. Every child’s hands were restrained in front of them by some kind of grayish black metal chain, and shackles around their ankles similarly restricted their movement. To prevent them from calling for help, strips of cloth had also been tied across their mouths.

Several of the children were clearly injured.

One very young boy could no longer even walk properly and had to be supported by an older girl beside him as they moved step by step in the middle of the group.

Subconsciously, Erin’s grip on her longbow grew tighter.

Creak.

An extremely faint sound rang out.

The bow itself actually trembled slightly beneath the force of her grip.

Edgar reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Don’t move."

"I know." Erin’s voice was very low, but there was no longer any emotion from before within it. Only coldness remained.

She knew she could not attack now. At least not while the children were still in the goblins’ hands.

Meanwhile, Gabriel continued observing the group. He was glad that all of them were still alive and none of them had gone missing, even though they seemed to be in very poor condition.

Immediately afterward, the black robed man who had appeared during the day also emerged from the crack.

And beside him, there were two other humans wearing the emblem of Veylor’s Chain.

One was responsible for checking the number of children.

The other opened a scroll and compared something against it.

"Eleven."

"The number is correct. Move."

There was no unnecessary conversation. The group quickly began moving towards the furthest southwest direction.

Only after the final goblin responsible for guarding the rear disappeared from sight did Gabriel stand on the branch.

"Keep your distance," he said.

"I know," Erin replied.

Edgar suddenly looked toward him.

"When are you planning to make your move?"

"After we see the people from the Holy Church."

"What if there are even more people at the transaction site?"

The corner of Gabriel’s mouth rose slightly.

"Wouldn’t that be even better?"

Edgar looked at his face.

Sure enough, still the same familiar madman.

The three figures quickly disappeared among the tree crowns.

...

The night grew darker.

The goblin group did not move quickly.

The eleven children severely restricted their speed, and with some of them injured, a journey that normally would not have taken even an hour required nearly two full hours.

Along the way, Erin’s eyes almost never left the children.

Several times, she could barely restrain herself from attacking directly.

Especially when one goblin kicked the injured boy to the ground because he was walking too slowly.

If Edgar had not raised his hand in advance to stop her, that goblin would already have been dead.

"Endure a little longer," Edgar whispered.

Erin merely nocked her arrow again without giving a reply.

Clearly, she had registered that goblin in her mind.

Another dozen or so minutes passed, and the terrain ahead finally began changing again.

The dense trees gradually became sparse.

In their place was a long, narrow valley surrounded by mountains.

Large quantities of vines grew along both sides of the valley. Viewed from high above or from a distance, it would have been almost impossible to discover that a traversable path was hidden here.

And at the deepest part of the valley, firelight was already visible.

Gabriel and the others stopped at that moment.

There were not as many people inside the valley as they had imagined.

More than a dozen enclosed wagons pulled by magical beasts were parked on both sides, while over forty members of Veylor’s Chain were scattered nearby. Most of them were not particularly high level. Only three people standing in the central area were truly worth paying attention to.

They were an extremely muscular bald man, an elderly man wearing gray mage robes, and lastly, a woman sitting on a wooden crate.

Gabriel’s gaze paused on the three for a moment before it went over the rest.

He didn’t find anyone from the Holy Church, at least not yet.

"They haven’t arrived, it seems," Edgar said as he noticed the same thing.

"That seems to be the case," Gabriel replied. "However, I’m sure they will show up any moment from now."

Below, the escort unit had already entered the valley.

The Veylor members responsible for the Fourth Transport Point immediately approached.

The woman sitting on the wooden crate finally stood.

"What took you so long?"

The black robed man from earlier frowned. "One of them couldn’t walk very fast."

The woman glanced toward the middle of the group.

"Which one?"

The black robed man pointed toward the injured little boy.

The woman walked over. She grabbed the boy’s chin and forcibly lifted his face.

The killing intent in Erin’s eyes almost became tangible.

Unfortunately, the woman noticed nothing and continued to examine the boy’s pupils and ears before glancing at the wound on his leg.

"Just a flesh wound. Well, it doesn’t matter. As long as they’re alive, the Church will be pleased."

She released her hand, causing the boy to collapse onto the ground, sitting on his butt.

"Load all of them into the wagons first."

Several Veylor members quickly approached.

Right at that moment, the sound of hooves suddenly came from the other side of the valley entrance.

Gabriel narrowed his eyes slightly and looked towards the disturbance.

Soon, several magical beasts resembling warhorses, their bodies completely covered in white scales, emerged from the darkness.

Behind them was a plain white carriage with a single golden sun engraved on each side of the carriage.

Upon seeing this, Erin’s body instantly tensed. The expression in Edgar’s eyes became completely cold as a faint trace of killing intent leaked out of his body.

They both recognized that symbol.

The Holy Church had finally arrived.
