Evelyn, the vice guild leader of Martial Palace, arrives at New Dawn with a surprise invitation. She offers one of Martial Palace's two slots to the upcoming Buried God's Tomb mission to Broken Dawn. Evelyn also relays a message that Liang, the guild leader, wishes to spar with Gabriel.

The meeting was convened not long after. Once everyone had assembled, the atmosphere in the room intensified, feeling heavier than before. Sophie stood at the forefront, the token still clutched in her hand, as others gradually took their positions.

Present were Ragnarok99, Sniperbowlegend, Samantha, followed by the necromancers Arnold, Casie, and Bunny, along with all the captains from the three divisions. Sarah occupied the far end, one leg casually crossed over the other, projecting an air of detachment as if the proceedings concerned her little. Nevertheless, the instant Sophie commenced speaking, all eyes in the room converged upon her.

"A visitor arrived from Tianlan," Sophie announced, elevating the token slightly for all to observe. "It was Evelyn, the second-in-command to Liang of the Martial Palace. She came alone, bearing this token. It signifies an invitation to an event known as the Buried God’s Tomb. Evelyn disclosed that there are merely ten invitation slots available, and the Martial Palace has secured two. One of these is being extended to us."

Upon hearing this, each individual straightened in their seats, their interest visibly piqued.

Sophie continued, maintaining her composed demeanor.

"The objective pertains to Tianlan, and the invitation is legitimate. I accepted it on Gabriel’s behalf, knowing he would have done the same. However, this does not necessitate an immediate departure. The ultimate decision rests solely with him."

A brief silence ensued, not born from disagreement, but from the collective realization of the immense value presented. Merely the mention of the Buried God’s Tomb was sufficient to ignite their imaginations. If the location truly offered only ten coveted spots and was accessible through influential factions like the Martial Palace, then the opportunity was far too precious to dismiss.

Sarah, who had remained silent until this point, finally voiced her thoughts.

"If Gabriel were present, he would undoubtedly go," she stated. Her voice was tranquil, yet devoid of any hesitation. "He would be quite displeased if any of you let such a chance slip by due to an unwillingness to make a decision."

Her words prompted a few individuals to glance her way. Ragnarok99 offered a slow nod. "She speaks the truth."

Arnold sighed, stroking his chin once before responding. "It's a complex situation. I comprehend Vice Leader Sophie's desire to await Gabriel's directive, but a place like that... the mere act of entering could yield rewards beyond a lifetime's accumulation for most."

Bunny crossed her arms, though her face radiated unmistakable excitement. "Precisely. If we forfeit this chance, he will surely be incensed later."

Sophie remained silent for a moment. She disliked the fact that Sarah's reasoning was sound, and the lingering gaze she directed at Sarah for a fraction of a second longer than necessary indicated this sentiment had not dissipated. Despite this, she was not so foolish as to dismiss valid logic simply because it originated from someone with whom she had a strained relationship.

A second later, a realization dawned upon her.

"The most efficient individual to contact Gabriel swiftly might very well be Scarlet," Sophie proposed. "If he remains in Stellar City, she—"

Sarah rose from her seat before Sophie could complete her sentence.

"I have a superior method," she interjected, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear with one hand. "You all continue your discussion. I shall go and find him myself."

Her tone carried that signature easy confidence, which invariably seemed to fray Sophie’s patience. Before anyone else could inquire about her intentions, Sarah had already turned and was heading towards the exit.

Sophie's gaze followed her movement.

The room remained silent for another beat, but Sarah offered no further explanation. She simply departed, and the door clicked shut behind her with a soft sound that, for reasons unexplainable, felt more irritating than it ought to have.

...

Far removed from New Dawn, Gabriel had already recalibrated his priorities. His initial intention was to return after finalizing matters in Stellar City. However, the moment the Buried God’s Tomb was mentioned, that plan underwent a significant alteration. With such an event looming, it was far more logical to maintain focus on it. To achieve this effectively, he needed to dispatch a message to his base, clarifying his potential extended absence.

He was still contemplating these matters when a powerful gust of wind swept through the chamber.

The curtains billowed inward dramatically. The very air seemed to shift. A familiar presence materialized so abruptly that Gabriel’s attention snapped instantaneously to its origin.

Seraphina stood there, fully transformed into her vampire form.

Her crimson eyes were starkly luminous in this state, her aura more profound, and the transition from mere air to physical form was executed with such seamlessness that she appeared to have materialized directly from the wind itself.

Gabriel experienced a flicker of genuine surprise, and before his thoughts could fully catch up, he blurted out,

"How did you find me?"

Seraphina offered a subtle smile, folding her arms beneath her chest. "Naturally, I did. We share a bond. Regardless of your location, I am capable of locating you."

Gabriel regarded her for a moment.

He found himself uncertain whether this revelation was comforting or unsettling. One facet of his being appreciated the sheer convenience of it. Another quietly noted the potential dangers such an ability could pose depending on the circumstances.

Seraphina seemed to catch the expression in his eyes and let out a soft scoff. "Don't pull that face at me. I'm here because your guild has been extended an invitation to something rather intriguing."

"My guild?" he echoed, the word leaving his lips.

She confirmed with a single nod and proceeded to enter the room further. "The Buried God's Tomb. An invitation has arrived, brought forth by one of the major guilds from Tianlan. Your associates held a council regarding this matter mere hours ago."

Gabriel's gaze became slightly more focused, his eyes narrowing.

'So, Broken Dawn has also received an invitation.'

This development introduced a layer of complexity to his plans.

For a brief period, the chamber fell silent as the implications of this information processed within his mind. He had the option to return and align with his own guild for the impending mission, which would maintain a certain cleanliness to his approach from one perspective. Alternatively, he could remain with ChaosKnight, leveraging that association to get nearer to IceQueen, while simultaneously advancing towards the same objective, the tomb. This dual strategy would allow him to achieve two goals with a single action.

Ultimately, driven by his characteristically practical mindset, a decision was reached.

"Inform them to proceed without my immediate presence. I shall rendezvous with them at the site when the appointed time arrives," he declared.

Sarah paused for a fleeting moment, then gave a nod, departing with evident reluctance, despite her desire to prolong their interaction.

"Well, there are still several days remaining until our departure for Tianlan. I might as well take advantage of this downtime to examine the orb," he mused, retrieving the memory fragments he had previously extracted from Torin Blackstar.
