Gabriel awoke in the Royal Capital's Ares District, reincarnated as a ragged beggar in the game world of Realm of Ascension. He reviewed his Level 0 status, confirming his God-Tier Extraction Talent despite pitiful stats and no skills or inventory. After washing at a fountain and giving part of his meager earnings to a shivering young beggar girl, he headed straight to the Adventurer's Guild despite his stench, only to face an interruption at the entrance.

Towering over 10 stories high, the Adventure Guild bore its prominent "Adventure Guild" signage. Dawn's gentle light had started spilling across the cityscape.

Even at this early hour, adventurers streamed in and out clutching quest parchments, while others—covered in blood and grime—returned inside to claim rewards for finished tasks.

Amid the revulsed stares from those around, Gabriel steadily approached the entrance.

"Ewww, what's that stench?"

"Did he crawl out of a sewer or what?"

Passing adventurers wrinkled their noses in disgust as Gabriel went by. Some even vomited their breakfast, and others shooed him off, assuming he was deranged and lost.

"Hey, shoo! Get lost!"

"Head to the landfill or sewer—anywhere away from us before you finish us off!"

Yet Gabriel's stride remained steady. He pressed on until reaching the double doors, then shoved them aside.

Before entering, a thunderous voice rang out from within.

"What the heck!"

Seconds later, the doors swung wide, exposing an armored guard pinching his nose.

"You... you don't belong here! Scram!" the guard bellowed, launching a fierce fist straight at Gabriel's face.

Facing the incoming blur of the punch, Gabriel's eyes sparked with a faint electric gleam.

The guard outmatched him in strength by far. A fight now would leave Gabriel battered. Still, he held an edge.

Unable to match power directly, he opted for a different tactic—a silent countdown in his mind.

"5... 4... 3... 2... 1!"

Right on schedule, the devastating blow hurtled toward his face like a mighty hammer—from the guard's view.

But it merely skimmed his chin. The guard's jaw dropped, eyes bulging in disbelief.

"I swear, I hit you! How are you still up?!"

Internally, Gabriel winced as his neck throbbed from the swift dodge to the side. Success came from pouring every ounce of effort into the final two seconds before impact.

This stemmed from trials and precise timing.

His 10 Agility points contributed as well.

Anyone else would have taken the full hit and snapped their neck.

The guard recovered swiftly and roared,

"You little rat! Are you deaf?! I told you to scram!"

He balled his fist for another strike, but a crisp female voice cut in sharply.

"Enough."

The guild's interior went still as light footsteps approached. Soon, a formally attired woman like an office clerk emerged. Her black hair tied in a ponytail, chocolate-brown eyes framed by thick lashes gleamed with intensity.

"What's happening here?" she asked authoritatively.

The guard snapped to attention, scowling still. "Miss Lilly, this dirty beggar wants in. I'm just clearing out the garbage!"

'This... the first key NPC,' Gabriel thought, identifying her as a top figure in the Adventurer's Guild and aide to the big boss.

'Known for her direct ways. Let's watch this unfold.'

Miss Lilly fixed her chocolate eyes on Gabriel, noting his tattered clothes, persistent odor, and above all—those sharp, fearless, scheming eyes.

'So quick.'

None of that caught her. It was his speed. Such agility belonged to elite adventurers.

That sparked her interest, prompting intervention.

She eyed the guard and sighed softly through her refined nostrils.

"Did he strike you?"

The guard faltered. "Well... no, but—"

"Did he violate guild rules?"

"No, h-he—"

Ignoring him, she faced Gabriel.

"What brings you here?"

"I came to register."

Silence hung briefly. Then chuckles burst from onlookers who'd gathered.

"Did he say register?!"

"Bahaha! Look at that guy! He'd drop in a goblin skirmish!"

"Maybe he aims to be a moving practice dummy."

The guard objected. "Miss, you can't mean it! This kid—"

A glare shut him up. "Do you doubt my judgment? If he seeks death, so be it. The guild accepts all. He lives or dies."

Gabriel grinned inwardly. 'Die?'

A perilous spark lit his steady gaze. 'Amusing...'

Registration flew by quickly. They noted his name, level, class: Gabriel Reyes, Class: None, Level 0.

Fee paid, he headed to the board, scanning quests—mostly beyond city limits.

Moments passed until an E-Rank quest with rich payout drew his eye.

In the Realm of Ascendancy, ranks spanned E to S.

Yet it demanded a trio party.

While pondering it...

"We need one more, right?"

A sleek, eerie voice broke in.

He turned to find a man and woman nearby.

The man smirked lazily, brown eyes twinkling slyly. Tall in dark armor, he exuded casual superiority that rang warnings in Gabriel's mind.

His companion contrasted sharply—quiet, aloof, face icy and impassive.

Her tight black bodysuit merged with shadows, silver eyes appraising him coldly.

'Them...' Gabriel's thoughts raced.

Recognition hit instantly.

This notorious duo, subtle killers targeting newbie Awakeners.

Countless players had perished by their hands.

Darius and Vera.

Both wielded potent talents.

Fear didn't grip Gabriel.

A faint smile curved his lips. "Looks like my first extraction talent targets have arrived."
