Chen Guan saves Ji Fenglie from his captors and reveals his intention to take him as a subordinate. Ji Fenglie, unwilling to be taken in, attacks Chen Guan with a powerful technique, but Chen Guan proves to be completely unharmed. Impressed and unnerved by Chen Guan's strength and invulnerability, Ji Fenglie attempts to escape, only to find Chen Guan easily keeping pace with him.

Ji Fenglie considered himself the foremost in Thunder Escape Technique, yet despite his best efforts and techniques, he could never shake off Chen Guan.

Every time he glanced back, Chen Guan hovered not far behind him, like a vengeful spirit haunting his steps.

Ji Fenglie was greatly alarmed, unable to defeat him in battle nor escape his pursuit; this man seemed ghostly, his strength immeasurable.

Yet, Ji Fenglie was a ruthless man who would not easily concede defeat, so he desperately used his escape technique, intending to engage in a war of attrition.

This method of exhausting movement required a large amount of Primordial Energy to perform the escape technique. He did not believe the opponent could have more energy than him, since he was extraordinarily gifted, and his Primordial Energy was naturally more abundant than most. Additionally, with the use of numerous heavenly treasures, his Primordial Energy limit was vastly superior, far exceeding that of a typical Ninth Awakening Peak.

The Secret Realm he controlled provided him with an immense amount of Primordial Energy, making it difficult for an ordinary cultivator to match him in endurance.

Unfortunately, his opponent was Chen Guan. No matter how explosively he released his energy, Chen Guan simply used Ghost Immortal Step to stay locked onto him, accelerating with the assistance of the Celestial Devil’s Disintegration Technique.

Even if Ji Fenglie fled to the ends of the earth, he could not escape Chen Guan.

The further Ji Fenglie ran, the worse his expression became. Eventually, he realized that the opponent’s Primordial Energy seemed inexhaustible, unable to be depleted.

Instead, it was he who was gradually drained; if this continued, he could lose even the ability to fight and become like meat on the chopping board, at the opponent’s mercy.

"This individual’s cultivation is incredibly high, reaching an unbelievable level. Even a Celestial King is no more than this. During the years of my imprisonment, how could such a formidable human emerge?" Ji Fenglie became more and more puzzled.

In the end, Ji Fenglie noticed Chen Guan persistently trailing behind him, accelerating when he sped up and slowing when he slowed down, blatantly toying with him. Their abilities seemed to not be on the same level at all.

"Why does someone like you cling to me?" Ji Fenglie panted heavily. If he continued to run, he feared he would collapse first.

He had come to believe that the other was indeed a strong being akin to the Celestial King, with strength beyond his own.

"I’ve already told you, I admire you and wish to have you join me," Chen Guan’s breathing remained steady, showing no signs of Primordial Energy exhaustion.

"I, Ji Fenglie, have roamed the world, not invincible but certainly a hero; I will never bow to anyone," said Ji Fenglie through gritted teeth.

"Heaven rewards the diligent; one day you’ll agree, and until then, I will remain by your side," Chen Guan said calmly.

"If you wish to follow, then follow. It’s none of my concern," Ji Fenglie snorted coldly.

"Of course it’s your concern. Until you agree to follow me, I will keep watch over you," Chen Guan responded.

"You want to torment me? If you think torturous methods will make me yield, you’re underestimating Ji Fenglie. Merely torturing me, even if you kill me, I won’t bat an eye," Ji Fenglie retorted disdainfully.

"No, I won’t torment you. You’re someone I value; in the future, you’ll become my right-hand man. How could I hurt one of my own?" Chen Guan smiled, adding, "Not only will I refrain from harming you, but I will also protect you."

"Starting now, I will protect you twenty-four hours a day, ensuring no one harms you, preventing any external interference. Of course, I will also stop you from hurting others and prevent you from embarking on risky ventures. You can live worry-free... I guarantee... even if a Celestial King comes... you won’t need to lift a finger... as long as I’m here... no one can harm you..."

"You..." Ji Fenglie’s brow twitched. He truly wasn’t afraid of Chen Guan torturing him, nor was he afraid of death.

But if Chen Guan really did watch him twenty-four hours a day, preventing him from doing anything, Ji Fenglie would indeed feel incredibly constrained.

However, he couldn’t beat him, and he couldn’t escape. Ji Fenglie didn’t know what to do.

He suddenly realized he had entirely fallen into this person’s pace and that his abilities and realm seemed beyond his own—he had no power to resist.

Ji Fenglie pondered and soon devised a plan: "I may not be a towering figure, but I certainly won’t be manipulated. If you truly want me in your ranks, it’s not impossible, but you must accomplish what I cannot. Then I will willingly follow you. Otherwise, I can achieve what you can; why should I follow you?"

"Alright, speak," said Chen Guan, who had some guesses but chose not to elaborate.

"Few people in this world catch my eye, among them the Celestial Kings. I admit I’m not their match. If you can kill any one of the Celestial Kings, I will swear to follow you, never to betray you in this life or the next, lest I die a terrible death," Ji Fenglie said, intentionally posing a challenge to Chen Guan.

No matter how formidable Chen Guan was, killing a Celestial King seemed as daunting as climbing the sky. Not to mention the sheer power of a Celestial King, but also the Ten Great Families were brimming with strong figures, not to be overrun by a mere few individuals.

The reason Ji Fenglie could suppress the Ji Family single-handedly was partly because of the absence of a Celestial King and also because Ji Fenglie originated from the Ji Family, understanding their scattered nature and knowing how to employ countermeasures.

With any other family, Ji Fenglie wouldn’t dare provoke them alone.

"Kill a Celestial King? Haha." Chen Guan burst out laughing again, his laughter wild and unrestrained, as if mocking Ji Fenglie’s ignorance.

"Bluffing won’t work on me. If you won’t kill a Celestial King, get out of my way and stop wasting my time," Ji Fenglie stated coldly.

"Killing one Celestial King isn’t enough; perhaps you should find out what kind of person I, the Great Demon, really am," Chen Guan boasted easily, trying to deceive.

"What? You’ve killed a Celestial King?" Ji Fenglie was somewhat surprised, hearing such a claim as if the Ten Celestial Kings were nothing to him.

"You wouldn’t believe me even if I told you. I’m Qing Bai, so you might as well investigate first," said Chen Guan, refusing to say more.

No matter what Ji Fenglie said, he remained silent and unresponsive, before instantly vanishing in a cloud of blood mist.

"I really want to see what kind of person you are," Ji Fenglie gritted his teeth, deciding to investigate this self-proclaimed Great Demon Qing Bai.

Ji Fenglie first teleported out of the Great Cave Heaven, and after a slight inquiry, he immediately found information about the Great Demon Qing Bai.

Upon reviewing the information, even Ji Fenglie was shocked.

This person had once invaded the Ancestral Court, forcing the Chief Judge to relocate it elsewhere, and it took the combined forces of the Ten Great Families and the Celestial Kings to render the Great Demon missing, his fate unknown.

If all this were true, then indeed, merely killing a single Celestial King wouldn’t suffice, because he had enmities with the Ten Great Families as well.

Furthermore, the Divine Land was rife with Ghost Daoist prophecies involving the Demon Child and Celestial King, with many believing the Demon Child referred to the Great Demon’s offspring—or perhaps it referred to the Great Demon himself.
