Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle Chapter 1195: Merlin’s Spell
Previously on Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle...
The clash in the marketplace had already drawn a huge crowd...
The news of mages battling against each other attracted so much attention and even the shelter owner became interested.
On the other hand, Rain Veynar, humiliated by Alex’s overwhelming counterattack, was barely able to go back to his feet.
His robes were scorched, his pride had been shattered, but he didn’t give up. As a matter of fact, his fury burned hotter than ever.
"You think this is over?" Rain spat, his voice was now trembling with rage.
"I’ll show you the true power of my clan!"
He raised his staff again, and soon, mana started gathering violently.
The cobblestones beneath him even began to crack as he chanted a spell...

Meanwhile, Raze couldn’t help but feel greatly surprised by this development. She just realized that there were several more mages around watching the battle unfold.
Right now, she had to ensure that Merlin and Alex would be able to get through this without any significant injury...
Soon, she borrowed Roan’s power as her pupils changed form into a dragon.
If Merlin and the two were about to get ambushed, she wouldn’t hesitate to act...
Still, she watched as Rain started weaving a spell meant to crush Alex outright.
But Alex, though drained, stood firm. His training under Merlin had taught him not to waver when being pressured by Mana...
"You’re not even close to Master! Just shut up and bring it on!" Alex shouted as he steadied his mana... After stabilizing his power, mana also started gathering around him like embers refusing to die.
Then, Rain unleashed a torrent of raw energy, a chaotic blast that tore through the air.
Boom!
Alex braced himself, channeling lightning and flame together.
Whom~
His barrier formed and soon, it absorbed the brunt of the attack, then it shattered outward in a fiery backlash that sent Rain sprawling once more!
"Aacck!"
The crowd gasped.
Alex’s mana reserves were clearly strained, but his combat technique was just too good, his timing was impeccable.
He had fought not with brute force, but with great tactics! It was exactly as Merlin had drilled into him.
Rain coughed, struggling to rise.
His guards finally rushed to his side, but Alex raised his staff, lightning sparking at its tip.
"Stay back," he warned, his voice was already weak due to exhaustion.
The guards hesitated as fear crept into their eyes. They couldn’t let this young master get injured even further. However, they also couldn’t disobey him.
Thankfully, the Veynar family had finally noticed the situation, and just like that, more figures arrived. Several men in familiar Veynar Clan robes pushed through the crowd.
Their presence brought silence to the crowd that was getting a little too excited.
Well, they were mages... allies of Rain Veynar.
They soon observed the situation and realized what was happening. They saw their comrade defeated, and without hesitation, they moved to surround Merlin and Alex.
"Capture them," one ordered coldly. "No outsider humiliates our clan and walks away."
The crowd murmured nervously.
Town guards looked on but did not intervene, unwilling to challenge the clan’s authority.
Alex tightened his grip on his staff, ready to fight again, but Merlin finally stepped forward.
"That’s enough..."
Then, Merlin’s aura flared. He was calm yet overwhelming, silencing the square.
"It’s also time for you all to take your friend and stay out of my sight... " he said, his voice carrying like thunder.
The approaching mages faltered, suddenly aware of the vast gulf between their power and his.
However, they couldn’t just leave them alone.
As they started gathering mana to fight back against the old mage, Merlin made his move.
He did not attack them outright. Instead, with a simple gesture, he released a wave of force... It was not destructive, but irresistible.
The mages were pushed back, stumbling as though struck by an invisible wall. Their spells then fizzled before they could even form.
"You mistake restraint for weakness," Merlin said evenly. "I will not harm you. But I will not tolerate arrogance."
Rain, still on the ground, snarled. "You... you’ll regret this!"
Merlin’s eyes narrowed. He raised his staff, and a dark shimmer of mana coiled around Rain.
It was also the first time Alex saw his master cast this spell!
Then, the arrogant mage froze, his body trembled as the spell took hold.
"A curse," Merlin intoned. "You will never practice magic again. Your greed has cost you everything."
Rain screamed, clutching his chest as the curse sank into him.
His aura tried to fight it back but then, it died completely. The crowd gasped, realizing what had just happened.
Rain Veynar, once a proud mage, had been stripped of his talent in an instant!
Merlin lowered his staff, his expression calm. "This shelter is not welcoming to us. We will leave."
Then, he looked at the rest of the mages, thinking of blocking their path...
"You should realize that even your Elven teachers weren’t attacking me despite the commotion that’s happening. That should already tell you what you shouldn’t do."
The crowd and the mages were stunned.
After all, for the crowd, they had no idea that the mages had teachers in the form of Elves... Then, for the mages, they were speechless as what Merlin said was true!
The Little Rock Shelter had several Elves on its side. They were not just teachers, they were basically the core of their clan, allowing them to practice magic and teach their children how to use mana...
For them, the elves were the strongest mages out there!
The Veynar Clan believed that if someone from the elves or if they worked together, the old mage would be captured easily.
But since their teachers weren’t making their move, they either believed that the clan could capture the old mage or perhaps, they really didn’t want to mess with him!
"I guess you just realized that your teachers were merely trying to use you to know my level of strength. Disappointing, isn’t it?" Merlin said, mocking them even further.
Alex looked at him, still catching his breath. "Master... after all that, we’re just leaving?"
Merlin nodded. "Strength is not proven by how many you kill. It is proven by knowing when to walk away."
There was no need to sentence so many people to death...
Destroying Rain’s chance of being able to practice magic again was already satisfying.
"I understand, Master Merlin." Alex replied.
Together, the master and apprentice turned from the stunned crowd.
The clan mages dared not pursue, shaken by Merlin’s effortless display of power.

From a distance, Raze watched everything unfold...
At this point, she had already retracted her draconic powers as she no longer needed it.
She had seen Alex’s growth, Rain’s humiliation, and Merlin’s terrifying restraint.
Even she was stunned by the curse... a spell that stripped a mage of his very essence.
"Amazing..."
"Merlin... Maybe he’s really Shane’s grandfather..." she whispered, recalling Shane’s words.
"Now... Where did these two go?" Raze wryly smiled as she sent Alex a private message to ask about his whereabouts.
After sending a message, Raze also turned to look at the elves who had been shadowing Merlin. Obviously, they were rattled by Merlin’s performance.
Even if they were hidden in the crowd, Raze could tell what was going on their heads based on the emotions they couldn’t hide.
Then, when Merlin and Alex reached the edge of the shelter, their forms glowed... and then vanished completely.
"Teleportation?!" one of the elves gasped.
They had expected Merlin to walk away, but instead, he had disappeared from sight entirely, taking Alex with him.
The elves stood frozen, confused and wary of what had just happened.
Raze exhaled, her heart pounding.
She had seen enough to know that Merlin was not a man to be underestimated.
His memories might be fragmented, but his instincts, his power, and his authority were intact.
"That’s super cool... So you can use something like that."
As the crowd dispersed, whispers filled the air.
Rain Veynar lay broken, stripped of his magic, his clan humiliated.
The shelter’s people would remember this day... the day an old mage and his apprentice defied arrogance and walked away untouched.

Outside the shelter, far beyond the walls, Merlin and Alex reappeared on a quiet rooftop of a building...
Alex looked at his master, awe in his eyes. "Master... Is that really teleportation?!"
"It’s quite similar... Why?"
"T-that’s awesome! Can you teach me? Please... master," Alex begged.
At this point, he didn’t care about the curse that Merlin used to destroy the future trouble. He was more interested in that teleportation!
Just imagining himself disappearing and reappearing in another place made him really excited.
"I can teach you that once you get stronger... This spell is harder to learn than the curse I used." Merlin replied.
"Urgh... Should I learn the curse spell first? That guy looked so defeated." Alex muttered.
"He was reckless. Greed destroys mages faster than any enemy. Better he learn humility now than destroy himself later."
Alex nodded slowly, realizing the weight of his master’s words.
However, as he was about to ask Merlin again, he noticed that they weren’t just on a rooftop!
"W-what... Isn’t this the Floating Fortress?!"
