Ghost Emperor Wild Wife: Dandy Eldest Miss Chapter 4: Yun Familys Eldest Miss (4)

Previously on Ghost Emperor Wild Wife: Dandy Eldest Miss...
Yun Luofeng confronts her grandfather, General Yun Luo, about his neglect during her hardships, starkly highlighting the absence of familial support throughout her childhood. As she voices the resentment of her past, a transformative release follows, allowing her to express the hurt of being parentless and overlooked. Yun Luo, stricken with guilt, recognizes his flaws in prioritizing duty over family, understanding the pain he has caused. The confrontation leaves both feeling the weight of their shared history, with Yun Luo collapsing back, weary and regretful as Yun Luofeng departs, leaving behind a lingering sense of unresolved tension.

A hidden door within the study creaked open, and a man seated in a wheelchair glided toward Yun Luo’s side.

He was a man of refined and scholarly appearance, though his features were tinged with a faint melancholy. His complexion was a sickly, translucent white, appearing so fragile that one might expect him to collapse at any moment. To look upon him was to feel a sense of profound pity. It was a tragedy that such an elegant and composed man was bound to a wheelchair; his physical disabilities and frail health made it seem as though he were incapable of bearing any heavy burden.

"Father, you departed when she was only four, so you are unaware of the many indignities she has endured through the years. As her uncle, I was unable to step forward to protect or defend her. This has molded her into the detached young woman she is today."

The man’s voice possessed the quality of sweet spring water, remarkably crisp and refreshing.

However, had any outsiders been present to hear the way this man addressed Yun Luo, they would have been struck with absolute disbelief.

It was common knowledge that the formidable General Yun Luo had sired only two sons. In the past, one sibling had been even more brilliant than the other: the Yun Family’s second young master, Yun Qingya. By the tender age of fifteen, he had already attained the peak of a middle-level spirit cultivator, standing on the very threshold of breaking through to become a high-level spirit cultivator.

In the Kingdom of Longyuan, only two high-level spirit cultivators were known to exist: the great General Yun Luo himself and a hidden expert belonging to the imperial family.

Yet, it had taken both of those men forty years of arduous Cultivation to finally overcome the bottleneck of a high-level spirit cultivator.

In contrast, Yun Qingya had reached that brink when he was merely fifteen!

To become a peak-rank middle-level spirit cultivator at twelve was an achievement that would make anyone swell with pride. However, the youthful Yun Qingya, having achieved such lofty ambitions so early, seemed to forget the old adage: the tree that towers above the forest is the first to be destroyed by the wind.

During a certain competition, he triumphed over an opponent, only to ignite the murderous fury of that rival’s clan. Ultimately, he was forced off a mountain precipice. No one could have guessed that the supposedly deceased Yun Qingya was actually still breathing!

"Qingya, you have also endured much suffering during these years." Yun Luo sighed with a bitter laugh, his voice heavy with guilt as he spoke. "If it weren't for the sake of the Yun Family, you wouldn't be forced into hiding. That power is simply too formidable. If they discovered you were still alive, they would never let you go, nor would they show mercy to the rest of the Yun Family."

Yun Qingya cast his eyes downward, masking the sorrow reflected in them. He spoke in a detached, tranquil tone: "Even if I am alive, what does it matter? My current existence is no different from death. My strength has been stripped away, and I can only linger on in this crippled body, living like a ghost. My own niece is subjected to public humiliation, yet I cannot step out to assist her. Had this been a decade ago, no one would have dared to harm Little Feng’er even if you and I were absent. But now, to preserve the Yun Family, I must ensure no one learns I survived."

Years ago, while being hunted by those determined to see him dead, he had dragged his shattered body away and managed to escape. Within a day, reports of his demise were circulated, but his enemies remained skeptical. They dispatched agents to watch the Yun Family constantly. Consequently, he retreated into the secret chamber. Once he went into hiding, he remained there for over ten years.

Spending more than a decade in a sunless, dark environment had done nothing to aid his recovery; it had only exacerbated his condition.

What drove him to even deeper despair was the fact that his Soul Realm had been obliterated during his flight from his pursuers. His Cultivation had vanished, leaving him unable to ever practice again.

Had it not been for the fact that his father had already lost his eldest son—and the knowledge that the old man could not survive burying another child—perhaps he would have ended his misery and departed from this world long ago.

"Qingya," Yun Luo said after a long silence, moved by his son's words, "even if the world cannot know you live, Little Feng’er is still your niece. Now that she has reached adulthood, it is time she learned of the existence of her uncle."
