Charlotte is deeply affectionate with Brandon, clinging to him and expressing her happiness at being reunited. Meanwhile, Amelia and Freya return home and are greeted by Elize. Brandon brings Charlotte downstairs, and Amelia and Florence step outside to talk privately. Upstairs in the Divine Realm, Elder Divinities debate how to entertain a visiting Higher Divinity, ultimately deciding on a tournament featuring their Apostles, a decision that secretly excites Azyrth as a chance for revenge.

Brandon carefully loosened his hold and set Charlotte down on the floor of her room, looking into her yellow eyes.

A faint blush crept over her cheeks as she looked up at him and let out a soft, slightly exasperated breath.

"...That one is always so excessive," she muttered. "She really has no restraint at all."

With a chuckle, Brandon leaned down and wrapped his arms around her.

She leaned into the hug without hesitation, resting her forehead against his shoulder for a moment before lifting her face again.

Brandon pressed a soft kiss to her temple.

Charlotte’s lips curved faintly.

She tilted her head and returned the affection, placing a gentle kiss against his cheek, then another kiss closer to the corner of his mouth.

Her arms slid up around his neck as she pressed herself lightly against him, "...You’re too soft with her," she murmured against his skin.

"That’s why she gets so carried away."

Brandon leaned in and softly pressed his lips against hers.

She kissed him back at once, and her arms tightened around his neck as she tilted her head slightly to deepen the contact before she gently sucked on his lower lip, holding it for a moment as if savoring the feeling.

A soft breath escaped her lips when she finally released it, only to kiss him again.

"...My real personality is finally coming back."

Brandon’s hands tightened slightly on her waist.

She kissed him once more, "The original me who was killed by Azyrth. She’s been buried for so long, but I can feel her recovering."

She leaned in and pressed another slow kiss against his lips, sucking gently on the lower one for a moment before releasing it.

"And now that the other personalities have settled... she’s finally strong enough to come back."

"Once she returns completely... I guess only she will be there."

His gaze condensed slightly "No, I will tell her to switch with you often. We can still spend some time."

For a second, Charlotte simply looked at him. Then a faint smile curved her lips.

She glanced down at his lips with quiet affection. "...You will, right? If you don’t, Big Sister will be very mad."

She leaned in a little closer, her breath brushing against his lips.

Chuckling, he pecked her lips "I’ll make sure she switches."

Her fingers curled lightly into the back of his shirt.

"Even if I only get to come out sometimes... as long as I can still see you... it’s enough."

"So... I’ll hold you to that promise, Kael."

Late Afternoon

Outside, the sunlight filtered softly through the leaves of the large tree, casting shifting patterns of shade across the grass.

Brandon was sitting with his back against the trunk, one arm resting loosely over a raised knee.

Beside him, Freya sat close enough that her shoulder occasionally brushed against his as she watched the same scene he was watching.

A short distance away on the open grass, the girls were playing.

Selene’s bright voice rose above the others as she ran across the lawn, her long hair swaying behind her.

She was in the middle of some kind of chasing game, laughing freely every time she nearly caught one of the others or was nearly caught herself.

Freya rested her cheek lightly against her hand with a quiet smile on her lips.

"Feels like she’s gotten taller again," she said softly. "Every time I look at her, it feels like she’s grown a little more."

Brandon’s gaze stayed on Selene as she spun around and called out something toward the others.

"She has."

Freya’s eyes followed their daughter for a moment longer before shifting slightly toward the other girls running alongside her.

She looked at Eira and frowned slightly "Still feels strange thinking about the time paradox..."

Her voice was almost thoughtful, as she watched Eira laugh and dart across the grass with the others.

"She exists because of choices made centuries ago,"

"Because of us. Because of what we did back then."

Brandon remained leaning against the tree as he listened.

Freya’s gaze stayed on Eira a second longer before she exhaled softly.

"Sometimes I wonder how much of what we lived through was always meant to happen... and how much only exists because you appeared in that desert five hundred years ago."

She rested her hands lightly in her lap, still watching the girls play.

"If you had never been thrown into the past, none of this would be here. Not Selene... the Holy Land and not even the way the world awakened. And yet if none of it had happened, you wouldn’t have had a present to return to either."

A faint, complicated smile touched her lips "It’s a closed circle with no clean beginning. The more I think about it, the stranger it feels."

She was quiet for a moment, still watching the girls run across the grass. Then her gaze shifted slightly toward Brandon.

"It must have been really hard for you to live through it..."

Brandon ’s eyes followed Selene for a second longer before he answered.

"It was... harder than I expected."

Freya turned a little more toward him.

"At first I kept telling myself it was temporary," Brandon continued.

"And I just had to survive long enough to find a way back. But the longer I stayed, the clearer it became that there was no ’back’ in the way I originally thought. Everything I did there was already part of this present."

He exhaled quietly, resting one arm over his raised knee.

"And every time something good happened... some part of me wondered if I was only fulfilling a script that had already been written."

Freya was silent for a moment. Then she spoke more quietly.

"Do you regret it?"

Brandon shook his head "No. If I hadn’t gone through all of it, none of this would exist. You, Selene... and everyone."

He turned his head slightly to look at her "That’s why I want to get along with them."

Freya’s lips curved into a soft smile "You don’t need to ask twice."

She shifted closer and snuggled into his side, resting her head against his shoulder.

For a moment, neither of them spoke. The distant sound of the girls playing continued across the grass, mixed with the light rustle of leaves overhead.

Then Freya tilted her head slightly, brushing her nose near the side of his neck as she inhaled.

"...You smell like another woman."

Brandon glanced down at her.

Freya’s smile turned faintly mischievous as she reached up and pulled the front of her clothes lower, letting the fabric slip just enough to reveal the soft curve of her cleavage.

The sunlight filtering through the leaves caught on her skin as she looked up at him.

"Should I remove that scent for you?"

Brandon’s gaze dropped briefly to the exposed line of her chest before returning to her face.

"In the broad daylight? You’re getting bold."

With a faint blush, she replied "Obviously not... I meant in private."
