Mo Yaoyao, upset about something, is comforted by Zhou Ping, who buys her milk tea to cheer her up. They reconcile, agreeing not to tell the rest of the Zhou family what happened. Mo Yaoyao's winter vacation begins, and she is prepared for a day out by Zhou Ping.

Mo Yaoyao embarked on a journey to the Science and Technology Museum, while Zhou Ping continued his routine at work as per usual.

With both elder sisters absent and Mr. Zhou off to his company, Mrs. Zhou found herself alone at home. Unwilling to remain idle, upon receiving an invitation for a beauty treatment, she promptly departed for her appointment.

En route, her gaze landed upon Mo Yaoyao strolling by the roadside, engaged in lively conversation and laughter with a young man visible through the car window. Mrs. Zhou's excitement surged, prompting her to capture several photographs with her phone, firmly convinced that their Yaoyao had blossomed into adulthood and was secretly involved in a romantic relationship.

What roommate, nonsense! That’s clearly a boyfriend!

She refrained from mentioning her son, as he had already begun dutifully attending blind dates, even if each encounter ended after a single meeting – nevertheless, it still represented forward movement.

In contrast to her eldest daughter and Second Ms. Zhou, as the years progressed, one was nearing thirty-three, and the other thirty-one. The mere contemplation of this fact caused her hair to feel as though it were turning white.

It was a source of profound worry.

She resolved to dispatch the photographs to provoke her two daughters. Yaoyao was now dating, yet they remained unattached!

Acting on an immediate impulse, Mrs. Zhou swiftly transmitted the captured images to her eldest daughter and Second Ms. Zhou. The eldest daughter responded via WeChat, indicating she was in a meeting. Mrs. Zhou decided against further interruption; otherwise, her eldest daughter would undoubtedly have engaged her in conversation. It mattered little if she wasn't dating – Yaoyao certainly was!

Not long thereafter, Second Ms. Zhou initiated a video call, inquiring, “Mom, who is that fellow in the photograph? What is the meaning behind sending me this?”

Mrs. Zhou retorted with irritation, “What do I mean? I mean to encourage you to start dating too!”

Second Ms. Zhou: “So, is Yaoyao romantically involved with this gentleman?”

“I merely chanced upon them. How could it possibly be fabricated!”

“Very well, given your fervent state, I shall disconnect now.”

“Then when are you going to commence dating!?” Mrs. Zhou immediately followed up with an insistent query.

Second Ms. Zhou, suppressing laughter, responded, “I would pursue romance if I encountered a suitable partner, but as yet, I haven’t. Mom, now that Yaoyao is dating, our family finally has one. You ought to be pleased, correct? And perhaps you could ease your anxieties regarding us.”

“Nonsense, I am your mother, and maternal concern is my duty! If I do not fret, then who will?”

“Very well, very well, you fret. However, I must depart now; may I conclude this call?”

Mrs. Zhou, respecting her children’s professions, did not insist on a reply and promptly ended Second Ms. Zhou’s video call.

Following the disconnection, Second Ms. Zhou did not prolong her thoughts on the matter and resumed her work. However, approximately half an hour later, a recollection of the incident prompted her to call her brother.

Zhou Ping had just bid farewell to the head of the planning department who reported to him, and upon noticing the incoming call from his second sister, he answered.

Yet, the initial words uttered by his second sister were, “Yaoyao is dating, were you aware?”

“What??? ” Zhou Ping was utterly stunned, his temper igniting instantly. “What do you mean by dating? That is utterly implausible! If Yaoyao were to be dating, she would undoubtedly confide in me.” He maintained daily contact with the young lady; it was inconceivable for her to be romantically involved without offering even the slightest hint.

His tone was urgent, like exploding firecrackers, leaving Second Ms. Zhou momentarily speechless: “Why are you exhibiting such agitation? Merely because we are not engaged in romantic relationships, does that preclude Yaoyao from the possibility?”

“I am not agitated!”

“You claim not to be agitated? Then why are you raising your voice? I fear you might rupture my eardrums through this telephone line.” Second Ms. Zhou rolled her eyes heavenward in exasperation.

“Mind your own business regarding the volume of my voice!” Zhou Ping was now genuinely incensed. “Under what pretense are you asserting she is dating? Who conveyed this information to you?”

Observing her brother’s voice escalating in volume, Second Ms. Zhou remarked, “Did you perhaps ingest firecrackers?”
