The Broken Wing King, expecting an attack, revealed a formidable defense against mysterious shadows. Despite the shadows' initial assault, the King's allies, the Giant Horned King and Tusk King, along with numerous guards and magic traps, quickly turned the tide. The shadows were overwhelmed and forced into a desperate defense, though Leo Ray advised his allies not to intervene yet, sensing the shadows had a plan.

As far as the gaze could reach, not only the rank-and-file soldiers of the Giant Horned King but even those elite guards who were surrounding them all bore savage and menacing expressions, appearing exceedingly intimidating.

It was understandable, considering the guards present were all death warriors meticulously chosen by the Broken Wing King, their combat prowess far exceeding that of ordinary soldiers.

On the chaotic battlefield, hidden magical traps would periodically erupt, instantly engulfing any mysterious shadows caught unaware.

Before long, the remaining mysterious shadows found themselves cornered in the center by their opponents, leaving them with no recourse but to passively defend.

“Let me see the true faces of you worthless lot!”

The Tusk King, radiating hostility, swung a formidable flail, first crushing a mysterious shadow and its energy barrier to the ground. Then, he stomped on the opponent's chest and bent down to remove the mask.

However, what was revealed was merely a dull visage with carved features, its only moving parts being a pair of vacant eyes that seemed to contain embedded magic gems.

“So they’re just alchemy puppets?”

The Tusk King exclaimed in astonishment.

Upon hearing this, numerous Broken Wing Clan soldiers on the periphery rushed to examine the fallen mysterious shadows, confirming they were indeed alchemy puppets, not living adversaries.

Before the startled minions could process this revelation, the black-clad alchemy puppets, whether damaged on the ground or still engaged in combat, had their soulless eyes instantly glow scarlet as a turbulent surge of energy rapidly emanated from within.

“Not good, these things are about to self-destruct!”

The Giant Horned King and the Tusk King, along with their seasoned minions, being veterans of countless battles, immediately retreated at high speed upon perceiving the ominous change.

The other half-step Tier 7 minions reacted with equal swiftness, following suit and evacuating. Only the elite guards, who were a beat too slow in their reaction, were left to face the ferocious blast of explosive flames.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A volley of magical explosions once again reverberated through the heavens and earth, sending fireballs soaring skyward amidst the shrieks and groans of the unfortunate Broken Wing Clan soldiers.

Compared to the two preceding magical detonations, the scale of this explosion was noticeably diminished, leaving behind craters only a dozen meters in diameter.

For a moment, the entire vicinity was swathed in a tempest of smoke, dust, and uprooted vegetation. The searing waves of heat radiated outward, even making Leo Ray and his companions, positioned on the fringes of the battlefield, feel an intense, scorching pressure.

“These damned things! They used alchemy puppets to toy with us!”

The Giant Horned King cursed vehemently, his face contorted with fury. Despite his rapid escape, he had been affected to some degree, appearing rather disheveled.

Beside him, the Tusk King and the other minions also presented a dishevelled and grim appearance.

Even the usually composed Broken Wing King, surrounded by other inactive powerhouses and princes, exhibited a slight furrowing of his brow.

“Intriguing. These alchemy puppets were clearly engineered to emit an aura indistinguishable from that of living beings, which explains why the minions couldn't discern the truth initially,”

Leo Ray mused, nodding slightly as he continued to observe the unfolding events with composure.

Just as he had surmised, these mysterious shadows wouldn't have been subdued so easily, inflicting some degree of loss upon the Broken Wing King’s forces in the process.

Indeed, even Leo Ray himself did not possess half-step Tier 7 alchemy puppets, a testament to the significant backing these mysterious shadows clearly possessed.

“The true confrontation is likely yet to come. Having concluded their reconnaissance, these mysterious shadows will probably make their actual move amidst the current chaos. However, whether the Broken Wing King has prepared further countermeasures remains uncertain.”

Scarcely had Leo Ray entertained this thought when, as if on cue, an unexpected development occurred.

Those elite guards, who had either reacted faster or were fortunate enough to evade the brunt of the magical explosions, had barely a moment to recuperate before they clutched their throats and succumbed, collapsing to the ground.

Witnessing this, everyone exchanged bewildered glances.

It was common knowledge that these elite guards were encased in heavy armor, fully armed, and equipped with gear of Tier 5 or higher. Their defensive capabilities were extraordinarily robust, and with their energy barriers further enhancing their protection, even Tier 6 weapons might struggle to breach their defenses in a single strike.

Under such formidable protection, the fact that the guards all fell simultaneously without any visible signs of their armor being assaulted was exceptionally baffling.

It wasn't until several of the Broken Wing Clan soldiers, gasping for air as they rolled on the ground, managed to remove their helmets that everyone finally noticed.

Their faces contorted, turning a shade of purple-blue, much like overripe eggplants, with some individuals even beginning to foam at the mouth.

“It appears the recent magic explosion wasn’t solely an explosion; poison mist was also intermingled within,” Leo Ray swiftly discerned the clue, urgently channeling his energy to ascertain if he had been affected.

To silently breach the protection of an energy barrier, such poisoning techniques were far beyond the capabilities of an ordinary individual.

Fortunately, after a meticulous examination, Leo Ray confirmed his immunity, suggesting the perpetrator had intentionally controlled the poison mist’s dispersal radius.

In Leo Ray’s vicinity, the other allied powerhouses and monarchs also conducted self-checks, and upon finding themselves unharmed, they finally let out sighs of relief.

Conversely, the side aligned with the Broken Wing King descended into evident chaos.

A multitude of white-robed healers from the Broken Wing Clan hurried around the Broken Wing King, commencing a resonant chant, while their subordinates frantically ingested detoxification magic elixirs.

Following a series of purification spells, augmented by the magic elixirs, the lethal fog was finally dissipated.

However, in the ensuing moment, those elite guards, who had just managed to stand with ferocious expressions, did not even have the time to don their battle helmets before marks of blood appeared on their necks, causing them to once again stagger and fall.

Furthermore, the healers of the Broken Wing Clan who rushed to the scene met the same fate, their eyes rapidly becoming bloodshot as they collapsed with gasps, the blood from their necks swiftly dyeing their pristine white robes a vibrant crimson.

Until the very last unfortunate soul succumbed, a contingent of shadowy figures, radiating malevolence and killing intent, emerged from the darkness. Fresh blood dripped from the sharp points of their short swords, which gleamed with a piercing, cold light under the moonlight.

These mysterious shadows, numbering around a hundred, immediately revealed themselves and charged from all directions toward the Broken Wing King.

Given that the arriving healers and the surrounding elite guards had all fallen, and the Giant Horned King along with over twenty half-step Tier 7 subordinates were some distance away from the Broken Wing King, the Broken Wing King was currently defended only by a squad of Tier 6 guards and eight or nine half-step Tier 7 powerhouses.

In contrast, the mysterious shadows’ force still maintained a formidable presence with over thirty half-step Tier 7 powerhouses.

“Tch, do they really believe this can lay a hand on the Lonely King?” Leo Ray remained unperturbed by this sudden turn of events, a contorted yet serene smile gracing the corners of his lips.

Encircling him were still three absolute defense barriers of Giant City Level and two buffer defense barriers; even if a few hundred more hunters were to appear, they would scarcely be able to make a dent!

Nevertheless, just as the mysterious shadows neared the initial absolute defense barrier, the seemingly impenetrable defensive shield directly shattered, disintegrating into countless fragments of energy that dispersed into the air.

Not only that, but in the very next second, the third, and ultimately the last defensive barrier also crumbled one by one, instantly exposing the previously self-assured Broken Wing King to the hunters’ blades.

“What, what is happening?” Faced with this unforeseen development, for the first time, hints of emotion flickered across the Broken Wing King’s formerly impassive countenance, his eyes widening slightly.

In the subsequent moment, countless sharp flashes of blades, glinting with an icy coldness, were perilously close.
