Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2763: 1516: Ever-Changing Moments (Part 2)
Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Boosted by Sheila's power-up, Leo Ray's capabilities had already matched those of any half-step Seventh-order powerhouse. On the other hand, the foe's motions seemed markedly rigid, resembling a marionette, since the freshly infested 'Corrosion' hadn't completely mastered its host's form yet.
Noticing the enemy's uncoordinated maneuvers, as he directed Sheila to pin down the Fishman Parasite and geared up to smash the foe outright, yet another deadly silhouette plummeted from the sky.
This one was a massively built Bearman Parasite, hurling a Giant Sword straight toward him!
'This brute appears tremendously formidable; it's wiser to evade his peak power for now.'
Confronting the third Half-step Seventh-rank Parasite, Leo Ray opted against clashing head-on and instead nimbly evaded the deadly blade slicing down from overhead using his swift reactions.
The instant after, right as Leo Ray touched down steadily and just managed to steady his stance, a fierce wind burst forth in front, accompanied by a shrill whistle announcing the approach of arrows.
'Be careful, Lord!'
Luckily, Sheila promptly unleashed a volley of Elemental Bullets; though they didn't strike the oncoming arrows squarely, they altered their paths, making them skim perilously close to Leo Ray's Energy Barrier above.
'Yet another Half-step Seventh-rank Parasite exists; they're truly intent on slaying me at the earliest chance.'
Leo Ray bounded backward rapidly, attempting to put space between himself and the adversaries, beads of cold sweat trickling down his brow.
That shot earlier was incredibly potent; had it connected fully, my Energy Barrier could have been breached completely.
Shaken deep inside, Leo Ray turned his gaze to the fourth Parasite that had loosed the arrows.
It was also a newly parasitized Divine Stone General, her once attractive pale features now etched solely with brutality and iciness, her Giant Crossbow taut and set for the next volley.
'Amanda, the Divine Stone General? The one whispered to be a deposed Princess, the final Royal lineage, whose bolts' power and velocity even outstrip Curry's.'
While Leo Ray fixed his eyes on the fourth Half-step Seventh-rank Parasite, perspiration already dotted his forehead.
Teaming up with Sheila, taking on four seasoned Parasites of comparable power stretches us thin, particularly since the Energy in both Sheila and me is nearly exhausted.
'But two are freshly parasitized, so maybe a faint chance lingers.'
Leo Ray observed that Old Book and Curry were entangled in brutal clashes with two additional Centaur Parasites, giving a subtle nod, 'We must adhere to the strategy we outlined.'
While Leo Ray pondered this, the Fishman Parasite and Bearman Parasite, their visages twisted in malice, lunged once more from either flank!
'Sheila, do your best to keep them at bay!'
Without a second's delay, Leo Ray promptly triggered the Magical Scroll he'd readied in advance.
As Leo Ray channeled his Mana into it, a shimmering light-golden Magic Barrier swiftly unfurled, promptly enveloping the whole zone in front of the Temple, called the [Annihilation Array].
During earlier skirmishes against various Parasites, Leo Ray had covertly set off extra Extermination Array Scrolls, concealed in shadows to serve as anchors, whereas this particular Extermination Array Scroll held the central Array Eye.
'Tch, these pointless Scrolls once more.'
The Centaur Parasite obviously recalled Leo Ray employing this method back in the Void Space Fortress, voicing contempt, 'Just a lowly Tier 6 Scroll, how could it possibly threaten us?'
Once their haughty words echoed, the remaining Half-step Seventh-rank Parasites displayed similar derision, advancing anew, showing the restraint wasn't overly intense.
In the area enclosed by the Barrier, solely the ones lately battling regular Generals felt a strong impact, their actions clearly decelerating.
'It's the [Annihilation Array], Lord Brave has triggered the [Annihilation Array]!'
Temporarily pressed, our Generals received a surge in spirits, starting to hold their own against standard Parasites on even terms.
'Lord Brave arrived fully ready!'
Witnessing Leo Ray summon the golden glow, Old Book's gaze sparkled, filling his heart with renewed vigor.
Although the restraint on the Half-step Seventh-rank Parasites proved somewhat mild, it offered our Generals a spark of possibility!
'Hurry and overcome the foe to aid Lord Brave!'
Fired up inside, Old Book battled with greater ferocity, unleashing brilliant Holy Light Bullets and Holy Light Beams, sparking blast upon blast that boomed across the field, forcing the Centaur Parasite to yield ground repeatedly.
Still, the adversary was a Half-step Seventh-rank too, and despite the handicap, it couldn't be toppled swiftly in single combat.
Elsewhere, Curry held his own in a stalemate, toiling against yet another Centaur Parasite.
As our soldiers immersed themselves in savage fights against the foes, Leo Ray's position stayed especially dire.
Beneath the relentless assault from four Parasites, regardless of how fiercely Leo Ray and Sheila fought back, they remained utterly dominated, like a fragile vessel amid colossal swells, on the verge of total ruin.
Amid the furious fray, another issue gnawed at Leo Ray: the synergy among these four foes was astonishingly fluid, on par with his mental link to Sheila, surely orchestrated by 'Ruins Returner.'
Before, this hadn't stood out much against isolated Parasites, yet now amid mounting strain, it became the decisive burden.
Realizing this, even as Old Book and the rest grew desperately worried, the sly enemies chose to prolong the fight, rendering aid impossible.
'Vermin, get crushed!'
With a vicious roar, the Bearman Parasite unleashed a colossal sword beam from its Giant Sword, as strikes from the Fishman Parasite and Divine Stone General assailed from the sides, while yet another Divine Stone General sealed off Leo Ray's escape with savage arrows.
Right then, Leo Ray and Sheila found no path to withdraw.
In this dire instant, a small and delicate pink silhouette materialized next to Leo Ray, none other than Moli.
The moment Moli emerged, she seized Leo Ray and vanished from their spot, reappearing a hundred meters distant from the fray the very next instant.
'Apologies, Human Clan lad, I arrived tardily!'
Moli gave a firm nod to Leo Ray, her fair complexion brimming with gravity, yet she arched a brow with a touch of mischief, jesting, 'What's it like getting buried under pressure?'
It went without saying; she evidently recalled her own near-dismemberment by Wind Blades shortly before.
'This isn't the moment for banter; should I fall, the oaths I gave you become worthless.'
Leo Ray brushed the sweat off his brow, lacking time for more exchange as the four Parasites, eyes devoid of life, surged forward from every angle once again!
'Show me your capabilities!'
Moli wasted no time either, allying with Leo Ray and Sheila to face the quartet squarely.
Immediately, the heavens brimmed with Magical Glows, brutal sword auras, and Energy Arrows clashing violently in the warped void, reshaping the terrain profoundly, making the already crumpled space crumble in spots, fracturing like brittle panes to expose a shadowy, abyssal Void Space.
Thanks to Moli's potent entry plus the Annihilation Array's pressure, Leo Ray and his allies began slowly turning the tide from defense to offense, altering the battle's course surprisingly.
All at once, four additional Half-step Seventh-rank Parasites soared in from various sides, each sporting wicked grins, including one more Divine Stone General!
At present, aside from Curry, all three other Divine Stone Generals had become total thralls to the enemy.
Sensing the escalating dread and killing intent, the freshly rallied spirits of our side plunged straight to rock bottom, every face drained of color like the grave.
All those on site understood plainly that facing this horrifying array, our faction had forfeited its final chance.
