Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2748: 1508: Truth and Convergence (Part 2)

Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Crisis and her team faced a deadly siege from impostors masquerading as Leo Ray, Broy, and Grey Elder, bolstered by half-step Tier 7 experts and dozens of Tier 6 foes unleashing barrages of magical assaults. A crumbling Absolute Defense Barrier, gifted by the real Leo Ray, barely shielded them before shattering under a massive axe strike and a storm of javelins, arrows, and flames. In the moment of certain doom, a gray light enveloped the group, teleporting them to safety as the true Leo Ray and his allies, led by Moli's spatial magic, arrived just in time for a heartfelt reunion amid the chaos.

Confronting the group head-on, the impostor “Leo Ray” tilted his head, guiding a group of deceivers forward with a mocking grin, “The top Lord Brave, let’s see how you flee this time.”

“It looks like you’ve schemed for quite a while, managing to copy us so flawlessly.”

As another “version” of himself drew near, Leo Ray kept his face composed and remarked casually, “Where’s that Divine Stone General who attempted to divert us right from the start? Skulking away somewhere?”

Leo Ray posed this question casually to gauge the enemy’s setup as best he could.

Counting the first Divine Stone General Curry, I’ve run into counterfeit “Crisis,” “Fanny,” and that dwarf elf leader so far, adding up to four half-step Tier 7 powerhouses.

Throw in the bogus “me” and “Broy,” and the foes’ half-step Tier 7 count hits six, without even mentioning the Tier 6 fakes and parasites.

Under these conditions, even with our forces reassembled and a few Tier 7 aces in play, winning a straight-up clash against them seems nearly impossible.

Yet if these fakes share identities and number less than six, victory might hold a sliver more promise.

After all, these deceivers aren’t your typical parasites but some enigmatic beings we’ve never faced, capable of flawlessly copying looks, gear, and even auras that are tough to spot.

Speculation points to the enemies having a weird power for rapid shape-changing.

As for their deep knowledge of my Lord Brave role, it’s easy to figure out. “Corrosion” still lurks in Observation City, so snagging that intel isn’t hard.

Plus, thanks to the “Ruins Returner,” every “Corrosion” can share updates in real time.

“Divine Stone General? Insect, you searching for me?”

Suddenly, the phony “Leo Ray” flashed a wicked smirk, his form melting down like sludge into a gooey mass, shifting to a bunch of crystalline lumps in a half-clear solid goo, then twisting wildly with a gooey squelch.

In a flash, that half-clear solid goo reformed into a figure, showing the silhouette, tone of skin, and even arms and armor, matching the Divine Stone General Curry from the opening exactly!

Not just the fake “Leo Ray,” but the fake “Broy” beside him also squirmed playfully, swiftly morphing into the dwarf elf leader we met first.

For a second, the revived fake “Curry” and the dwarf elf leader’s gazes brimmed with scorn and derision, plainly taunting how Leo Ray’s crew had been toyed with like puppets.

“This is…?!”

Witnessing this eerie shifting display, all of us in the team couldn’t help but gape, hardly able to accept the sight unfolding.

Amid the shocked faces, only Moli froze at first, then burst out, “I get it, they’re shape-shifters! These ‘Corrosion’ infested the shape-shifters first, then borrowed their powers to turn into some of us!”

“A shape-shifter?”

Leo Ray creased his forehead, digging through his thoughts for any matching details.

In his homeland, it’s a faction wiped out ages ago during the Era of Blankness, leaving scant traces behind.

But as Moli pointed out, shape-shifters truly can shift into any of the Ten Thousand Clans, even nailing gear and auras spot-on.

“Just like these two, and that lump of crystalline stuff, the half-clear solid goo must be the shape-shifter’s true form, which lines up with the ‘Corrosion’ parasitic traits.”

“A shape-shifter taken over by ‘Corrosion’ is really troublesome, capable of concealing those clustered crystalline signs of infestation.”

“So, the reality is clear: the enemies aren’t regular parasites but shape-shifter ones, behind all our headaches.”

“Still, at least three things they can’t copy: the real self’s unique traits, the held trump cards, and personal memories.”

Leo Ray mulled this over inwardly, clenching Rolanddel tighter.

That means the foes basically field four half-step Tier 7s, while we’ve got Moli, Sheila, and my boosted self making three, and with the fresh Tier 7 ace, a reversal might still happen.

“Haha, it took real work to infest these well-hidden shape-shifters, but good thing we got here fast; else, how would we handle you Lord Braves?”

The fake “Curry” slyly echoed the original’s style, sneering icily.

With those words out, the fake “Curry’s” laughs grew wilder and bolder, “You’ve figured it out by now, this Fortress is our domain completely, your fights end in doom!”

As the fake “Curry” finished speaking, hordes of parasites surged from every side around us, featuring the earlier fake “Crisis” and “Fanny,” plus loads of city guard troops.

Those city guards yanked off their helmets, revealing crystals on brows, napes, and necks, exposing their parasite marks plainly.

From the signs, these guards were freshly infested, but each bore a savage, fearsome glare all the same.

On top of that, a barrier pulsing with dark foreboding glow hovered over us, obviously to block any more teleport escapes.

Taking in the view, the newly rescued Crisis and Fanny both pressed their lips, faces grim, hearts heavy with regret.

The enemies’ total might outstrips ours by multiples, locking us in a watertight trap, leaving zero chance to bust free in this setup.

It’s all because they tumbled into the fake “Lord’s” scheme that the true Lord got caught rescuing them!

“You’re my limbs, extensions of myself, so of course I won’t let foes rip you away without a fight.”

Catching Crisis and the rest’s feelings, Leo Ray offered a faint smile and added, “Don’t worry, have I ever shown up without a plan?”

At Leo Ray’s assurance, Crisis and others felt deep thanks beyond their shame, slowly shaking off the blame as they formed a tight shield around him once more.

“Shut it, death’s knocking and you’re still yapping.”

The fake “Curry’s” eyes sparked with lethal intent, swinging his massive axe as he barreled at us, radiating crushing kill-lust.

Trailing him, the dwarf elf leader and other melee Tier 6 fakes shadowed closely, sending waves of deadly pressure crashing through the shadowy drill yard.

Beyond that, the spell-casting parasites under fake “Crisis” and “Fanny” lifted their staves, torrents of mana swelling like a stormy ocean, zeroed right on our cluster’s heart.

In a blink, we stood like a tiny boat amid a raging gale, set to vanish into the storm any second.

Facing this, Crisis and the others’ brief calm shattered anew; this was a barrage from four half-step Tier 7s and hundreds of Tier 6s, too fierce for even a Tier 7 Protection Scroll to endure!

Right as the fatal spell glow was poised to erupt from the parasites’ wands and blast our way, out of nowhere, the smirking foes grabbed their skulls in agony, faces twisted in torment.

The Tier 6 ones endured somewhat, managing to stay upright, but Tier 5 and below hit the dirt instantly, thrashing in chaos.

“I told you, I never arrive without prep.”

Leo Ray tossed Crisis and the team a small grin, violet glow flaring in his hand.

“Now, the comeback starts.”
