Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2746: 1507: Unforeseeable Attack (Part 2)

Imagine yourself standing in Chris's place—where exactly would you head? Figuring that out makes it straightforward to pinpoint Chris's location.
"Hold on, right after making sure I was secure, my top priority became tracking down Chris and the rest, so by the same token, Chris and his team will surely exhaust all options to link up with me!"
This realization lit up Leo Ray's dark eyes, bringing a flash of clarity to his mind.
Thus, Chris's spot becomes obvious; they'd without doubt search for me close to the wall section I was guarding earlier!
With his thoughts now clear, Leo Ray wasted no time in explaining his conclusions to the nearby powerhouses.
"You human youngster, you're a true prodigy!"
Moli exclaimed with enthusiasm, "Spot on, they'll be right there for sure!"
The remaining powerhouses, including Broy, gave affirming nods, obviously backing Leo Ray's theory.
"No, Chris and his group are facing peril!"
Just as the group started buzzing with energy, Leo Ray gripped Moli's arm tightly in haste, "Hurry and transport us over now; if we delay, it'll be disastrous."
…
"Chris, do you really think the Lord is still by that initial city wall?"
Within a shadowy, cramped lane on the outskirts of the fortress's living quarters, the hefty Bruno sidled through and questioned Chris.
Nearby, a handful of Tier 6 powerhouses who had split off from Leo Ray kept vigilant watch, every one of them looking highly alert.
"The Lord is bound to be there!"
Chris affirmed with a solid nod in response.
Earlier, as Chris and her companions rushed up to the wall, they didn't encounter the expected flood of "Corrosion," but rather got ambushed from every angle by well-equipped city guards and parasites.
The assault came without warning, leaving Chris and the others unprepared. Luckily, she possessed the protective item Leo Ray had provided, swiftly deploying an Absolute Defense Barrier to fend off the initial onslaught temporarily.
That said, the Absolute Defense Barrier's power was short-lived, soon breaking apart, at which moment Chris triggered a Teleportation Scroll to whisk the surprised team away to a secluded area amid the city's structures, just managing to dodge the disaster.
At first glance, given the enemy's calculated lethal strike and disruptive tactics, Chris wouldn't have gotten away without harm even with those tools.
Yet recently, Leo Ray had handed over some fresh lifelines to Chris, enabling her squad to slip away from certain doom.
Those fresh lifelines consisted of multiple demigod-level Seventh Stage Magical Scrolls, such as the Absolute Defense Barrier and Teleport Scroll she deployed at the outset.
The origin of these Seventh Stage Scrolls came from Leo Ray enhancing his stock from the ancient Book, representing the initial set of Seventh Stage Scrolls he'd acquired.
That being noted, because of the drawn-out conflict between this realm's mighty warriors and "Corrosion," Tier 6 Scrolls had been used up in great numbers, and with vast regions badly eroded, resources grew rare, leading to just a handful of backup Tier 6 Scrolls—around ten—that Leo Ray managed to secure.
After reaching a brief safe haven, Chris and Fanny, still shaken amid their fear, understood the fortress had undoubtedly been seized by foes, spotting numerous Tier 6 or even Half-step Seventh-rank Parasites inside, and with no way to reach Leo Ray, they chose to hole up temporarily in the heart of the residential zone.
It was only after the nearby parasite guards thinned out that Chris and her allies stealthily shifted to the residential area's fringe, picking their goal as the vicinity of the wall where Leo Ray had first bolstered defenses, hoping to join forces with him.
"Chris has it correct; the Lord will absolutely hold position for us at that spot!"
Fanny agreed with a firm bob of her head, "Since the Lord has to have anticipated what we're thinking!"
Upon finishing her words, a determined look settled on Fanny's pale features.
Even though the Lord had first noticed something off with the Divine Stone General, who could've foreseen the whole fortress already under "Corrosion's" grip?
Still, pondering it now, how exactly did "Corrosion" quietly seize this well-fortified stronghold? It's beyond comprehension.
As doubts swirled in Fanny's mind, a quick-moving shadow dropped from overhead—it was the scout returning, the troll Vice Leader Cassie.
"Chris, Fanny, all the parasite guard squads around have pulled back!"
Cassie's azure visage held gravity as well, as he inclined his head toward the two primary Fairy Clan powerhouses.
"Perfect chance—keep pushing toward our target, aim to connect with the Lord as fast as possible!"
Chris and Fanny shared a look, spotting resolve in one another's gaze, then surged ahead without delay.
The rest of the powerhouses trailed right after, melting into blurs as they raced toward the wall.
Moving at full speed, Chris's team quickly exited the fortress's housing district, passed line after line of military camps, until the massive fortress walls loomed almost close enough to touch.
Right then, a faint yet recognizable call rang out abruptly from the drill field next to the camps.
"What...?"
Catching the unexpected noise, Chris and her companions halted abruptly, overcome with astonishment.
That feeble call rang familiar in their ears; it belonged to Leo Ray!
"This is bad—the Lord's in dire straits!"
Upon that insight, Chris and the others skipped further deliberation, sharply veering their path toward the voice's origin.
Moments later, in the wide expanse of the training ground, they truly spotted the near-death Leo Ray.
Around Leo Ray lay pools of blood; Grey Elder, Moli, Broy, along with various broken Alchemy Puppets, sprawled motionless.
Leo Ray himself, his features masked in blood, dragged himself ahead in agony, trailing a horrifying crimson path, clearly suffering severe wounds.
"Lord!"
Seeing this sight, Chris and Fanny rushed over tearfully, clutching Healing Scrolls and Magic Potions.
But the moment the frantic Chris and her group drew near to Leo Ray, his gore-streaked face contorted into a wicked smirk.
In an instant, the apparently frail "Leo Ray" exploded into action, a massive Giant Axe materializing in his hold as he swung viciously at the leading Chris and Fanny.
The strike hit without prelude, leaving Chris and Fanny unable to respond, forced to watch as the huge axe edge, bigger than their petite frames, hurtled at them, whipping up a deadly wind.
Boom!
A deafening burst of energy collision echoed as the Absolute Defense Barrier sprang up instinctively around Chris and Fanny, narrowly halting the blow.
As Leo Ray's base grew stronger, beyond Tier 6 gear, he distributed various crisis lifelines to his core followers, set to activate in dire times.
This spared Chris and Fanny from the fatal hit.
"You—you're not the Lord! The Lord never wields a Giant Axe, and he wouldn't flash such a horrifying grin!"
In the cold shock of having survived, a stunned Chris stared wide-eyed, demanding while falling back with Fanny, "Who exactly are you?"
The foe posing as "Leo Ray" offered no reply, his expression twisting further as the Giant Axe carved a lethal arc, striking with even greater speed!
Furthermore, the apparently dead "Grey Elder," "Moli," "Broy," and so on, copied the assault, bursting forth at the unprepared comrades from every side with killing blows.
