In the heart of the shadowy chamber overflowing with lethal aura, the massive silhouette's scarlet eyes abruptly snapped open, unleashing a violent wind that rushed forth, twisting and buckling the surrounding area of the hall in its path, which left the Witch Demon Leader underneath utterly shocked.
“My Lord, what’s going on?”
The Witch Demon Leader's features, etched with demonic symbols, showed clear bewilderment as he bowed and asked politely.
“I think I’ve detected a disturbing presence, likely from that foolish trespasser from before.”
The massive silhouette's crimson gaze tightened a bit as it replied.
“My Lord, do you mean that pink creature from decades back?”
The Witch Demon Leader thought for a moment, then swiftly dismissed it with a casual look, “Didn’t you trap that arrogant idiot in the Void Space with your space confinement when it tried to flee? Even as a half-step Tier 7, that cocky fool is surely finished.”
“That pink pest is incredibly cunning; it could have endured and concealed itself nearby, perhaps lurking in the darkness close by.”
The massive silhouette's tone brimmed with fierce murderous intent as it went on, “Yet even if it did pull through, so what? In my presence, its end is inevitable.”
“Heh heh, you speak the truth, with the mighty Lord standing guard, our position is unbreakable!”
The Witch Demon Leader seized the chance to praise, doing so with eager flattery.
“Has the Black Fog Blood Devouring Formation been prepared yet?”
The massive silhouette gave a small nod and asked once more.
“To answer my Lord, the array is rapidly drawing in death energy from the poisonous mist and is nearly finished. When it activates, every insect in this city will transform into undead spirits right away, and the stubborn spirits of the Broken Valley Alliance will get wiped out completely! The terror and hopelessness it collects will boost your strength immensely!”
The Witch Demon Leader laughed lightly, replying, “Have no fears, my Lord, those pests are already pinned down across the city by your spatial chaos, just like sheep awaiting the knife, with zero chance to break free!”
“Excellent, after we squash all those pests, I won’t overlook your efforts. At that point, the Human Clan and nearby Outer Region powers will be yours to command as you see fit.”
The massive silhouette nodded approvingly, stating it without much fuss.
“I am profoundly thankful, my Lord; this lowly one is forever in your debt!”
The Witch Demon Leader's expression lit up with delight, as he bobbed his head and bowed over and over.
…
Trapped inside the fissures of the Space Barrier, Leo Ray and the pink-hooded figure's robes billowed on their own, their incantation flowing steadily without pause.
The moment the swiftly rotating enormous array made contact with the sleek crystal surface, a streak of deep darkness suddenly seeped into the formerly clear crystal, like ink spilling across it, spreading quickly until the whole thing turned pitch black in an instant.
The array's golden glow and the crystal's dark hue clashed harshly, sparking a strong rejection that made them shudder and collide, sending faint ripples through the entire area.
In the midst of this wild resistance, the golden-radiant massive array pressed firmly against the Barrier Wall's smooth side, whirling even quicker, to the verge of being a blur.
As its speed picked up, the quaking of the whole space intensified sharply, leaving it hard to keep one's footing.
Seeing this unfold, Leo Ray couldn't help but crease his forehead deeply.
The disturbance was already quite loud; should it draw that demon over, things would turn critically bad.
After all, from the scenes shown on the crystal surface, their strong companions were still stuck in position, while the enemies stayed put, which surely pointed to them plotting some deadly trap.
“Relax, young one, remember the Space Barrier I set up covers everything here, crystal walls included, so no matter how much noise we make, it's tough for them to notice!”
The pink-hooded figure caught Leo Ray's concern and explained, “Stay sharp—the key instant is almost here!”
“Got it!”
Hearing that, Leo Ray pushed aside other thoughts, letting divine grace power pour out in surges, all channeling into the gold-and-gray woven spell array ahead of him.
With Leo Ray pouring in his full might, the airborne massive array, spinning at high speed, blazed with golden light, clearly taking control, before long sinking solidly into the crystal surface, dimming the darkness on it even more, while the outer views sharpened once again.
It wasn't long before the massive array had etched a hollow into the crystal surface, the dark sheen on it fading almost entirely, with tiny fractures appearing all over the crystal.
Crackling.
At last, accompanied by the sharp crack of breaking glass, the full crystal surface shattered apart, opening up a clear sight of the world beyond!
“We did it! Finally free from this damned spot!”
The pink-hooded figure's thrilled shout echoed as Leo Ray sensed a brief flash before his vision. When he looked, they had truly escaped the spatial rift, back in the open once more.
Right then, the area around them was still that grim mix of blood and blackness, yet Leo Ray let out a breath of relief all the same.
At least here, he knew full well that beyond the dense, heavy black mist above, warm sunlight poured down, and hope hadn't fully vanished!
“Lord, we're so glad to see you again! We lost touch with you moments ago, and it left us terribly anxious!”
Nearby, spotting Leo Ray return, Serena and Stella, caught beside a heap of bones, beamed with joy, their faces alight with thrill.
“No need to fret, I won't get caught up like that.”
Leo Ray gave a faint smile, signaling his followers to hold position, then quickly turned to the pink-hooded figure, “You’ve toiled greatly, Your Excellency, but as you can tell, the enemy’s spatial chaos lingers, and our people are scattered all through the city, hanging by a thread.”
“I know the lay of things, but once spatial chaos takes hold, clearing it fast is no easy task, particularly in this warped space setup.”
The pink-hooded figure's enthusiasm cooled off soon, giving a light nod, “Tearing down a puzzle is simple enough, but putting it back together? That's a real challenge. They won't give us the leisure for it.”
As the pink-hooded figure put it, not just Leo Ray and Xiao Jing, Little Jie, but Serena and Stella too wore grave expressions anew. Without rallying their forces, the peril wouldn't lift.
“Don't worry, though resetting the spatial chaos quickly is beyond me, there are still ways around it!”
The pink-hooded figure stood tall with assurance.
