As the Crown of the Undead drew closer, Leo Ray strode forward directly to greet him.
“Are you the leader of the Broken Valley Alliance, Guardian King Gary, Your Excellency?”
Leo Ray spoke first, extending his hand toward the other.
Earlier, Leo Ray had already learned more details about the Broken Valley Alliance from the unknown Stone Spirit, including details on this Crown of the Undead.
“Human Clan Excellency, you're too polite—just call me Gary.”
A raspy, aged voice rang out, and the elderly Gary, adorned with a weathered crown, inclined his head to Leo Ray. After a brief pause, he extended his own hand.
He was obviously pondering if his present condition still allowed him to follow standard human customs.
Yet Leo Ray’s steady and powerful grip had already reassured him: so long as the fire in his soul endured, he could pursue The Light even in this shape.
Sensing the intense heat from Leo Ray’s grasp, the aged Gary froze for an instant, then gripped Leo Ray’s hand firmly with his bony, scarred one.
A moment later, the crimson gleam in old Gary’s empty sockets dimmed, giving way to a soft azure light. He turned to the unfamiliar Stone Spirit and added, “Yoyo, it looks like you've pulled it off.”
“Grandpa! At last, I can see you once more!”
The Stone Spirit called Yoyo was already weeping, charging toward old Gary, who paused briefly, unsure if he'd scare her, before tenderly stroking her head with his bony fingers.
“Forgive me, Grandpa—at the start, Yoyo couldn't trigger the formation in time and got overwhelmed by those wicked foes, leading to my downfall.”
Yoyo the Stone Spirit’s frame shook nonstop, as though unleashing years of bottled-up bitterness and sorrow in one go.
Observing this heartfelt reunion between grandfather and granddaughter, Leo Ray gave a subtle nod; it appeared old Gary truly was the Stone Spirit’s master.
“It wasn't your doing—didn't Grandpa end up captured by them too, back then?”
Old Gary softly patted Yoyo’s shoulder, soothing her, “The key is the present, not what came before.”
With that, old Gary shifted his attention back to Leo Ray, unable to form expressions yet awkwardly grinning by shifting his jaw, “My apologies, Human Clan Excellency, you must think this amusing. All my descendants perished in combat or met grim ends, so upon stumbling upon Yoyo by chance, I've regarded her as my own granddaughter.”
Hearing this, Leo Ray just offered a warm smile and a nod, choosing not to disrupt their long-awaited reunion after a thousand years.
“Human Majesty, what precisely is happening here?”
Loris advanced, his lion mask blackened by battle smoke, brimming with bewilderment.
Evidently, his once plush and lustrous mane was now matted, with a broad section burned away, revealing the intensity of the fight.
“Is this the Guardian King Gary, former head of the Broken Valley Alliance?”
Sina approached too, her pale features equally clouded with confusion.
“Let me explain the circumstances.”
Leo Ray motioned for the pair to summon the key leaders and briefly outlined the sequence of events.
“So that's how it unfolded…”
Once Leo Ray finished his account, not just the primary leaders struggled to accept it—even Loris and Sina gaped in shock, slow to respond for quite some time.
Truly, this surpassed all expectations. Though utterly annihilated by the flow of ages, the mighty warriors of the Broken Valley Alliance had inscribed their grudge deeply, persisting even as terrifying undead.
For an instant, all present couldn't resist directing admiring looks at old Gary and the rest of the Broken Valley Alliance's powerhouses. Their unyielding spirit was what allowed us to shift the balance on our side during this Libra crisis.
In the midst of the wonder, gazes returned once more to Leo Ray.
Truth be told, had the Human Majesty not uncovered this promptly and triggered those inscriptions effectively, we'd probably still be doomed to ruin.
“Human Majesty, we've wiped out the Witch Demons and other undead entirely, and our injured martial powerhouses have gotten fitting care—so what's our next move?”
Sina steadied herself and asked Leo Ray again.
“Of course, we press on to assault the Witch Demon capital without delay; if the Witch Demons and undead from elsewhere rally, our position will stay gravely dangerous.”
Leo Ray showed no doubt, first affirming Sina with a nod, then addressing old Gary, “Old Chief, while we've eliminated the Witch Demons in this area, their main forces endure, and our window of opportunity shrinks fast.”
Then, Leo Ray concisely relayed the ongoing scenario and our standing to him.
“Those cursed Witch Demons dared to build a capital above ground? Transforming my old territory into a desolate foe's domain.”
Old Gary balled his fist and glanced at Sina and Loris, offering a slight nod, “Never thought elites from the Desert Alliance and Rainforest Fortress Alliance would join as well.”
At old Gary’s remark, Sina and Loris exchanged sheepish grins and offered greetings.
Notably, the Broken Valley Alliance had once reigned as a top third-class power; beside it, the fledgling Desert Alliance and Rainforest Fortress Alliance seemed as vulnerable as fresh-hatched Demon Beasts.
