Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2650: 1458: Toward Another Depth (Part 2)
Even before Sina could complete her sentence, a barrage of thunderous magical blasts exploded nearby, unleashing a ferocious torrent of energy shockwaves.
The noise prompted Leo Ray, along with the two commanders, to tighten their faces in alarm and hurry over to the disturbance.
Arriving on site, Leo Ray observed a massive crater gouged into the earth from the blast, littered with burnt remnants of limbs and corpses that continued to smoke faintly.
As Leo Ray and his group approached, a swamp fishman elder hurried up to Sina and informed her: “Forgive me, Lord Commander, my inadequate leadership caused two of our kin to trigger the foe’s magical snares!”
“This isn’t on you, hold positions, it appears this area remains riddled with fatal hazards!”
Sina dismissed it with a gesture, her brow furrowed in caution as she alerted the group.
At the same time, Leo Ray pulled out a bundle of Tier 6 detection scrolls, directing the nearby powerhouses to trigger them for inspection.
As expected, once the energy pulses spread, the shapes of countless magical snares materialized, packed tightly around where we stood.
During this, Leo Ray spotted more details.
With the debris finally settling, the true form of this subterranean chamber came into view.
Evidently, the floor was laid with orderly bricks, matching the walls, showing it wasn’t a natural cave but an old, weathered underground metropolis.
Furthermore, the carvings etched into the walls clearly marked it as not from the Era of Blankness but from the coalition powers razed by the witch demon.
“Human Sovereign, traps infest this spot everywhere, we should head back topside right away!”
Sina’s grave tone rang out, and Loris added: “Exactly, by forming a magical staircase, getting back up won’t be an issue!”
“Agreed, let’s move on it now.”
Leo Ray signaled with his hand, and as Crisis and Fanny led, the earth-affinity experts started their incantations, soon crafting a wide, sturdy magical staircase that stretched swiftly upward.
Yet, when the magical staircase hit the midpoint, it halted sharply, leaving Crisis and the casters to share confused glances.
“Sovereign, some unseen force is obstructing the magic, we’ll investigate it.”
Crisis bowed to Leo Ray, then she and Fanny soared off toward the stalled point of the staircase.
However, upon approaching, both Crisis and Fanny’s pale features twisted in discomfort, their wing beats faltering, and only after descending to a safer height did they recover.
“Sovereign, the gravity imprisonment array lingers in the air, halting our progress completely.”
Fanny touched down once more in front of Leo Ray, her expression creased as she explained: “Yes, this gravity imprisonment array is what stopped the staircase from finishing!”
“That unseen obstruction turned out to be the abrupt gravity array—the enemy’s ploy is rather shrewd.”
Loris huffed disdainfully, adding: “Looks like breaking the gravity array comes first if we hope to reach the surface.”
“Yet this gravity array packs such immense power over a vast area; its core isn’t nearby—the foes must have schemed for ages.”
Sina lightly rubbed her pale jaw, musing: “Under these conditions, pinpointing and shattering the array’s core will prove incredibly tough.”
While the group pondered their options, a storm of endless bone spears and arrows rained down from above, engulfing our spot.
In particular, as they pierced the gravity array, those bone spears and arrows accelerated dramatically, striking us in mere moments!
Our powerhouses reacted on instinct to repel them, yet just like the earlier magical staircase, the gravity barrier repelled them effortlessly, keeping any from nearing the attackers.
Right away, intense murderous aura and dense necrotic power swelled, rattling the resolve of every powerhouse in our ranks.
From the roiling energy signatures, it was plain the enemy’s onslaughts all exceeded Tier 5, delivering deadly peril to our side!
“Lord’s Shelter!”
Following Leo Ray’s cue, Little Jie swiftly unfurled the invincible protective dome, bolstered tightly by our powerhouses’ combined efforts to sustain it, which just managed to fend off the enemy’s savage barrage.
Gazing upward, the ceiling teemed with witch demons and undead hordes, unleashing a relentless hail of bone spears and arrows that howled down without cease.
“The route we entered is sealed off entirely.”
Leo Ray eyed the faint glow of the protective dome above, then the shadowy voids of the underground city’s depths, declaring: “Our sole path now is to press deeper into the mystery.”
Leo Ray’s statement drew nods from both Sina and Loris.
Be it the gravity array or the assembling witch demons and undead overhead, the enemy’s scheme stood revealed.
They aimed to herd us into the underground city’s core, where a deadly trap likely awaited.
But with death looming, halting our advance meant the protective dome’s fall would spell total doom.
Thus, no matter the risks lurking ahead, this remained our only viable path.
“Those wretched fiends!”
Loris gripped his fists until they popped, then let go in resignation, mirroring Sina’s frustration as she joined Leo Ray in directing the clearance of forward magical snares.
In contrast to the two commanders, Leo Ray’s gaze stayed resolute like iron.
His decision to venture into this enigmatic underground city held vital purpose: locating the enfeebled Stone of God.
Given the unfolding events, that Stone of God likely stirred unintentionally amid the gravity array’s activation, possibly providing aid.
With no alternatives, we’d carve out a fresh possibility.
Soon enough, through our powerhouses’ unified work and the aid of advanced detection scrolls, the path’s magical snares were rapidly dismantled, pulling us beyond the enemy’s striking distance.
As we withdrew, the witch demons and undead above showed no pursuit, merely observing with icy detachment, confirming their follow-up scheme was in motion.
Once fully immersed in the alien underground city, Leo Ray realized.
This expanse stretched enormously, its corridors so expansive that our ten-thousand-strong force felt spacious, and without the standard-scale wall inscriptions, Leo Ray could have mistaken it for Titan Clan handiwork.
Though ancient and cracked across stones and floors with crude workmanship, in terms of grandeur, it rivaled Era of Blankness ruins.
“Human Sovereign, if I recall correctly, this capital zone fell last to the witch demon long ago, and after seizing it, the witch demon razed the surface city— who’d have guessed such a huge setup lay buried below.”
Sina’s lovely eyes sparkled with awe, exclaiming: “In those times, this alliance dominated all third-class powers; if preserved, it might have evolved into a mighty empire.”
“Pity they drew the witch demon’s wrath for unknown reasons.”
Loris gave a shrug and noted: “Ancient texts even claim their thirst for power roused the dormant witch demon, sealing their fate— prior to this, across the millennium before the Era of Blankness, the witch demon scarcely surfaced.”
“There’s clearly a hidden tale at play here.”
Leo Ray gave a subtle nod, fixing his sight on the passage’s far end.
