Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2640: 1453: Listening and Surprise

“The liches wasted no time after encircling the ministers, unleashing a barrage of lethal strikes where bone spears and explosive bone bursts erupted all around.”
“Even though the ministers and their companions were far weaker than their foes, the Tier 6 gear and powerful aces granted by Your Majesty allowed them to hold their ground right away, turning the clash into a balanced struggle against the enemies.”
“In particular, the Tier 6 Defense Scrolls given by Your Majesty ensured that even team members such as Lina stayed safe from the foes’ assaults, while they fired back with Tier 6 Attack Scrolls to stir up major problems for the adversaries.”
The aged eyes of Grey Elder brimmed with bewilderment as he delved deeper into the memory of that moment.
“Yet, the foes’ power proved too dominant in the end, and the ministers’ secret weapons were depleted swiftly.”
“As the liches pressed on with their brutal and vicious onslaughts amid wild cackles, the ministers’ side teetered on the brink of collapse, facing death at any instant, but then the liches’ assaults halted abruptly, and the undead under their command crumbled to the earth, turning back into mere skeletons.”
When Grey Elder reached this part, Leo Ray’s expression grew even more intrigued, and he voiced his astonishment, “Old President, does that mean the liches’ magic just lost its power out of nowhere?”
“Exactly, Your Majesty. The ministers felt utterly baffled upon noticing this, and the liches were downright shocked, having no clue what had just happened.”
Grey Elder inclined his head in deference, adding, “It was as if the whole battlefield had frozen in place, with endless bone spears raining from above—not aimed at our people, but straight at the liches who couldn’t respond in time.”
“Bombarded by those savage bone spears, and with no ability to cast spells anymore, the liches all dropped fast, bringing peace to the chaotic field.”
Yonir picked up the tale, going on, “Then, a well-known silhouette emerged in front of the ministers’ group, leaving them all slack-jawed.”
“Lord, the two Presidents weren’t the only ones taken aback; our subordinates were floored as well.”
Lina let out a light laugh in agreement.
“So, this known silhouette who appeared saved the day for everyone, and they all recognized who it was?”
Leo Ray looked from Grey Elder to Yonir and then to Lina, his surprise evident.
Beyond the shock, Leo Ray’s gaze sparked with insight as he pieced it together swiftly.
From what he recalled, the sole person linking all three at once and wielding undead sorcery had to be Frank, a survivor among the Nine Dragon-slaying Heroes of old.
After all, Frank shared a long-standing bond with Grey Elder and Yonir, fellow members of the Nine Dragon-slaying Heroes, and he had mentored Lina.
“It looks like Your Majesty has pieced together who it was.”
Yonir dipped his head toward Leo Ray, confirming, “Indeed, Frank stepped in to pull the ministers out of their dire straits.”
“Where’s he at now?”
A touch of eagerness crossed Leo Ray’s features as he pressed the question right away.
One had to remember, Frank stood as a mythic icon of the human race, and per Lina’s words, he could very well hold the key to reviving the Treant forest’s magic ley lines, much like Shuert.
On top of that, by aiding their forces in such a perilous pinch this time, a proper show of gratitude was in order, and bringing him into the fold would be the perfect outcome.
“To answer Your Majesty, let’s pick up from what followed those events.”
Yonir placed a hand over his chest in a bow, proceeding, “Once the lich ambush was thwarted, the ministers, still reeling in astonishment, skipped the thanks to Frank for the moment and summed up the full story briefly.”
“Having grasped the situation, he called forth a Siren Dead Spirit without delay, and in short order, he tore open a massive breach in that elaborate illusion domain.”
As Yonir spoke, Leo Ray gave a pensive nod.
The Siren Clan earned fame as the bane of illusions and excelled in such arts themselves. During his initial run-in with Nolan, he’d endured no small hardship from them.
And since Nolan apprenticed under Frank, it made sense for the master to command a Siren Dead Spirit.
While Leo Ray pondered this, Yonir’s weathered tone rang out once more.
“With Frank and the Siren Dead Spirit’s aid, the ministers pressed into the illusion domain, at last locating the Rainforest leader plus the other mighty Rainforest warriors with him, all stuck in separate spots inside and unable to budge even a step.”
“From there, things unfolded smoothly. Learning that fakes had directed the Rainforest Grand Army to assault Theta Fortress, the Rainforest leader and his group hurried back alongside the ministers.”
“On the field of battle, the foes at first denied everything, but the Rainforest leader’s hot-tempered nature led him to grab the chance and rip the fake apart, exposing the lich beneath, which let him swiftly reclaim command of the troops.”
“The whole affair turned into total mayhem during this, enabling a handful of liches to slip away in the uproar, as Frank gave immediate pursuit and hasn’t come back yet.”
Yonir wrapped up his account with a grin, “In the end, just as Your Majesty witnessed, the Rainforest Grand Army pulled back at full speed, lifting the threat from Theta Fortress.”
“Got it. This time, you all along with the esteemed Frank earned major merits. Once the lich threat is wiped out for good, rewards will flow based on contributions.”
Having absorbed the complete account of events, Leo Ray nodded to the group and added, “You’ve all worked tirelessly—my thanks.”
“Your Majesty overpraises us. Frank was the real hero in this. Who’d have thought we’d cross paths with this old comrade after so many years.”
Grey Elder ran a gentle hand over his snowy beard, his smile warm.
“Those liches are sly by nature. Let’s hope he makes it back without delay.”
Leo Ray drew in a steadying breath, concern flickering across his visage once again.
“No need to fret, Lord. My teacher counters liches and fellow necromancers like no other—he won’t come to harm easily.”
Noticing Leo Ray’s unease, Lina offered a reassuring smile, “It might not take long for teacher to return unharmed.”
“You’re right. When he does, I’ll make sure to honor this elder generously.”
At those words, the tension eased a bit from Leo Ray’s expression.
From the two Presidents’ recounting, Frank clearly had ways to counter liches, and after roaming the Outer Region for ages, he’d no doubt proceed with caution, steering clear of mishaps.
Right then, as Leo Ray mulled this over, a sturdy form soared in from the distance and landed promptly in front of him.
