“Your Excellency, please continue. I am listening.”
Leo Ray gave a slight nod, signaling for the other party to proceed with their explanation.
“I am referring to the three neighboring Shadow Markets that border my own jurisdiction.”
The Administrator’s voice was hurried, his words stumbling slightly as he spoke: “As Your Majesty is aware, the lands north of the Gleaming Rift Valley fall under the management of the second Shadow Market. Meanwhile, the third and fourth Shadow Markets respectively oversee the territories of the two alliance forces.”
Fanny, Hannel Tree, and Bruno all frowned at this revelation. It was the deceptive invitation issued by the Administrator of the second Shadow Market that had sparked the initial conflict over the mines.
Though they had ultimately turned a misfortune into a blessing by joining Leo Ray’s subordinates and strengthening their foundation, the ordeal had still cost them soldiers and dealt a blow to their collective power.
“In my humble opinion, Your Majesty, the only way to guarantee the successful launch of my market is to bring all the Administrators of these Secret Realm Markets under your control. Otherwise, given their deep ties with the influential figures in their respective lands, we cannot rule out the possibility of them committing sabotage out of pure envy.”
The Administrator’s voice continued to resonate through the hall as he made his stuttering plea: “Furthermore, Your Majesty will require a representative to facilitate coordination between the different markets…”
“I understand your point, Mr. Administrator. I have taken note of your hard work, and I am naturally prepared to let you lead all the markets.”
Leo Ray saw right through the man's hidden meaning and smiled: “What exactly does your organization require of me?”
“I am deeply grateful for Your Majesty’s confidence! In that case, I must ask Your Majesty to grace my location with your presence!”
Overjoyed, the Administrator bowed repeatedly in gratitude.
—
By the time the sun reached its zenith, a massive and imposing dark brown city manifested out of thin air in an open stretch of land near the Gleaming Rift Valley. It was the same Shadow Market Leo Ray had visited before.
Following the arrival of this grand city, three other massive urban centers of similar color and scale were teleported in one after another, surrounding the first.
The sight of four Secret Realm Markets appearing simultaneously was nothing short of breathtaking.
In the square before the Manager’s Castle, hundreds of Market Guards stood in disciplined ranks, radiating a powerful and intimidating presence.
These warriors were encased in heavy brown plate armor, their frames so robust that even their gauntlets were reinforced. Their faces were entirely hidden behind sealed helmets, adding a layer of mystery to their appearance.
Standing proudly at the center of this formation was a sturdy figure in brown armor etched with deep black engravings—the very same Administrator who had been speaking with Leo Ray.
“Sir, following your summons, the Administrators of the other three Shadow Markets have all requested teleportation clearance.”
A Market Guard Captain saluted as he reported to the Administrator. His own brown armor featured similar black patterns, though they were far less intricate than those of his superior.
“Excellent. Allow M to enter first. Tell L and K to remain on standby.”
With Leo Ray backing him, the Administrator—despite holding the lowest rank—exuded a newfound sense of calm and authority as he nodded to his subordinate.
“By your command, sir.”
The Guard Captain saluted and moved to execute the order.
Moments later, a flash of gray teleportation light erupted, and another Administrator in black-engraved brown armor appeared before him.
“N, what is the reason for this invitation?”
The newcomer immediately demanded an explanation. The reason he addressed the host as 'N' was due to their market rankings, with N representing the lowest position.
“M, it has been quite a while.”
The Administrator’s tone was laced with mockery as he replied: “I heard you tried to chase small profits by sending out those lucrative invitations, only to offend the three major powers in your region—the Flower Fairies, Trolls, and Minotaurs. You are reaping the consequences now, aren't you?”
“The four factions you used to influence have already sworn fealty to the Human Majesty, and even the Light Half-Elves have become His Majesty’s allies. The fires of war have been extinguished, and your schemes have crumbled to dust.”
The Administrator continued in a relaxed manner: “A single word from the Human Majesty is all it takes to cut you off from the Light Half-Elf network. Without the chaos of war to exploit, you will soon find yourself demoted to the rank of N in my place.”
“Brother N, I admit it was my fault for mocking you when you were down in the past.”
Administrator M looked as though he were on the verge of tears, his voice filled with despair: “To be honest, since we are both at the bottom of the market rankings, we should be helping each other. Surely you wouldn't let a younger brother suffer the same fate you did?”
“M, do not try to act close with me now. If it weren't for you and the others, I might not have been ranked last to begin with. However, with the Human Majesty’s favor, rising through the ranks will be a simple matter for me.”
The Administrator looked down on him and sneered: “As for you, prepare to take the bottom spot. When the time comes, His Majesty's influence will make your invitations worthless. You can look forward to being punished by the Bazaar Brotherhood for your lack of results.”
“Brother N, if I lose my status as an Administrator, my enemies will never let me live. Please, brother, show me a way out! Say a few good words to the Human Majesty on my behalf!”
Administrator M practically threw himself at the other’s feet, begging: “If the Human Majesty is willing to spare me, I will do anything!”
“Oh? Well, an opportunity has just presented itself.”
The Administrator nodded and began to outline Leo Ray’s strategy for establishing a high-level market. He added: “If you help me convince L and K to serve the Human Majesty and ensure this high-level market is a success, His Majesty might just give you a chance to improve your standing.”
“Is that true? That is fantastic!”
Administrator M’s eyes lit up, and he nodded frantically: “I am more than willing to serve the Human Majesty! I will do whatever it takes to assist you, brother!”
Then, M’s voice wavered with doubt: “But L and K... though they are ranked just above us, they used to hold much higher positions. Their influence and power are far greater than ours. It won't be easy to make them submit.”
“Don't forget the scale of what we are hosting—a high-level market where Tier 6 equipment is the main attraction. Look, what do you see here?”
The Administrator smiled and flicked his wrist. Two sets of radiant Tier 6 equipment appeared on their racks.
“Complete Tier 6 sets? I haven't seen craftsmanship this exquisite in a millennium! Only the most legendary Tier 6 blacksmiths could produce such work!”
Administrator M reached out to touch the armor, his voice trembling with excitement: “I knew the Human Majesty was deep and mysterious, but I never imagined he possessed such treasures!”
“His Majesty’s true power is beyond your wildest dreams. Do you have confidence now?”
The Administrator tilted his chin up, basking in the reflected glory of his master.
“Absolutely! Those two, L and K—even if they were once great, they are nothing more than fading embers now!”
Administrator M, now firmly on the team, nodded with conviction: “With the Human Majesty as our patron, why should I care about those two?”
“Good. That is the attitude I want. The Human Majesty wants this settled quickly.”
The Administrator nodded before turning to the waiting Market Captain: “Very well, open the teleportation gates and bring those two in.”
Shortly after, two bursts of gray light signaled the arrival of the others, and the castle square became increasingly crowded.
