Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1968: The Hunt for Breydar Continues
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Adam made the right decision when he decided to check out what was happening on Island A165.
It wasn’t just that he could relax before his battle against Breydar and enjoy some delicious drinks and coffee, but also that Haworg was none other than an informant.
He already knew that Adam had defeated Midgar, and perhaps before Adam’s arrival, he had learned something else that Adam didn’t suspect. However, he didn’t need to know everything that was happening at the Gray Sea and the Grand Abyss.
He had a clear goal - Breydar.
Sure, if that bar hadn’t been there or if Adam had simply skipped Island A165, he would have found Breydar sooner or later. After all, not many monsters fit his description.
But even with the aura field, it would have taken Adam a long time, especially if he’d been unlucky.
If Adam had known exactly which island Breydar was currently on, it would have made everything much easier.
Krador helped him out by telling him that Breydar was supposed to be somewhere between Island A150 and A180. If Adam hadn’t had that information, he might never have ended up on Island A165 or met Haworg. At least, it wouldn’t have happened this time.
Tap.
Adam set his coffee cup on the counter and nodded with satisfaction.
"Yeah, this is good, tasty coffee. You didn’t lie."
Haworg grinned widely. Even after hundreds of years and thousands of orders fulfilled, he still enjoyed receiving praise from satisfied guests. For him, that was more important than conquering territories or battling other monsters.
Silence.
A moment of silence hung in the air as they both realized it was time to move from casual conversation to business.
"As I understand it, you want to ask me something, right?" Haworg narrowed his eyes.
Adam nodded.
"I won’t beat around the bush. At first, I was just hoping you could point me in the right direction since your island is in the area I need. But after what I’ve learned about you, I’m now certain you definitely have the information I need."
Haword smirked as he shrugged.
"Yeah, I know a lot. In fact, I don’t have to do anything special to find out. People come here, relax, drink coffee, and tell me the latest news. I think you’ve already figured out that before you, I also had a guest who told me about your achievement."
Adam nodded.
"Sure. You had no other way to find out what happened between Midgar and me. Also, this shows that you’re not just an informant for the Gray Sea, you also know what’s going on at the Grand Abyss. That’s a whole other level."
Haworg chuckled, scratching his thick beard.
"Huh, what can I say? It’s hard to find a place like my bar at the Gray Sea. Sometimes, even the True Lords stop by. Huh, they’re my favorite guests. Most of them are very polite and calm, and over a cup of coffee, they might tell you a secret that, under normal circumstances, would be worth a fortune."
"Well..." Adam paused as his eyes scanned Haworg. "You’re very powerful in your own right. I can sense it."
However, Haworg wasn’t impressed by this praise, since he knew it wasn’t entirely true.
"Compared to you, a K4-Phantom? Sure. But I’m still a long way from the True Lords, especially those at the very top."
He sighed heavily as his amber eyes fixed on Adam.
"But you didn’t come here to talk about the True Lords or which one of us is stronger, did you?"
"Sure."
Adam nodded.
"One of the reasons I came to the Gray Sea is to find and kill a certain monster. It’s a personal matter. The monster’s name is Breydar. I have information that he should be somewhere between Island A150 and Island A180. You must know something about this."
"Ah, Breydar?" Haworg raised an eyebrow before shaking his head. "Yeah, I’ve heard of him. He’s been here for quite a while. Huh, he’s been trying so hard to escape the Veiled Souls Clan, but he still hasn’t managed to do it."
Adam’s expression grew more serious, and his eyes narrowed.
"What does that mean?"
"Look." Haworg waved his hand. "First off, your information is outdated. At one point, Breydar was actually between these islands, to be precise, he stayed on Island A177 for a long time. I think he was sure the Veiled Souls Clan wouldn’t come after him here, but he was wrong."
The atmosphere grew heavier as Adam’s eyes darkened.
"Did they kill him?"
In fact, Adam didn’t want that to happen. He wanted to deal with Breydar personally and bring his head to the Citadel. That was the mission he had agreed to.
"No."
Haworg shook his head.
"He sensed they were following him and fled further away. This happened very recently, not even two days ago. I think Breydar realized that the Veiled Souls Clan is prepared to pursue him for as long as it takes."
Suddenly, Haworg’s voice grew lower and his face darker.
"That’s exactly why he took the risk and went beyond Island A200. For someone at his level, that’s already dangerous, but he went even further and stopped at Island A215."
Adam blinked.
"So... Breydar is currently on Island A215?"
"Yes. The Veiled Souls Clan is heading there, too. But Breydar isn’t planning to run away. He’s decided to fight them and use the dangerous terrain, this island, and his new powers to try to fend them off.
"If you’re interested in my opinion, his chances are slim. I’d say there’s a 1 in 10 chance he’ll survive and get the most out of his plan. Though he has no other choice. Heading for even more distant islands is too dangerous for him."
Adam stared at a single point for a while before looking up and fixing his gaze on Haworg.
"You mentioned his new powers... What level is Breydar at now?"
Haworg didn’t look away for a moment.
"He is a Viscount."
