Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1918: The Shadow That Brings the End

Kalyso’s motivation was clear and straightforward. Like many monsters, he was searching for a worthy opponent.
A K4-Phantom wasn’t supposed to be a strong enough opponent for a Baron, especially one like Kalyso, but Adam was indeed a special case.
The Befallen Crown had put a bounty on his head and was sending its forces to every corner of the world it could reach to kill him, and all of this was happening for one reason alone, they knew that Adam would soon become the next Second Rank Phantom.
When Adam first arrived at the Dark Shore, the Befallen Crown had limited information about him and wasn’t yet entirely certain of this.
After all, there were many K3-Phantoms in the world with great potential, but most of them died before even reaching the middle of the K4 level, let alone breaking through the barrier to the Second Circle.
Now, no one had any doubts that Adam would do it if he wasn’t stopped, that is, if he wasn’t killed.
"Oh, what did you say?" Kalyso gasped, surprised. "Will this be your last battle before the barrier?"
Adam nodded.
"Yes. No matter how this fight ends, afterward I’ll receive my final condition and become even stronger. I wouldn’t mind if you waited. That way, you’ll be able to fight a stronger version of me. How does that sound?"
Unfortunately, Adam had no chance of success with this.
Kalyso waved his hand dismissively.
"Come on, that didn’t work on me the first time, and it won’t work the second. Get ready to fight!"
Without hesitation, Kalyso leaped to the side and raised his hand above his head.
Tremble!
The energy flows surged toward him, coalescing into a bright orb that hovered above his palm, moving across their arena.
Shiver!
The golden orb trembled, releasing a wave of light.
"Our battle will begin on the third wave!"
Adam nodded deeply.
"Got it."
His needle appeared in his hand as his mind momentarily turned to his inner space.
’Anything to say?’
He addressed the one who always saw more than he did.
’No.’ The Silver Weaver’s voice echoed in his head. ’I don’t see any more than you do. This guy is pretty strange, but he’s definitely strong. But I have one suggestion.’
’Hmm?’
Shiver!
The golden orb released a second wave as Kalyso assumed a fighting stance. His aura, as bright as the sun, burst forth at full power, causing the ground to tremble and the tall grass beside him to bend.
"Speak quickly. You don’t have more than a few seconds!"
The Silver Weaver nodded as his green eyes grew deeper.
"You must lose as quickly as possible. But I wouldn’t advise you to let him win on purpose. Who knows what he’ll do in that case? He’ll definitely figure it out.’
He continued:
’He said whoever can no longer fight loses. If you use up all your energy, you’ll fulfill that condition, won’t you? What’s the point of fighting if you have no energy left?’
In that moment, a smirk appeared on Adam’s face as his gaze filled with confidence.
"Great idea. Let’s do it! Maybe things aren’t so bad after all. I’ll be able to test my limits at my peak before facing the Bottomless Void!"
Shiver!
The golden orb trembled, releasing a final third wave that signaled the start of their battle.
In the blink of an eye, Adam stepped forward, channeling his energy into his needle.
Tremble!
The needle trembled, growing many times longer. Like a white flash, the needle swept through the golden field, cutting through the tall grass in its path and moving straight toward Kalyso, who hadn’t taken a single step yet.
"He can’t react in time?" Adam thought. "Good, maybe he’s not as strong as I thought after all."
But before Adam had a chance to rejoice, Kalyso took a step forward, stretching his hand out.
The amber light headed toward his hand, enveloping it like a flame.
CLASH!
Kalyso’s open hand collided directly with Adam’s needle, effortlessly grabbing it.
"What the...?" Adam’s eyes widened in disbelief.
He stamped his foot, intending to pull his needle back, but he simply couldn’t do it.
"No way..." Adam whispered, looking at Kalyso, who was grinning widely. It felt to him as if he were trying to move a mountain, even though it was just Kalyso’s grip.
"Sorry, Adam, but a cheap trick like that won’t work on me! You’ll have to show me something more if you want to even scratch me!"
Crack!
With his next move, Kalyso snapped Adam’s needle as the amber flame raced along it, destroying every part.
"Damn it!"
Adam had to fling his needle aside so the amber flame wouldn’t burn him.
BAM!
Before Adam could look away from his needle, Kalyso’s fist slammed into his face.
The impact ripped through Adam’s body, sending him flying dozens of meters to the side.
Whoooooooosh!
Adam’s back swept through the tall grass and snapped several giant sunflowers before he crashed into the ground like a falling meteor.
"Gha...!"
Adam spat out a mouthful of blood as his fingertips trembled.
Fear flashed in Adam’s eyes when he looked at his hands.
’Did that happen from just one punch? Is that how strong the Lords are? And... he broke my needle so easily, that’s not what I expected.’
True, Adam had underestimated just how strong Kalyso really was, but something else frightened him.
’I have to abandon my plan.’ Adam slowly wiped away the trickle of blood flowing from the corner of his mouth. ’If I take a blow like that without any energy, before I even have a chance to admit defeat, he’ll just kill me.’
Deep down, Adam was afraid to come to that conclusion, but he knew it was true.
So, what was he supposed to do in that case?
"I see..."
Adam sighed heavily as he rose from the ground, the red threads flashing before his eyes.
"It seems I have no choice but to wear him down. I must fight to the end!"
...
While Kalyso and Adam’s battle was rapidly unfolding, an inconspicuous shadow flitted across the Light Field.
The man’s cold eyes scanned the entire area, and soon the energy waves emanating from the Fallen Amber Sun caught his attention.
’Hmm? Only two auras?’
The man was confused.
’Is he already there and has managed to kill two of the three? I need to check this out.’
