Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1910: Two Radars

The Pearls were the greatest treasure of the Light Field. Everyone in the region knew this. If someone was a newcomer, like Adam, they quickly learned about it.
Sure, the Light Field had plenty of other valuable resources. Many of them couldn’t be found anywhere else on the surface, but the Pearls were always the most coveted, and they were the cause of most battles.
Sometimes, a monster might get lucky and stumble upon a Pearl, and even get it without a fight. But, in most cases, you had to search for the Pearls and fight for them.
Those who had lived here for many years had gained experience in this matter, and Ergander was one such monster.
"So, can you find the Pearls using the Vibrating Stones?"
Ergander nodded.
"Yes. But this isn’t some kind of equipment designed specifically for this purpose. So, while this is their primary use, it’s not the only one. When you use a Vibrating Stone, it emits vibrations that travel a long distance.
"Thanks to your energy, you can sense and practically see these vibrations. At that moment, the Vibrating Stone becomes your personal radar, and with a bit of luck, you can spot treasures, that is, the Pearls. That’s what most hunters here know, but it’s not quite the whole story."
"Hmm?" Adam gave him a curious look.
Ergander smirked.
"The Vibrating Stones, their vibrations, pass through all objects, and if an object has a lot of energy or high density, the vibrations have a harder time passing through it. That way, you can sense where the vibrations stop and figure out where those objects are.
"But this doesn’t just work on the Pearls. Most people only use it to search for Pearls because they’re the most valuable thing you can find here, and because they don’t understand how the vibrations work."
Adam’s gaze drifted downward for a moment as he pondered Ergander’s words.
"Wait... Are you saying that using the Vibrating Stones, you can find any object with a high energy density?"
"Indeed." Ergander smiled contentedly. "The vibrations won’t react to a tree or a simple rock, but they will to a Pearl, the skeleton of an ancient monster, or even some rare plant."
Ergander waved his hand.
"These are still just vibrations, even though I called it a radar, but of course the Vibrating Stones don’t have any interface or display. So, you can only guess what’s hiding behind the ’dark spots’ on the radar."
Adam hummed thoughtfully.
"Got it. There are plenty of resources at the Light Field, but the Pearls are all similar. Not only are they the most valuable and sought-after, but they’re also the easiest to spot on the radar, right?"
"Correct," Ergander confirmed. "Let’s say you need a certain flower. You have a rough idea of what its energy vibrations should be, so you used a Vibrating Stone and sensed them. You saw that ’dark spot,’ but... when you arrived at the location, you found an energy crystal instead of a flower."
Adam sighed as he looked at Ergander over his shoulder.
"It’s all because they have roughly the same energy density, so it’s easy to confuse them, right?"
"Hahaha! You’re a quick learner!"
Adam rubbed his chin, nodding from time to time.
"So... Are you suggesting I use a Vibration Stone to locate the Bottomless Void via radar, my last condition?"
"Yes."
"But how is that supposed to help me? I mean, even if a Vibration Stone finds the Bottomless Void, how will I find it? How will I know that this ’dark spot’ isn’t a flower, a crystal, or a pearl, but my condition?"
Ergander shrugged.
"Well, that’s the tricky part. I’ve never used Vibration Stones for anything like this, but it should work. Your energy should help you with this."
"Hmm?"
Ergander pointed at Adam.
"Earlier, you said that upon arriving at the Gray Sea, you began to feel that your last condition was somewhere nearby, right?"
"Yes, when I concentrate, it’s as if something appears around me..." Adam paused for a moment before continuing, "’a radar appears around me...’"
Ergander’s eyes sparkled with excitement. He hadn’t felt anything like this in a long time.
"Huh! So I’m definitely right! It can’t be any other way! You’re using a Vibrating Stone, and thanks to your energy, you’ll know if a dark spot is your condition! You’ll overlay your radar onto the Vibrating Stone’s radar!"
The realization struck Adam as the corners of his mouth slowly turned upward, forming a happy smile.
"Hell, this might work. Even if I don’t get it right the first time, I’ll save a lot of time and significantly narrow down the search area!"
Ergander crossed his arms over his chest, nodding like an experienced guide. Well, that wasn’t far from the truth.
"That’s what I was talking about, young man."
Clutch.
Adam clenched his fist as his heart began to beat faster. He felt he was very close to finding the Bottomless Void.
"But, Adam."
Ergander’s deep voice rang out, interrupting Adam’s thoughts.
"Now it’s time to move on to the bad news."
"Agh...?" Adam was at a loss.
A moment later, he furrowed his brow.
"Tsk. I should have guessed it wouldn’t be that simple. What’s the problem?"
Ergander spread his arms wide.
"I don’t have the Vibrating Stones."
From Adam’s reaction, it was clear he had been expecting the worst.
"Well, it shouldn’t be that big of a problem to find them, right?"
In response, Ergander scratched the back of his head with an awkward expression.
"How do I put this... The Vibrating Stones aren’t just stones lying somewhere in the middle of a field or in a cave. In fact, they’re sharp, smooth crystals resembling obelisks. Only their tips protrude outward, while the main body remains hidden underground, running along the Light Field and descending deep into the Dark Field."
At that moment, Adam’s eyes widened.
"I see... So that’s why they work that way. It makes sense."
Ergander nodded.
"Yes. But that’s exactly why their number is limited, and most of the Vibrating Stones are occupied by other monsters. I mean, I can approach some Vibrating Stones and use them, but I’m afraid no one will do you that favor."
"So? What should I do?"
Ergander leaned forward, his expression serious.
"You have to find a free Vibrating Stone, or... take it from someone, for example, by defeating a Lord. As you can see, there aren’t that many options."
