Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1901: The Worst Passage and Last Treat
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
At the Gray Sea, from every corner of the world, countless passages were leading to the Grand Abyss. The only way to reach the Grand Abyss was through these passages. There was simply no other option.
Adam arrived at the Gray Sea to find the right passage, and after four failed attempts, he finally succeeded.
Sure, perhaps one of the passages he’d skipped was safe, but Adam didn’t want to take any chances. He trusted Prasyx’s words and wanted to do everything right this time.
So, as Prasyx had suggested, he chose the passage that looked the most dangerous.
"Well, looks like our team is going to have to split up," Adam said, looking at the giant oyster beneath him.
Clack! Clack!
The oyster clicked a few times before flinging Adam off. He didn’t resist, since he knew the giant oyster wouldn’t follow him to the Grand Abyss. It was a resident of the Gray Sea and spent most of its time near Prasyx’s island.
In fact, many monsters here behaved just like the giant oyster. If they weren’t strong enough to establish control over an island, they would simply join a powerful monster that had managed to do so.
They became servants to such monsters and, most of the time, simply stayed safe and absorbed energy.
Monsters like Prasyx rarely gave orders to their servants and usually went about their own business, even if it was something as strange as growing pears in the middle of nowhere.
Tap.
Adam landed on the ground as he closed his eyes. He was ready to venture into this passage, but before doing so, he had to check one thing.
The Obsidian Compass couldn’t tell him just how dangerous this passage was, but he had his own radar.
Ripple! Ripple! Ripple!
The energy waves emanated from Adam one after another. Before, he had sensed nothing from the passages, they were just a black spot on his radar, but not this time.
"Hmm?" Adam hummed to himself as he saw a faint glow emanating from the passage ahead of him. It flickered out from time to time, but soon the light returned.
"I see," Adam smirked as he opened his eyes.
But instead of the passage, he saw the giant oyster right in front of him. Between its shells, it was holding a massive sea urchin that had already been smashed open.
"Crk!" The giant oyster dropped the sea urchin in front of Adam before finally swimming off into the distance, speeding straight back toward Prasyx’s island.
Adam blinked a few times as he realized what had happened.
"Huh, so I fed this oyster on the way here, and it decided to thank me? Well, I haven’t tried sea urchin roe yet."
Adam decided to take just a little, his eyes widening for a moment. He felt a rich, rather salty flavor fill his mouth.
"Not bad, but... I don’t think this would become my favorite dish."
Then, glancing around just in case, Adam looked at the passage.
"Alright, it’s time to go."
Step. Step. Step.
Adam walked across the calm water’s surface as the spine towering over the passage exuded a menacing aura even now.
Sure, deep down, Adam had his doubts. He realized that this might be a mistake and that perhaps he should have chosen one of the previous passages, but he decided to trust his intuition.
"It’s unlikely that Prasyx is deceiving me, and the Path Construct has finally given me at least some kind of clue. This is my best option!"
With these thoughts in mind, Adam looked at the open jaw and jumped into the whirlpool.
...
About half an hour later, the giant oyster returned to Island A21, where Prasyx was watching over his Lucent Pears.
"Oh, you’re back already?" Prasyx asked, his large green eyes fixed on the giant oyster.
"Clack! Clack! Clack!" The giant oyster clicked, but Prasyx had no trouble understanding it.
"I see." A satisfied smirk appeared on Prasyx’s face. "So he decided to take my advice? Good for him, lately, there have been too many hunters preying on newbies in this part of the Gray Sea."
Then, Prasyx shook his head with a heavy look on his face.
"Agh, the Renegades have to do something about this sooner or later. Otherwise, there won’t be any newbies left in the Gray Sea at all, and there are already very few of them."
"Clack! Clack! Clack!" The giant oyster clicked.
Prasyx nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, I agree with you. After the World Wipe, everything will change, but we still have to wait for it. Alright, you’re free to go!"
"Clack! Clack!"
"No!" Prasyx frowned, looking indignant. "I’m not going to go fishing just for you! I’m sure Adam fed you well enough!"
"Clack...?" The giant oyster clicked uncertainly.
"Nah, I won’t change my mind! Maybe later. That’s the best I can offer you!" Prasyx had no intention of backing down.
"Clack!" The giant oyster clicked one last time before returning underwater.
A few moments later, Prasyx nodded deeply and looked away. His gaze drifted into the distance as he sensed the trail of Adam’s energy.
"Good luck, Adam, you’ll need it to find an Abyss Pearl for me! Hahahahaha!"
...
Whooooosh!
The water currents rushed past Adam on his left and right as he descended deeper into the whirlpool.
His gaze was fixed downward as he remained on guard, expecting the worst.
’The Grand Abyss. No one has told me the details about this area. All I know is that this place lies deep beneath the Gray Sea, sort of like an underground level. But that can’t be the only change, right?’
More than anything, Adam was wary not of the hunters Prasyx had mentioned, who might be waiting for him at a passage, but of the monsters that had been born and lived for hundreds of years in the Grand Sea.
Such monsters must have been at the Lord Level since birth and possessed immense power.
After all, Adam was still just a K4-Phantom, not a Second Rank One.
Soon, in the distance, darkness gave way to light as Adam braced himself for the encounter.
SPLASH!
Suddenly, he burst out of the stream of water as his eyes widened.
"Agh...?"
The water was gone as gusts of fresh air rushed toward him.
"There’s no water in the Grand Abyss...?"
