Adam arrived at the shore of the Gray Sea for the first time, marveling at its vastness and quiet. He consulted his compass, intending to head towards the Grand Abyss, but paused to test his ability to walk on water. After successfully balancing on the waves, Adam set off towards the nearest islands.

Whoooooosh.

Adam sliced through the dark waters of the Gray Sea, heading toward the island in the distance.

He wasn’t running, but was moving forward by releasing energy from his hands, which propelled him from behind like an engine. At the same time, he wasn’t moving his legs, but simply tilted his torso to the left or right as he stood on an oval energy platform resembling a surfboard.

Perhaps if he were flying high above and putting enough energy into it, he could move faster, but in that case, he certainly wouldn’t have that satisfied smile on his face as he does now.

"Hahaha! Who would have thought this felt so good!" Adam exclaimed, his eyes brimming with excitement.

In just a few minutes, he’d gone from the peaceful quiet he’d felt on the shore to bright, lively laughter.

It seemed as though that feeling from the shore would soon return, after all, he’d been alone there, too, but that wasn’t quite the case.

"Hmm?" Adam blinked as he saw two shadows ahead. They were large enough to be distinguishable even against the dark waters of the Gray Sea.

However, if it weren’t for the moonlight covering the entire Gray Sea, perhaps even Adam wouldn’t have noticed them.

Whoooooosh!

In the blink of an eye, two objects burst out of the water. Moving at tremendous speed, their long bodies hurtled toward Adam, poised to pierce him like spears with their sharp tips.

Adam’s pupils narrowed as he leaped high into the air, dodging their attack at the last moment.

"What the...?" He was confused, trying to figure out who had just attacked him.

But he had no time to think, as the two monsters attacked again.

This time, he had one second to see what kind of monsters they were.

They were two fish with elongated bodies covered in black scales that reflected the moonlight. Their eyes were deep and blue, burning like flames, and their jaws tapered to a sharp point, but their powerful jaws and teeth were dangerous weapons as well.

These were the Night Barracudas.

This was Adam’s first encounter with such monsters. It was no surprise, since he had only fought aquatic monsters a few times before, but never against creatures of the deep.

"Huh, so that’s how it is," Adam chuckled as he leaped aside.

The Night Barracudas whizzed past him like dark flashes.

"I should have figured that out sooner, this is the ocean, after all. Even if there are islands here, the main danger must come from the water!" Adam exclaimed as his energy surged into his fists.

He expected the Night Barracudas to return to the water. After all, they had just attacked him twice by lunging out from underwater, but that wasn’t necessarily the case.

After all, the Night Barracudas weren’t ordinary fish that a regular fisherman could handle. They were Black Threat Level Monsters, and they were quite close to the Baron Level.

Tremble!

The Night Barracudas shuddered as they simultaneously turned toward Adam. Their eyes shone brightly as they launched themselves straight at him, slicing through the air with the same ease as they did through water.

Adam swung his needle, knowing exactly when they would be in front of him.

Clang!

The Night Barracudas collided with his needle, and the impact sent the two monsters flying to the side. They shot Adam a piercing glance and returned to the water, preparing for their next attack.

"Black Threat Level, huh? No, I’d say they’re stronger than most of the Elders I’ve faced. The only difference between them is that these fish aren’t Awakened Monsters."

He looked around, taking in the endless Gray Sea surrounding him.

"This shouldn’t surprise me, should it? I’m sure that the farther out into the Gray Sea I go, the more energy there is, and that works at greater depths as well. In the waters near the distant islands, I’m sure to encounter sea monsters at the Lord Level. There’s no doubt about it."

Splash!

With another splash, the Night Barracudas lunged at Adam, ready to pierce him like spears.

But this time, Adam was ready.

A few attacks were enough for him to figure out the Night Barracudas’ weak spots.

"They’re fast and confident, better not to get hit by their attacks, but they aren’t exactly agile, right?" Adam smirked as he aimed his needle at one of the monsters.

The left Night Barracuda didn’t understand what had caused that smirk on Adam’s face, but it was already too late to do anything about it. They had to attack if they wanted to kill this Phantom.

Tremble!

Adam’s needle trembled, and in the blink of an eye, its color changed to white. In a bright flash, it grew significantly longer and pierced right through the Night Barracuda, which was only halfway toward him.

In that position, the Night Barracuda had no way to turn around. Its body wouldn’t allow it, and its speed was too great.

The second Night Barracuda saw what had happened to the first one, so it began jerking its body vigorously from side to side to slow down.

Whoooosh.

Adam appeared next to the second Night Barracuda as his needle had now become a massive dark greatsword. Even he had a hard time holding it with just one hand.

"Not bad, but I didn’t come here to lose to two fast fish."

Slash!

With the next swing, the dark greatsword turned the Night Barracuda into bloody shreds that flew in all directions. This weapon didn’t cut, but crushed due to its enormous weight.

By this point, Adam had learned to use various needle forms much better than at the very beginning. However, he had three main ones.

"I should probably try to create a few more forms. Maybe I’ll come up with something, but for now, this should be quite enough."

He had his regular needle, the long white one, and the massive dark greatsword, which was slow but possessed crushing power.

The Night Barracuda’s remains fell into the water, disappearing beneath the next wave, as Adam’s gaze fell on the island in the distance.

He saw shadows swirling around them underwater as he realized one thing:

"Getting to that island won’t be easy, but I can’t let a bunch of fish stop me!"
