Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1860: Blood Fangs and Ice Vortex
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Adam had almost finished restoring Vador’s Evolution Tree.
Amelia knew this, which was exactly why she ran to the entrance of their residence as fast as she could.
"Damn it! I knew that sooner or later his presence here would attract attention, but I didn’t think they’d actually decide to attack our house!"
Although relatively few people lived on the upper level of Varreyn, they were all powerful monsters, and their relationships were not friendly, but rather tense.
This was especially true for Amelia and for the entire Grad Family. The other monsters on that level knew just how rare the Legacy Artifacts and the monster noble families were.
However, as long as Vador was still alive, they weren’t ready to attack the Grad Family. It was too risky, since in that case they would have to win faster than the Renegades could react.
But... When Adam appeared, the monsters gained an additional motivation. They didn’t need to attack the Grad Family directly because now they had an explanation for the Renegades.
They could say that their target was Adam Vinter, who was hiding on the Grad Family’s territory. After all, many monsters living in various lands both respected and feared the Befallen Crown.
For some of them, this was a chance to make it to the big leagues and find themselves right in the heart of the Dark Shore, it would be their reward for capturing Adam Vinter.
However, doing so was far from easy.
"Bastards! They know how badly my father is suffering, and yet they couldn’t even wait until Adam left our house! "As soon as I get my hands on you, you’ll regret this!" Amelia clenched her teeth in anger as a thin layer of ice spread across the floor and walls from her trembling aura.
Step! Step! Step!
After a few more steps, Amelia exited the mansion, running through the garden straight toward the main gates.
A crowd of servants had gathered at the entrance, and a young man stood before the open gates. On the other side stood a muscular man with a smug smirk and a haughty gaze. Next to him stood a girl with long braids and a predatory glare in her eyes. They both had crimson hair.
Amelia’s eyes fell on the young man, and she immediately realized who he was.
"M-Markol?" Amelia muttered to herself in disbelief. Her brother wasn’t a particularly brave person, and he was the weakest member of their family.
"Hahahahaha!" The muscular man laughed, looking at Markol, who was trying his hardest to look confident.
Behind the man, two people dressed in red-and-black clothes appeared. They exchanged glances and gave a signal as soon as about a dozen more shadows headed toward them.
"Kessa, just look at him! He’s going to defend these gates all by himself!"
The girl rolled her eyes and waved her hand dismissively.
"Come on, Mudaro, you know we’re not here to cause trouble for the Grad Family."
She licked her lips as she smirked menacingly.
"All we want is to find Adam Vinter and capture this dangerous criminal for the Befallen Crown! We’re the good guys!"
The servants of the Grad Family exchanged glances. Fear was evident on their faces. They were all mere monsters. None of them could stand up to Mudaro and Kessa. These were the Lords who could overwhelm them with just their auras.
"No!" Markol exclaimed, clenching his fist. "You just made that up! You have no reason to enter our territory! I demand that you leave immediately!"
Step.
Mudaro stepped forward, his massive chest rising as he exhaled.
"Look, little one, we just need Adam Vinter. Whether you like it or not, the Befallen Crown wants to get rid of him at any cost. We simply cannot ignore the will of the strongest monsters in our world!"
Markol’s eyes darted from side to side. Alone, he wouldn’t stand a chance against even one of them. If Mudaro and Kessa wanted to, they could pin Markol to the ground with a single strike.
Step!
Before Markol could answer, a powerful stride sounded from behind, and everyone’s gaze turned to a single point.
"Such bold words for one who lives atop Varreyn."
Amelia’s voice was deep, infused with danger, as she moved forward slowly. With each step she took, a layer of ice spread across the surface as a frosty wind followed in her wake.
Unlike Markol, her aura alone was enough to bring about such changes.
"Mudaro, Kessa, you are the leaders of the Blood Fangs." Her eyes fell on their distinctive clothing and on the people behind them. "Don’t you find your actions humiliating? Are you willing to attack your neighbors just to curry favor with another faction?"
For a moment, Mudaro’s expression grew serious. Dealing with Amelia was significantly more difficult than dealing with Markol, whom everyone at the upper level considered a useless fighter and a failure.
But after a moment, Mudaro smiled sheepishly and scratched the back of his head.
"Oh, Amelia, you’re here too? You know, comparing our small group, albeit an extremely effective one, to the Befallen Crown isn’t fair. We’re in completely different leagues."
Amelia narrowed her eyes.
"Is that so?"
She glanced at Kessa.
"Are you so confident in your decision that you’re willing to go up against the Renegades? They don’t tolerate conflicts on their territory."
Kessa smirked as she turned sideways.
"Kha! Maybe that would be true if we were attacking you, fellow residents of Varreyn like ourselves, but we came here for Adam Vinter! The Renegades don’t care about him, but to the Befallen Crown, he’s a dangerous criminal."
Mudaro nodded deeply.
"Exactly. I’m afraid the Renegades won’t start a war between two factions over a single K4-Phantom. I’m sure you understand that better than I do."
Amelia was about to say something when something made her stop.
Suddenly, a bright light shone down from above, causing everyone to look up.
Cutting through the dark clouds, the ice vortex moved toward them, poised to crash down like a frosty meteor.
