Adam learns about Baron Breydar, a powerful monster responsible for the deaths of several Phantoms. Farla reveals that Breydar is hiding on Island A113 in the vast Gray Sea, a region filled with countless islands that become more dangerous the farther they are from the Tarnished Lands. Despite the risks, Adam accepts the mission to hunt down Breydar.

Adam came here to use the Void Transit, but ended up receiving a contract to kill one of the Barons.

’Breydar, right?’ Adam thought, looking at the Void Route shimmering before him. ’Judging by his name, he’s a pretty old bastard, though not as ancient as Es’aha or Kaerno. Well, I’ll deal with him later. I’m still a long way from Island A113.’

Step.

Adam stepped forward, glancing back over his shoulder at Farla.

"You’re not coming with me, are you?"

Farla shook her head.

"I’d like to explain everything to you in person, but those were Aiden’s conditions. As you understand, I can’t ignore his will, especially..." For a moment, Farla’s face darkened. "Especially when Gladius is here as well."

"I see. That was to be expected."

Farla didn’t have to explain to Adam how to use the Void Route. He had seen Sano, Natta, and Silvana do it.

So, the moment Adam felt the energy pulse, he let the Void Route swallow him up.

"Thank you for your honesty," Adam said as his body trembled. "I will do everything in my power to reach Breydar and defeat him."

Farla smiled.

"I’ll be eagerly awaiting news. I’m sure that despite the dangers of the Gray Sea, you’ll be able to find what you need there."

In the next moment, Adam transformed in a flash into a bright light, moving along the Void Route. He had seen it happen from the outside, but now he had to experience it firsthand.

The first thing Adam felt was significant pressure on his body. For an ordinary human, this difference would be comparable to suddenly finding oneself at the summit of a great mountain.

Without preparation, enduring such extreme pressure changes would be impossible, but Adam was more than strong enough for it.

But what piqued his curiosity was something else.

’Hmm, how strange...’ Adam looked around.

He could feel how fast he was moving, plunging deeper and deeper into the underground levels of the Citadel. The speed was immense, but all he could see around him were blurred walls and light.

In the purple tunnel surrounding him, Adam saw various passages and images, as if, if he wished, he could try to reach any of them.

’Is this the Void Transit, or am I just looking at variations of a single route?’

Adam shook his head as he directed his gaze forward.

As soon as he focused on moving forward, the Void Route flared up as he began to move significantly faster.

Whoooooosh!

In a bright flash, Adam crashed to the ground with a thud. He managed to stay on his feet as he reacted to the fall at the last moment.

Looking up, Adam saw everyone else.

"Hello! Glad you finally made it here!" Gladius waved at him with a broad smile on his face. Next to him was Xyrea, her face emotionless.

Sano, Natta, and Silvana were nearby. From Sano and Natta’s heavy breathing, it was clear they were still recovering from the leap through the Void Route, but Silvana, for her part, didn’t seem to be feeling the same strain.

Aiden stood with his back against the wall. His arms were crossed over his chest in anticipation.

But something immediately caught Adam’s eye.

A massive rift had opened in the wall ahead. It was more than ten times larger than the Void Route and resembled not a rift but a wormhole. Cracks ran along the wall, leading to the wormhole, which quivered from time to time, directing a stream of energy forward like a multitude of intertwining portals.

"Is this the Void Transit?" Adam asked, stepping forward slowly.

Aiden nodded.

"Yes. This is the main body of the Void Transit. I don’t know if you’ve figured it out yet, but it’s a Hollow Artifact."

Adam gulped. He knew what that meant.

The Hollow Artifacts were the remnants of the Ancient Artifacts, the most powerful of them all. In fact, Adam had never encountered a living Ancient Artifact before.

He had seen a Hollow Artifact only once before, on an island in the Gray Sea, where he had undergone trials at the White Spire.

Now, he had encountered his second Hollow Artifact, which turned out to be the Void Transit.

"So, how exactly does this thing work?" Adam tilted his head.

Gladius smirked. "I’m sure you’ve already figured it all out. You go into the tunnel and choose the point where you want to end up. The Void Routes aren’t just at the First Ring. They’re scattered all over the world, in the farthest reaches of it."

"Huh?"

Adam was confused.

"If that’s the case, then why hasn’t anyone destroyed them yet? I’m sure many of the Void Routes are in places that aren’t exactly convenient for certain monsters, and they’d like to get rid of this problem."

Gladius nodded.

"Sure. From time to time, there are monsters strong and determined enough to attack a Void Route and destroy it. However, given the power of the Void Transit, only sufficiently powerful Lords can do this. The Lesser Lords are unable to do so without serious risks to their lives.

"Also, some Void Routes, such as those at the First Ring, are protected. Such places exist everywhere - in the Hollow Lands, Primal Lands, Tarnished Lands, and even at the Dark Shore. However, if you want to travel somewhere via the Void Transit, your destination should not be the Local Routes but the Wild Routes."

Adam raised an eyebrow.

"What’s the difference between them, and how do I tell them apart?"

Gladius spread his arms wide with a light sigh.

"It’s very simple, Adam. The Local Routes are protected by a faction or even individual, powerful monsters, while the Wild Routes are in various parts of the world where the Void Transit has directed its energy."

A glint flashed across Gladius’s eyes.

"If you want to tell them apart, pay attention to the aura of the endpoint. You’ll immediately know whether someone is monitoring that route or not."

After listening to him, Adam narrowed his eyes, staring intently at the Void Transit.

’Huh, who would have thought there was something like this beneath the Citadel? Well, I have no choice but to use it, right?’
