Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1695 1695: A New Way

No matter a Phantom's talent, restrictions bound how he wielded his powers.
A Phantom couldn't make major changes to his ability unless it inherently offered flexibility or various choices.
Mastering free control of his energy still left a Phantom unable to modify his powers at all.
For an ability that summoned a fireball, the utmost a Phantom could achieve was infusing extra energy to enlarge and intensify it. Nothing beyond that.
Splitting the fireball, modifying its traits, or reshaping the flames into something else like a spear lay beyond a Phantom's reach.
This unyielding constraint endured through much of the First Circle, binding every Phantom from K0 to K4 Level.
Yet at K4 Level, as a Phantom neared authentic might by breaking every seal and exposing his Evolution Tree's complete potential, circumstances shifted.
Adam grasped this completely during his Sky Cube sessions with Tron, and somewhat prior while testing the Imaginary Cut.
With his Evolution Tree fully unleashed and energy under perfect command, he could now tweak his abilities, though only mildly.
So far, the End Bliss—especially its wings interlaced with three thread types—represented his boldest gamble.
Adam refrained from merely amplifying the light rays' force or reshaping his wings for effortless flight.
Far from it—he reshaped the ability's core, compelling the light meant for ruinous beams to serve solely as propellant for his velocity.
"Oh…"
Impressed, the Dark Knight blinked. Adam's look revealed the unfolding truth.
'He modified one ability just to have a shot against me?' The Dark Knight's face turned graver. 'Impressive, truly impressive. Still… what exactly can those wings achieve?'
Step.
His wings hugged Adam's back as he advanced. Black threads tracing the edges evoked lifeless tree branches, somber and veiled in deathly energy, as the profuse white threads formed a radiant sheet linking the stark, serrated black borders.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Simultaneously, amber radiance exploded from the clusters, igniting a vivid blaze.
In a flash, Adam's form hurtled ahead in a erratic streak, materializing directly before the Dark Knight.
For the briefest instant, Adam's pace outstripped Loargh's at his zenith.
SLASH!
The wide blade gleamed before the Dark Knight's eyes, prompting a frantic block.
Sparks showered from the black needle's clash with the amber sword. Yet beyond the rebound, the Dark Knight detected something additional.
"A-Agh?" His gaze snapped to his shoulder.
Half-sunk into his shoulder sat the black needle, blood streaming from its razor edge.
"Wait… I didn't have time to react?" the Dark Knight thought. His thoughts rebelled against the fact.
Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.
The right wing quivered, seizing the Dark Knight's focus. Two of its six vortex-shaped clusters halted their outward glow, instead amassing energy inward.
"Your amber flame against my amber threads." Adam raised his chin, gazing down at the Dark Knight. "Which would you bet on?"
Adam's words went ignored by the Dark Knight, who lacked the luxury of time.
The pair of energy beams already streaked toward him, and his battle wisdom screamed against enduring such a strike.
Regrettably for Adam, he'd overlooked his foe's untapped aces.
Tremble.
After the sword's shift, the dark cape—reduced to a tiny cloth patch on the Dark Knight's shoulder—shuddered.
Instantly, thick fabric from the dark cape swathed his entire left arm, as two surviving red eyes awoke there: one atop the shoulder, the other on the forearm.
Acting independently, the red eyes instinctively countered the impending peril to secure the Dark Knight's triumph.
"Wait, wait, wait!"
Astonishment crossed Adam's features as the second red eye flared open, projecting a fan of black light.
CLASP!
The amber rays erased themselves, as if never launched.
Mirroring prior actions, the red eye jerked side to side without sealing shut; it realigned promptly.
'Agh? Was that not enough to drain it? SHIT!'
"Huh."
Smirking, the Dark Knight hoisted his left arm.
"Let's see if you can withstand my hit, young Phantom."
Frantic amber light churned within his palm, swiftly yielding the pulsing orb into the Dark Knight's clutch.
A miniature sun blazed with the wild energy that the Dark Knight had relentlessly absorbed over time, holding back until he amassed enough strength to advance.
"Try dodging this, Adam."
The Dark Knight dropped his arm, sending the amber blaze surging forth to consume Adam.
Whooooosh! Whooooosh! Whoooooosh!
All at once, a volley of projectiles streaked in from the flank, compelling the crimson flames to disrupt the Dark Knight's power and shift focus to devouring the blaze.
Adam's pupils contracted sharply, grasping that this was his golden opportunity.
In an instant, ancient energy coursed into his right leg, propelling a ferocious kick right into the Dark Knight's face.
Crack!
The exact strike on the jaw wrenched the Dark Knight's head aside, the sheer force launching him dozens of meters through the air.
"Gha…"
Letting out a deep breath, Adam pivoted, his eyes meeting Vyora's.
"I'll help you!"
Adam offered a wry smile, swiping sweat from his brow.
"That's good… But it looks like that bastard is still alive."
His stare pierced the dust cloud, where a shadowy form struggled to climb up from the ground following the devastating hit.
