Lost in a strange, gray landscape, Adam encounters aggressive local monsters, including a formidable bull-like creature enhanced by mysterious energy. After successfully fending off the beast, Adam realizes he is being hunted by something far more dangerous. His struggle is interrupted by the arrival of an imposing, towering figure who views Adam as an intruder who does not belong in this realm. Declaring that a single strike will suffice, the stranger manifests a massive white spear and prepares for lethal combat.

Occasionally, following a series of grueling trials, events start aligning smoothly. Matters grow simpler, more routine, and vividly sharp.

That precise feeling washed over Adam as he clashed with the bull. He fell back into his trusted moves once more, except... the respite ended swiftly.

The instant the towering figure emerged, the situation flipped, squeezing Adam's heart in dread.

Tremble! Tremble! Tremble!

Filled with surging power, the white spear quivered fiercely. Its tip whirled at blinding speed, transforming into a radiant streak on the verge of bursting like a star.

This clashed sharply with the tall man's serene stare, proving decisive for Adam.

Should his foe stay composed amid such might, it signaled that this force meant little to him.

Silently, the tall man bent ahead as his body shook. In a flash, he launched the spear directly at Adam, carving a pale streak through the sky.

The tall man anticipated total obliteration for Adam. Not a trace of ash ought to linger from a Phantom straying into their territory.

BLAST!

A massive blast erupted, kicking up dust clouds while bone shards scattered everywhere. The tall man's slit eyes gradually expanded, settling into tranquility.

The task stood complete.

Whooooooosh!

Abruptly, Adam materialized to the man's right, his eyes equally composed. Their azure gazes reflected each other perfectly.

Adam balled his fist hard before swinging, yet it stirred no reaction in the tall man.

Right as the blow neared its mark, a pale energy shield materialized before the tall man's features.

This barrier was meant to halt Adam's strike and pave the way for a riposte.

Or so the tall man believed.

Crack!

Adam's knuckles pulverized the white shield, leaving the tall man's eyes bulging in shock. These marked the initial true feelings etched on his face during their bout.

BAM!

The solid hit to the tall man's chin hurled him back meters, crashing him into the dirt.

His spine hit hard, yet the tall man sprang up instantly, gesturing to recall his spear. His face now shed all ease, replaced by grave focus as he fixed on Adam across the field.

Step.

Adam advanced a pace, combing fingers through his locks. In contrast to his rival, he approached the duel with nonchalance.

"Well, well, you know, at first, you actually scared me." His eyes shifted to the tall man’s spear. "I thought it was your Arc, but it’s just your ability, isn’t it?"

The tall man’s stare dipped briefly to crimson stains. The ashen dunes soaked up his blood.

’A single blow from him injured me, despite my barrier.’

"Human," the tall man whispered. "Who are you?"

"Agh? You decided to ask that question after attacking me? You know, usually I don’t mind answering that question, but not to you. You didn’t think about that when you wanted to kill me."

That retort irked the tall man, creasing his brow faintly.

"You... You’re nothing more than an uneducated beast. I asked your name because only now do I see that you’re a worthy opponent. All I wanted was to introduce myself in return, so you’d understand who stands before you!"

The tall man declared, leveling his spear at Adam.

"My name is Larth, and I am one of the honored Fangs!"

Adam rubbed his scalp.

"Hmm? Honored Fang? What the hell does that mean?"

Larth’s expression stiffened momentarily. Adam's ignorance stunned him more than any prior event.

Only then did Larth grasp that this Phantom hadn't wandered astray or hit a spatial rift by chance. No, the truth ran deeper.

"You... How could you have ended up in these lands and not know the very basics?"

Adam shrugged indifferently.

"You won’t believe it, but I’d like to know that just as much as you do."

Hunting clues, Larth’s gaze swept the terrain, spotting the cave ring. An idea sparked.

"Have you been there before?" he queried, gesturing toward the chasm.

Adam rubbed his nape and affirmed. "Yep, I woke up there and made my way out. You know, this place looks so empty and scary, but you’re already the third monster I’ve encountered on my journey."

Larth blinked repeatedly, piecing together occurrences.

’Excluding me, just that bull... a pathetic weakling. But...’

"Third? What does that mean? Who did you fight at the very beginning?"

Adam jabbed a finger skyward in reply.

"I don’t know what they’re called, but it’s a flying gray thing with a big amber eye. It just looked at me and flew away. Then, the bull appeared, and then you."

Adam cocked his head in puzzlement.

"Wait, why do you look so shocked? Didn’t that flying thing tell you about me?"

Larth pressed a palm to his visage, eyes quaking behind the fingers.

"I see. So we don’t have much time. If I defeat you... then maybe I can participate in..."

Whoooooosh!

Spear sweeping wide, Larth traced a white arc through the air before crouching. His presence ballooned manifold in moments as he released his full strength.

"Show me everything you’re capable of, human. The longer you hold out, the better, just make sure you lose at the right moment!"

Ere Adam replied, Larth charged, materializing before him instantly. Amid the chaos, Adam wore only a sly grin.

"Oh, what interesting goals you have. You know, I think you were right." Adam’s aura intensified. "I should have told you my name."

Step.

Adam strode ahead, closing right up to Larth.

"No matter how far away these lands are, I’m sure you’ve heard of Adam Vinter, haven’t you?"

Thus, Larth’s schemes shattered anew, blind to what followed—for him or Adam alike.

Word of his coming was already rippling through the vast realms.
