Adam decides to harness the volatility of Dark Energy to evolve his Future of the Past ability. After a careful process, he successfully transforms it into the Glare of Final Determination. To test the potential of this new power, he engages Tron in a controlled combat demonstration. While presenting as a seemingly weak black spear, the ability reveals a terrifying and unexpected nature that manages to bypass Tron's defenses and catch him off guard.

Tron did not perceive any threat coming from Adam's newfound ability. He correctly guessed that the black spear was merely a superior iteration of the white one, yet he observed nothing out of the ordinary, save for the crimson eye motifs decorating Adam's gloves.

Consequently, he opted to parry this projectile just as he had the last—deploying his signature glass barrier.

To his astonishment, he succeeded with ease, at least until…

The black spear failed to shatter the glass wall. Instead, it simply dissolved and emerged instantly on the opposite side of the barricade.

Tron now had merely a fraction of a second to react, lest the black spear skewer his throat. He lacked the fortitude to simply shrug off such a strike.

By good fortune, that momentary window was enough for him.

Crack.

Summoning internal energy into his lower limbs, Tron lunged to the side.

The pitch-black spear hissed past his neck, grazing the skin and drawing a shallow line of blood.

'Impossible!' he shouted to himself as crimson droplets drifted before his vision. 'What happened to that weapon? Did it teleport? Yes… that is precisely what occurred.'

Whoooooosh.

Tron pivoted with sudden intensity, leaving a swirling cloud of dust in his wake.

Though he had been caught off guard, he could now release a breath of relief.

"I see. So, if an obstacle blocks its path, it simply shifts through it. The core principle is that the spear must track its target in a straight line, and it will bypass anything in its way to maintain that course."

Tron tracked the dark spear as it surged forward, fully expecting it to eventually dissipate or impact the walls of the Sky Cube.

But… something caught his eye.

"Agh?"

He pivoted, focusing on the crimson glow radiating from the ocular symbols on Adam's gauntlets. The eyes blinked once, and the black spear vibrated rhythmically.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Rather than vanishing, the projectile blurred, reappearing in a different sector of the Sky Cube to strike at Tron from his left flank.

Tron's gaze sharpened, his demeanor growing far more severe.

'Understood, it is not merely a straight line. The spear will continuously adjust its trajectory until it connects with me, will it not?'

He flicked a glance at Adam. 'I could certainly dash forward and tear those gloves from his hands, which would likely terminate the technique, but what is the satisfaction in taking the easy path?'

Tron pondered several strategies, but before committing, he needed to ascertain one final detail.

'Let us witness just how desperately this spear craves its target.'

Step!

At the absolute final moment, Tron retreated, the black spear whistling past his chest.

Upon realization that it had missed, the spear shivered and relocated to the opposite side, barreling toward him again. Yet, this time, a subtle difference was palpable.

The corners of Tron's lips curled upward as he observed the tremors rippling through the air around the weapon.

'It has accelerated, and Adam's red eyes did not even need to intervene. Ha, unlike my own abilities, this one merely escalates in intensity over time. All for the sake of landing a hit?'

Whooooosh! Whoooosh! Whooooosh!

Tron was undoubtedly combat-superior to Adam, with a gap of many levels between them. Therefore, relying on his base agility and speed, he found it trivial to evade the spear a few more times.

However, once it moved for the fifth time, the red eyes flashed once more, imposing another transformation upon the weapon.

Tron smirked, watching the crimson flames that now wreathed the edges of the black spear.

"Excellent, have we progressed to the next stage? This feels like a game!"

Now, the weapon ceased its teleportation maneuvers, instead tracking Tron through a direct, high-speed kinetic path.

Moving like a homing missile, the spear curved with unnatural grace, its velocity far exceeding anything Tron had anticipated.

He barely caught sight of the dark-red fire before the point was inches from his face.

Certainly, Tron was likely nimble enough to dodge even from such a disadvantageous position, but a warning from his intuition spurred him toward a different tactic.

'You refuse to relent even after an hour of dodging? Very well, I shall simply force you to strike an unintended target!'

Click!

Tron snapped his fingers, manifesting a perfectly circular glass fragment before him, its surface shimmering with a violet sheen.

This mirror was designed to deflect any assault, and the black spear would be no exception.

Tremble!

As soon as the spearhead made contact, the resulting ripple hurled the weapon out of its trajectory.

Tron's objective was elementary: he intended for the spear to collide with a wall or stone, theoretically ending its relentless pursuit.

However…

"What the…"

The crimson flame ignited with newfound brilliance, propelling the spear to even greater speeds. It became a dark blur, vanishing before his very eyes.

This was no mere teleportation; it was a manifestation of raw speed, and the crushing pressure from above forced him to look toward the heavens.

The spear surged in size, now several times larger and wreathed in roaring, crimson flames.

"Dammit."

Silvana, observing from the periphery, remained gripped by curiosity.

'Hmm, so the black spear does not just hunt, but grows more lethal and swift if it fails a strike? But…' She narrowed her eyes. 'Is the investment worth it? The white spear possesses immense impact force. Just how lethal can this black version truly be?'

Even if one cannot evade the technique, it would remain a redundant power if the consequence of being hit wasn't catastrophic. Only if the lethality was absolute could the expenditure of Dark Energy be justified.

Adam maintained his posture in midair, silently watching as Tron scrutinized every facet of the new technique.

'Tron, it is a stroke of misfortune that you are my current subject. But I fear you will not escape this unscathed.'

Tron, however, showed no signs of surrender; he threw his arm aloft, his eyes burning with focused intensity.

Instantly, dozens of mirrors materialized around the black spear, sealing it inside a cage of glass from which there was no possible exit.
