Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1615 1615: I prefer silence

Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
As cracks spread across the protective dome, Zargos anxiously awaits Adam's awakening to confront the looming threat of Morok and his team, knowing the First Star's energy will soon be exposed. Inside his inner world, Adam integrates the Dark Energy with his white orb, transforming his Path of Tragedy into the powerful Path of Darkness, a one-time ultimate ability. Upon waking amid falling red shards and the emerging dark star remnant, Adam shares his Dark Energy with Zargos, whose aura erupts in a massive crimson flame, preparing for the impending battle.

The agreement between Adam and Zargos was finally sealed. Zargos had rescued Adam from the assault of ferocious monsters, earning a share of the Dark Energy in exchange.

Truthfully, the real value wasn't solely in the Dark Energy, but in how it stemmed directly from the black flash in Adam's possession, tying it to the First Star and its essence.

A creature of Zargos's caliber could effortlessly uncover Twilight Crystals or even unadulterated Dark Energy within long-forgotten temples hidden deep beneath the earth, yet such discoveries wouldn't propel his power forward.

Meanwhile, Adam—or rather, his predicament involving the still-secret black flash—presented itself as an ideal opportunity for Zargos.

Therefore, Zargos's smartest choice was to pour all his effort into earning Adam's confidence and turning him into a steadfast ally.

As their hands gripped tightly in a solid handshake, it was obvious that Zargos had made the correct moves.

Step.

Merra swallowed nervously, overwhelmed by the intense pressure surging from Zargos's furious aura. She held the rank of Lord too, but the disparity between them was immense. If she'd been nearer, that overwhelming force would have crushed her skeleton before she could react.

Adam escaped injury purely because he was integral to the transfer.

The majority of the Dark Energy had departed his inner realm, leaving behind only a minuscule portion—far smaller than a single droplet—circling the white sphere.

Certainly, the Dark Energy would replenish itself soon enough, just like any other form of energy. Zargos hadn't been dishonest when assuring Adam of no permanent drawbacks.

"Gha..."

It wasn't until several seconds later that Zargos released a plume of scalding vapor, his aura halting its relentless expansion.

Adam swallowed hard, staring at the scarlet blaze that enveloped his surroundings. As a newcomer, he might have believed it to be Zargos's special technique with genuine flames, but he knew it was simply the display of his aura.

"Damn, I feel great!"

Zargos declared, gesturing expansively with his arm.

"Hell yeah! Now, I'll definitely be able to see the shock on Keranda's face! Hahaha, I can't wait for that moment!"

In typical scenarios, Zargos would have kept up the jests and boasts about his boosted abilities, but not now.

All at once, his face turned grave as he regarded Merra.

"Merra, the energy release was even more powerful than we anticipated. It couldn't have gone unnoticed."

She nodded. "I'm ready to take your orders."

"Great. Take Adam and go with him to the basement. Most likely, someone from Morok's team will realize you're there, but it's the best place for you to fight. Just hold out for a few minutes, and I'll come to your aid after I deal with the others."

"Yes! I'll do my best!" Merra dashed to Adam's side and assisted him to his feet.

Although Adam had also acquired fresh power, the recent battle and the handover of Dark Energy to Zargos had left him exhausted. He limped along with Merra's help as they moved ahead.

Before exiting the mansion's confines, Adam looked back at Zargos.

"Hey. If even after everything that's happened, you can't surpass your sister, I'll be disappointed."

Zargos flashed a broad grin in reply.

"Hmm? Is that the only thing that concerns you at a time like this? Well, don't worry. I'm already stronger than her, there's no doubt about that."

Adam nodded while facing away.

He tracked their forms until they faded into the gloom, then shifted his gaze to the dense jungle encircling his residence from every direction.

"Damn, even so, it's Morok and not someone else. If it were Liliane and those weaklings against me, I could handle them with one hand, almost as easily as Goen did, but... my time is limited. Merra won't be able to hold out alone for long."

Zargos shook his head, pushing aside those notions.

His sole recourse was to anticipate their strike and reposition accordingly. He had no intention of allowing his home to turn into smoldering ruins on his account.

...

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Meanwhile, the earthworm, Ramilo, and Alexia kept advancing. They headed toward the Citadel and anticipated arriving home within a few hours.

They had already distanced themselves substantially from the Primal Lands, yet...

Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.

Ramilo's sensitive ears flicked. Alexia took immediate notice.

"Agh? What was that?" She raised an eyebrow. "Did you sense something? Is it related to Adam? Answer me! You sneaky, fat cat!"

"Hahaha," Ramilo chuckled bitterly. "Alexia, how can I answer your questions when you ask three at once?"

He nodded.

"Yeah, you're right. It has to do with Adam. They and Zargos are facing another battle."

"Hmm? Will they win?"

That single concern dominated her thoughts. She recognized above all that triumph meant continued existence.

"Sure. But..." His tone deepened. "It won't be as easy as with Goen. Zargos is weaker, like me, and his opponents are stronger than Liliane and her already dead fifth team."

"Wait!" Alexia shouted. "That means we have to stop and help them! Right now! You're strong, you tore off that bastard's arm faster than I could blink!"

Ramilo smugly groomed his whiskers.

"It's always nice to hear praise directed at me, but I assure you, you have nothing to worry about. Zargos may act like a jester 99% of the time, but that 1%... Damn, even I wouldn't want to face it."

Alexia smacked her hands against the ground.

"No! Help him! Please!"

Ramilo committed a grave error. He assumed Alexia would absorb his explanations and follow his advice.

Presently, her focus lay entirely on her feelings and the impulse to assist Adam.

'It's commendable that she cares about her friend, but I'm too old to listen to a woman yell at me for the next few hours.'

Tap.

In a rapid blur of shadow, Ramilo pressed his paw to Alexia's neck, blanking her eyes.

He nodded firmly.

"Yeah, I definitely prefer silence."
