Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1580 1580: End of Rest (Part 1)
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
For a brief moment, Adam gazed at the enormous piranha sprawled near his feet before glancing toward Goen, who found such sights entirely ordinary.
"I suppose even this piranha fails to amaze you?" Adam inquired.
Goen merely shrugged in reply.
"I hate to let you down, but running into even fiercer fish and aquatic beasts isn't rare around here. Still, for your initial attempt, it's plenty impressive."
Alexia gestured with her hand.
"Let me give it a shot too! I'm positive I can reel in more than Adam!"
Goen folded his arms across his torso.
"Feel free. Just keep it from becoming a contest. Catch one more, and we're done. You're visitors of mine, after all, but we can't devour endless amounts of food."
"Hah!" Alexia laughed lightly. "You have no idea how much I can eat! Alright, though—one attempt ought to outdo Adam easily!"
Goen went over the instructions with Alexia exactly like he'd done earlier for Adam, and nothing out of the ordinary occurred.
With high hopes of landing a true oceanic beast, she tossed the bobber into the depths. Lesser catches simply wouldn't do for her.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
Alexia's eyes went wide as the bobber tugged sharply. Quicker than Adam's pull, she yanked the rod, hauling the line from the water.
Yet... no massive silhouette or terrifying aquatic creature emerged.
A small fish, scarcely larger than her hand, landed before Alexia. Its fin fluttered desperately, yearning to slip back into the lake.
"What in the world is this?!" Alexia yelled.
Her gaze flicked rapidly between Adam and Goen.
"No way, no way! That doesn't count at all! Let me have another go!"
But in a flash, before Alexia even processed it, Goen had stepped in front and whisked the fishing rod away from her grasp.
Resting the rod upon his shoulder, he pivoted to face them.
"That was your single shot. Like I mentioned, we've got plenty already. Come along, assist me in picking out spices. I've got a bunch."
Alexia balled her hands into fists, yet she followed his lead. Goen wasn't overly strict, but it was obvious he wasn't one to trifle with.
Thus, Adam ended up solitary beside the flames. The warmth radiating from the embers would endure for quite a while, several hours at minimum, right up to the fading of the final ember.
'Hah, back in the day, a tiny spark just like that flipped my entire existence upside down. True, it wasn't actual fire, yet... the parallels are striking.'
Settling onto a nearby stone, he peered up at the starry night while gradually shutting his eyes. Sleep wasn't on his mind—he truly had no urge for it now—but a crucial task awaited him.
As he eased his eyes open, enveloping darkness claimed the space around him.
One condition of the Path Construct had been met, triggering its transformation, and the Third Grand Star glowed far sooner than anticipated.
Nevertheless, Adam's attention locked onto the Evolution Tree, specifically its core section housing not just one of his genes, but also a vital figure.
With a blink, Adam traversed scores of meters, arriving directly in Lone Blaze's quarters.
"Oh..." He breathed out, eyeing her transformed appearance. "How often has your form shifted now? The third time, or maybe fourth?"
A subtle smile curved Lone Blaze's lips as she faced him.
"What difference does the count make? The key point is my strength has surged dramatically. You're aware of that already. What are your thoughts on the fresh power you've unlocked?"
"On that note."
Adam blinked once more, and glowing runes materialized in front of him.
[End Bliss
Amid the frenzy of clashing with a mighty foe, you attained utter ecstasy. The intensity of combat blinded you to the turmoil brewing deep within your core strength. Yet now, through your resolve and the swift aid of companions attuned to your needs, you wield the might to reduce even the mightiest adversary to mere dust.]
"Hmm?"
Curiosity arched Adam's brow.
"I sensed some disturbance occurring, though I couldn't grasp its nature. You holding up alright?"
Lone Blaze gave a nod.
"Absolutely. I've never felt more invigorated. That said... reliving the ordeal to endure that torrent of fresh might isn't appealing. Still, there's an issue you need to know about."
"Huh?"
Lone Blaze averted her eyes without a word.
Adam whipped around at the perfect instant to spot the Silver Weaver perched in the shadows like it was comfortable seating. Legs folded neatly, and his hands—Adam spotted the anomaly right away.
"What? What happened to your left arm?"
The Silver Weaver shot a sharp look at Lone Blaze.
"Put it this way: the surge of your energy proved far fiercer than anticipated. Sacrificing that limb was essential for Lone Blaze's survival. If not... she'd have perished, and you wouldn't have triumphed over that dragon—spelling doom for everyone."
Adam gave a contemplative nod. He grasped the gravity of the matter and felt grateful for the Silver Weaver's decisive action in averting disaster.
"Alright, how soon until you regenerate? Losing a limb means my power's diminished now as well, doesn't it?"
Affirming with a nod, the Silver Weaver agreed.
"While I'm not fully restored, I advise against relying on your needle. Energy reserves are solid—all that's required is time and smoother circulation via the Evolution Tree."
He went on:
"Essentially, engaging in training or battles would speed my healing, but it's optional."
"Got it. Then I'll steer clear of conflicts. Risking it all isn't worth it, even for quicker recovery on your end. A week flies by quick enough."
With his remaining hand, the Silver Weaver gestured dismissively.
"Reasonable."
After a short while of covering other matters, Adam prepared to depart, though first he neared the Path Construct.
Portions of its destined radiance had already begun illuminating the Third Grand Star in his Constellation, yet it fell short.
Two additional requirements remained for him to complete.
"Blood of God and Bottomless Void, correct?" Adam whispered, eyeing the vast device.
Shadows deepened in his stare.
"If dragon blood won't suffice, what else meets that requirement, and... Bottomless Void?"
A quiver touched Adam's mouth.
"Damn, that sounds downright ominous."
