Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1571 1571: End Bliss
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Ever since Lone Blaze integrated into Adam's abilities, she had been the one manipulating his threads. Right from the outset of their path, she granted him not only the power to harness her fire in fights, but also total command over it, even transforming it into wings.
Adam appeared to have outgrown the need for such features now.
Wings were unnecessary for him anymore, as he could navigate the skies effortlessly with energy manipulation, akin to any Phantom at his level or beyond.
Or... perhaps not?
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Within the array of threads, black, white, and amber strands stood out.
The black threads, once a formidable tool amid Adam's energy, now served as the skeleton for a pair of enormous wings that spread wide behind his back.
White threads acted as a simple fabric, swiftly linking the far-apart pointed tips while carving out sharp gaps along the way.
Amber threads surged into those gaps, creating radiant golden spirals brimming with might, like grand tempests.
[You have received the Highest Bliss.]
[Part of your power has been under pressure for a long time, but it has been able to withstand and evolve.]
[You have gained a new ability from your threads – the End Bliss.]
Adam wasn't entirely sure what transpired in his inner realm, but he sensed faintly that Lone Blaze had undergone a change.
'Given my current position and the sight before me, does that mean she succeeded? Heh, no matter your strength, you still require allies to keep pace if you aim to advance, don't you?'
Vaarh swallowed hard while staring at Adam's impressive wings, at the golden vortices that rivaled his azure eye or maybe even outshone it.
Above all, those wings were crafted from three distinct thread varieties, each carrying unique traits and surging with vitality.
The amber threads allowed the passage of external energy through them, making the vortices the deadliest hazard Vaarh had to evade no matter what.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Adam's wings quivered as the vortices flared intensely, drawing every bit of energy from the countless threads linked across the wings.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Vaarh's pulse quickened, overwhelmed by sheer terror.
Pride and haughtiness vanished from his eyes completely. His mind raced solely with thoughts of survival.
'I have to flee. I need to get away!' Vaarh screamed inside as his legs jerked.
Yet, somehow, movement eluded him. His legs seemed rooted in place, frozen solid, and that was close to reality.
In dread, Vaarh glanced downward, spotting heavy ice coating his feet. His gaze traced the icy trail snaking beneath the snow, terminating directly beneath Alexia's hand.
"Y-YOU!" Vaarh glared as if to incinerate her.
Alexia merely shrugged.
"Sorry, I couldn't let him claim all the glory. I needed to join in. Huh! You shouldn't be glaring at me at this moment!"
Her words prompted Vaarh to lift his head.
His eyes captured two wings and multiple golden vortices humming with vigor, poised to strike.
"You tried to run away?" Adam tilted his chin up. "Hah, wasn't it you who declared we must battle until the finish?!"
At that instant, thick amber beams of concentrated energy erupted from Adam's wings, cascading toward Vaarh, who lacked the strength to shatter Alexia's ice.
Beam after beam followed. The vortices paused briefly, amassed more power, then unleashed the subsequent shot.
Thus, Vaarh remained rooted, forced to witness the golden stars descending.
No mercy or hatred aimed at him filled them. It was an unstoppable natural force that even a veteran dragon like him couldn't defy.
"Is that truly everything?" Vaarh whispered to himself.
Blast!
The initial amber beam hit him, ripping away his shoulder. The next bored through his torso, as the third carved a profound gash across his throat.
Ray by ray, the amber blasts shredded Vaarh's form, while his essence gradually conceded defeat.
Adam poured out every ounce of his energy. He understood Vaarh's exceptional resilience. This beast could endure with just a head intact.
When Adam's energy finally depleted and Vaarh fully acknowledged his loss, no trace of his body survived.
Crack. Crack. Crack.
The ice that once gripped Vaarh's legs splintered apart, tumbling amid a mound of soot—the final remnant of the once-proud dragon's fate.
Gradually, Adam descended to the earth before Alexia, with the breeze itself guiding his fall.
His wings, now dull and drained, crumbled with his following exhale, dissolving in front of Alexia's view.
Victory was theirs, yet silence hung heavy among them.
Step. Step. Step.
Beneath the watchful eyes of the distant monsters and Head Golem, Adam advanced before halting at a small pile of ashes amid shattered ice.
Faint gray-blue energy wisps still hovered near the ashes, but Vaarh was gone entirely. His end had arrived.
"Agh, it wrapped up so suddenly..."
Adam shook his head and gripped the ashes in his hand, observing as they slipped between his fingers.
"The Primal Lands, Frost Oasis, and the revived dragon—none of that mattered to me, but the clash with you, Vaarh. As you desired, I delivered the fiercest battle I could. Hope you're content, you smug fool."
A grin crossed Adam's face as he puffed the ashes from his palm, the gray specks stark against the surrounding blue ice and crimson snow.
Then, Adam pivoted, glancing back at Alexia over his shoulder.
"Looks like our journey through the Primal Lands is over?"
Alexia, still unable to rise due to her injured leg, flashed a grin.
"Yeah... Now we just need to track down that wyvern and settle the score with her. Though I'm not sure if I'm up for it yet."
Adam gazed upward at the heavens.
"Perhaps not on this occasion."
