After a high-stakes victory against the Head Golem, Adam has successfully integrated the Ancient Flux into the Evolution Tree. While the new gray-purple energy is immensely powerful, Adam discovers it is currently limited, possessing a volatile will of its own that differs from his usual star energy. As the duo prepares to move forward, Silvana finds herself unexpectedly overwhelmed by the ancient power. The energy begins to envelop her, triggering a transformation that threatens to change the Operator just as much as the Phantom.

While the Ancient Flux served as the fountainhead of primordial energy, it remained intrinsically linked to the Evolution Tree. Even the Path Construct maintained a constant interaction with the Evolution Tree, despite not being a direct component of its structure.

Adam now possessed the ability to manipulate this ancient energy at will. Though he grasped this fact, the true extent of this power’s potential remained a mystery he had yet to unravel. For the time being, his mind only grasped its most basic uses.

However, the Ancient Flux was far more than a simple reservoir; it was a fundamental piece of Adam's strength that resonated with every element of the Evolution Tree, reaching Silvana through the Evolution Vein.

This Evolution Vein served as the storage for all of Silvana’s techniques and their collective powers. Had she not been present, Adam would have found himself unable to manifest the Imaginary Cut or the Future of the Past.

This was a reality shared by every Phantom. Certain exceptionally potent abilities could only be triggered when channeled through their specific Operator.

Naturally, if these were classified as abilities, there was always a path forward for advancement and further evolution.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

A slight tremor shook Silvana’s frame, her eyes fixed wide open. Though Adam felt a surge of concern, he refrained from stopping the flow. Sensing no immediate peril to Silvana, he chose to place his confidence in her and his own capabilities.

It was a rare moment where Adam was relegated to the role of a spectator, left in the dark regarding Silvana's internal experience.

Inside her vision, she watched the ancient energy drift toward two distinct clusters of power, which looked like a network of countless branches meeting at a singular core.

These clusters were the actual foundations of their two synchronized techniques: the Imaginary Cut and the Future of the Past.

Silvana found herself paralyzed and speechless. Yet, she noticed a peculiar detail:

'The energy... it has stopped moving.'

She contemplated the situation.

'Is the Ancient Flux awaiting my command? Am I the one who must select which ability to transform?'

In the past, such pivotal decisions had always rested on Adam’s shoulders. She had watched him through a long journey as he oversaw the evolution, merging, or total disappearance of various skills.

Now that the burden of responsibility had shifted to her, Silvana’s heart began to race under the pressure.

Faced with the choice between two powers, she found the decision far more daunting than she had anticipated.

What if her judgment was flawed? What if the resulting power was inferior to the original? Would Adam be disappointed by her choice?

A flood of doubts overwhelmed Silvana as she hovered on the brink of indecision, until...

"No, I cannot allow myself to think that way."

Silvana shook her head, her wavering stare hardening into one of resolve.

"There is no such thing as a wrong choice here. I will follow my will, just as Adam always does. Out of every possibility, this is the path!"

With no further doubt, Silvana gestured toward the cluster on the left, representing the Imaginary Cut. This was their inaugural shared ability, born the moment Silvana gained her spectral form.

Though the consequences and the nature of the changes the Ancient Energy would bring were unknown, she followed her intuition.

"I wish to see the evolution of this power!"

The energy currents surged toward the first cluster, igniting a brilliant radiance that swallowed the darkness and temporarily blinded Silvana.

When she finally blinked her eyes clear, the first thing she encountered was Adam’s bewildered face.

"Hey, are you okay? Did you have a reaction to the ancient energy?"

Before a reply could be formed, a violent shudder vibrated through the Evolution Tree.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Their gazes were drawn simultaneously to the Evolution Vein. It pulsed with a fierce light, its boundaries expanding as it prepared to stretch further across the Evolution Tree.

[This process will require some time...]

The voice of the Evolution Tree suddenly echoed through the space.

"Hah, it’s been a while since I heard from you, old man," Adam said with a smirk.

[Be quiet... I am as old as you are... perhaps even younger, given the situation. But... that isn't the priority right now, is it?]

Silvana looked up and nodded solemnly.

"Will the outcome be alright? Was my choice the right one?"

Adam arched an eyebrow. He was beginning to piece together what had transpired between Silvana and the ancient power.

[I apologize, Silvana, but I cannot say... I can only inform you that one of your abilities will be inaccessible for the duration... though you likely already realize that, Silvana...]

She gave a nod of understanding. Until the Imaginary Cut completed its evolution, the skill was locked away.

[The Evolution Vein shall expand bit by bit... Once the transformation of the ability concludes, you will both be notified... Patience is required, as is the gathering of energy... particularly the ancient kind, if you wish to hasten the growth...]

The Evolution Tree fell silent as the light within the cracks of the Evolution Vein began to push forward, carving out a path to accommodate the impending power.

"Adam..." Silvana turned to him, her expression clouded with anxiety. "The power I chose to alter is—!"

Adam cut her off by placing a hand over her mouth, causing her to stare at him in shock.

"Tch. You don't need to tell me." Adam let out a smirk. "I'll find out once the process is finished, won't I?"

She nodded slowly.

"Then I'd rather wait for the surprise. I have no doubt you picked correctly."

To his surprise, Silvana shook her head in disagreement.

"Hmm?"

Silvana tightened her fists, a look of fierce determination on her face.

"I did what I wanted! It... It was my own decision!"

A predatory glint sparked in Adam's eyes as he watched her.

"Good. That’s very good. I have nothing to fret over then. I'm certain this new power will lead me to many more triumphs and bloody conflicts!"

Silvana nodded. "It is time for you to return now."

"Yeah, I suppose it is."

Adam shut his eyes, shifting his consciousness back to Frost Ridge.

Whoooooosh.

The moment he regained his senses, a violent rush of wind whistled past—it was Alexia, making another desperate attempt to shatter the barrier.

Alexia tumbled into the snow but scrambled up instantly, her face flushed with irritation.

"SHIT! If he obtained ancient energy, then I must have it too!"

Adam could only manage a wry smile.

"I take it I'll be waiting?"

"You bet!" Alexia shouted fiercely, glaring at the Head Golem. "Prepare yourself to teach me that as well!"
