Endless Debt Chapter 672 - 183: The Rage Tide Guard

~5 minute read · 1,246 words

To ensure the safety of the shipping routes, the United Company established its own armed fleet, of which the Horror is one.

Under the heavy rain, the Horror unleashed its full firepower, with all guns repeatedly spewing flames, hurling heavy shells towards the Wrecked Ship Shore. A fierce fire erupted over the remnants, the dead giants emitted wailing sounds, and even the corpses could not remain.

A gleam appeared in the captain’s eyes, and the same gleam surfaced in the eyes of those around him.

Unlike other warships, the Horror is an extraordinary warship. Similar to the Paradise, its core crew members are all Condensers, the ship is covered with a powerful Void Realm, and it is equipped with various large Alchemy Armaments.

The Horror directly reports to the Board, known among the Tide People as the Vortex Guard. Now, these sea butchers have arrived at Wrecked Ship Shore, ordered to destroy the place.

The bombardment lasted for several minutes, stopping only when the Wrecked Ship Shore had completely turned into scorched earth. Billows of black smoke rose continuously, even the fierce wind and rain could not extinguish them.

Several speedboats were lowered into the sea, loaded with Condensers, ready to go ashore and check thoroughly to ensure complete eradication.

The Vortex Guard, being a violent institution directly subordinate to the Board, is well-aware of the current situation of the Tide People and the external dangers they face.

They are not unfamiliar with Hert. Hert was once a member of the Vortex Guard. If possible, the Vortex Guard would rather not be enemies with Hert.

But Hert has crossed the line. He has colluded with the Zongge Orchestra and used the Wrecked Ship Shore as his base, amassing power.

Now that the Order Bureau and the King’s Secret Sword have regrouped, the situation among the Narrow Countries has become turbulent. The Tide People do not wish to join any side’s conflict, and if necessary, they are even prepared to abandon Free Port and retreat into the depths of the sea.

Hert’s actions now undoubtedly challenge the bottom line of the Tide People. The Board has had enough of this madman; it is time to end it all.

Aboard the speedboat, the Vortex Guards remained silent, with a heavy atmosphere hanging over them.

They are well aware of Hert’s abilities and his strength. The initial round of shelling was merely to destroy buildings and crush those Demons, Low Tier Condensers. Given Hert’s expertise in Etherealization, this level of artillery bombardment is not enough to kill him completely.

Amidst the scorched wreckage, Lebius pushed away the steel pressing on him, stood up, and at this moment, he appeared to be in a sorry state. His clothes were tattered, his body covered in scrapes, blood flowed down his arms, congealing at his fingertips, and dripped down.

"Hunting Hert?"

Lebius converses with Yuriel, "Hert isn’t here... there’s only a bunch of Zongge Orchestra guys here."

Realizing he had been deceived and that this was a trap, Lebius began searching for Hert. But after taking down several Condensers, he still could not find Hert’s trace.

He concluded, "These Vortex Guards struck a hollow."

"So where do you think that bastard would be?"

Another voice joined the conversation, sounding irate and angry.

On the other side of the Wrecked Ship Shore, an iron-cast barricade toppled and crumbled, and Bologue staggered out. He appeared much stronger than Lebius, but the burning flames had still blackened his face.

Yuriel’s train stopped on the distant tracks, the Heart Core Net covered the entire Wrecked Ship Shore, linking the two of them.

"I... I don’t know."

Lebius shook his head, "Hert has changed too much over the years, I can’t grasp his thoughts anymore."

"But... if the Vortex Guards can’t find Hert, would they see us as enemies..."

Aimou cautiously interjected into the conversation.

Bologue and Lebius’s expressions changed dramatically, though they were not together, they both looked towards the seafront where speedboats were rapidly advancing towards the Wrecked Ship Shore, the blurry shadows slowly became clear.

"Damn!"

At this moment, Lebius also loudly complained, ether reactions rose from the sea, unfamiliar ether descended on his side hundreds of meters away. He had been detected by the Vortex Guard.

"Are we going to engage the Vortex Guard in combat?"

Bologue quickly shifted position. The Vortex Guards were landing near Lebius’s side, whereas he evaded their perception.

"No... Hert isn’t here, there’s no need to engage them in conflict."

Lebius quickly calmed down. He did not act recklessly but remained in place, allowing his ether to release gently, informing the Vortex Guards of his presence in a friendly manner.

Just as Lebius contemplated his next action, specks of firelight rose kilometers away, flames soared to the sky, even the rain curtain could hardly obscure it completely. The light melted into the wind and rain, flickering like stardust across the sky.

The faint sound of explosions slowly arrived, whether it was Bologue or Lebius, even the crew on the Horror witnessed this scene.

That direction is Free Port.

"The Paradise!"

Aimou’s voice echoed within the Heart Core Net.

"Hert deliberately lured us here..."

A vague conspiracy formed in Lebius’s mind. He guessed that the towering firelight was caused by Hert, who had designed all of this, intending to use the Zongge Orchestra here to hold him back?

No... not just to hold him back, but also to use him to delay the Vortex Guard.

The speedboats crashed onto the shore, the raincoat-clad Vortex Guards were ready, high-concentration ether hovered above the ruins, and a major battle was imminent.

"Bologue, you and Yuriel go to the Paradise," Lebius commanded.

Bologue retorted, "What about you?"

"I’ll negotiate with the Vortex Guards," Lebius faced the figures in the wind and rain, slowly raised his hands, "The Order Bureau accepted Nolen’s deal, at least until we get Gold back, we have to stand on Nolen’s side."

Bologue pondered for a moment, he did not question Lebius’s decision, having always given straightforward trust to his silent leader.

Turning around to sprint along the train’s position, Bologue effortlessly leaped over obstacles, crashing into the dense forest beyond the coast. Yuriel, fearing Bologue might not find the train’s location, sounded the whistle repeatedly.

The armed carriage began to shake violently, the tremor originating from the carriage adjoining Yuriel’s front, utilizing limited local resources, Yuriel spent a morning modifying the train, also taking on some goods from the Order Bureau.

The piercing sound of cutting was relentless, as if a monster inside the carriage... a group of monsters was about to escape its cage.

The train started to move, accelerating, when Bologue charged out of the forest, sprinting along the tracks, and when he cast a hook, leaping onto the train’s roof, the side of the carriage burst apart.

Azure light arose under the cold steel, the Blade-Biting Wolves leaped off the train one after another, whipping up a biting chill and hurtling towards Lebius’s location, running wild.

Bologue knew that Lebius would not concede so easily, thus he hoped the Vortex Guards would be sensible, for his leader was truly the most ruthlessly cold.

The train thundered forward, in the distance, the burning flames resembled a bright torch, guiding everyone’s direction.
