Endless Debt Chapter 1616 - 114: The Arrogant Morning Star
Previously on Endless Debt...
The Heartless, known as Nansen, stumbled as if hitting an invisible wall, then as if unseen wires sliced through its body; in the brief journey, its body was torn apart, fragments, and severed limbs flying.
But before completely hitting the ground, numerous blood threads extended between the flesh, like sutures, re-connecting the shattered flesh.
This peculiar scene unfolded before Bologue and others, the two states of death and regeneration overlapping on Nansen, endowed with incomparable speed and power by the Defender.
The claws tearing through the flesh were like parallel sharp swords; Nansen instinctively swung the claws of death at Bologue, yet as the claws were about to shred Bologue’s face, a series of crisp metallic sounds rang out.
The faint glow of the Immortal Armor on Nansen had completely extinguished, blinding sparks and arcs suddenly appeared on the surface of the metal like a machine in overload malfunction; then cracks grew like vines wild over the armor until the sword tip of resentment lightly tapped it, and after a distant lament, the Immortal Armor collapsed with a roar.
Like an eggshell being peeled away, the Immortal Armor wrapping Nansen shattered section by section, and due to the collapse of the Alchemy Matrix, its extraordinary characteristics returned to ordinary mortality; the amplification power it provided Nansen vanished in an instant.
Nansen did not realize anything was amiss; its fragmented mind had been unable to process complex matters since a hundred years ago; only primal instincts existed in its mind.
Bloodthirsty instinct.
Sharp and piercing noises erupted, iron branches surged from Bologue’s sleeves, behind, like a spider or octopus unfurling limbs, the dense offensive was as sudden as arrow volleys, rain of bullets, instantly hitting Nansen completely, riddling it with holes.
Having lost the amplification and protection of Immortal Armor, Nansen’s power was greatly weakened although it was a Defender itself; but the Alchemy Matrix lagging a hundred years in power conversion efficiency could not compare with Bologue.
Flowers of iron blossomed on Nansen’s body, simultaneously thorny vines wrapped circle by circle around its body, locked its joints; the more Nansen struggled, these thorny blade-like thorns pierced deeper into its body until Nansen itself cut its body into pieces.
"How many of these Heartless are there in the Royal City?"
Bologue raised his hand, and the Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid solidified, like a coffin, completely sealing Nansen in place.
"Probably quite a few," Serey walked over leisurely, "According to my speculation, most members of the Imperial Guard would tend toward madness over the prolonged lust for blood."
"Currently the Regent King hasn’t eradicated them, but rather raised them, donned them in Immortal Armor, seemingly treating the Heartless as some form of power."
Serey stood before Nansen; the monstrous creature roared low, crimson eyes met Serey’s, and in an instant, some sanity flickered in its pupils.
"Ser... Serey?"
Muffled words emerged from Nansen’s broken throat, the voice deep as if the call of lost souls.
Serey somewhat surprised responded, "Oh? You still remember me?"
"Serey!"
Nansen roared manically, exhausting all its strength, attempting to slaughter Serey, but only allowed its body to be shredded by thorns, the entire left arm collapsing, chest shredded completely, head twisted, blood soaked.
Bologue observed silently; despite a shattered mind, Nansen’s hatred towards Serey remained ingrained in its bones; a little imagination made Bologue speculate on events of the past.
The imprisoned Night Race endured the torment of Bloodthirsty Syndrome while cursing Serey with the most venomous words; they prayed for Serey’s ruin, willing to pay any price for it.
"Serey! Serey!"
Nansen now incapable of speech could only repeatedly howl Serey’s name.
Serey showed a distressed expression, somewhat headache from the constant roars; a faint Ether light surfaced under his crimson eyes, Serey strained to suppress his Ether responses, until absolute Ethereal Concealment separated him from the mortal realm.
"Alright, alright, stop shouting."
Serey said, hugged Nansen smilingly; Nansen bared its fangs attempting to bite through Serey’s throat, yet as it opened its mouth, all its strength seemed drained, gaze hollowed, pale body shriveled as if contracted.
"After so many years, consider us old friends indeed."
Serey gently patted Nansen’s back, "Had I known, I would’ve killed you back then too; then you wouldn’t have become this way."
Nansen slowly bowed its head; the Bloodthirsty Dagger pierced through its heart, cold metal gradually heating as if infused with life, greedily sucking Nansen’s blood, fully draining that forbidden immortal power from its shell.
Serey swiftly withdrew the dagger, now filled with blood, its crimson hues vividly full; he retreated a few steps, gestured towards Bologue, then Bologue clenched his outstretched hand; intersecting thorns tightened and straightened, like crossing sharp swords, shredding Nansen’s shriveled body thoroughly into pieces.
