Palmer successfully completed his ascension ceremony and returned to a semblance of normalcy, though his father, Fuen, had requisitioned him for upcoming conflicts. Bologue reflected on the nature of war and the Order Bureau's isolationist policies, sharing his somber experiences from the Scorched Earth Fury.

Palmer went to work, wearing an expression as if he was about to die when he left. It seemed that recently Fuen had been putting this guy through the wringer. It’s understandable; with the war approaching, even a Seeker of Glory can’t avoid it. Fuen should start training Palmer properly to prepare for that dark future.

Bologue tidied up the house simply, then sat on the sofa with a bewildered expression.

There’s still some time before his vacation ends, and with the crisis in the Abandoned Land resolved, the fourth group has been reassigned to other positions. The vast Order Bureau temporarily isn’t in a hurry to make use of a small player like Bologue.

Boring.

For someone like Bologue, filled with action, vacation is a time full of torment.

Bologue is a person who can’t sit idle. Once idle, he can’t help but overthink, digging up one worry after another, and repeatedly examining them, torturing himself.

"Ah... What does this count as?"

In his low murmur, Bologue opened his manual, the Origin Manual that recorded all the information Bologue had collected.

Now, Bologue has opened two new Chapters in this manual, one concerning the Devil.

From various observations during battles, Bologue speculated that the essence of the Devil should be those writhing tar, and as for their form presented before humans, it’s merely a vessel for negotiation.

This pitch-black tar reminded Bologue of the shadows in the Ethereal Realm; it should be the projection of the Devil in the Ethereal Realm, and there should be some connections between them.

It seems that as long as these connections are understood and the essence of the tar is clarified, Bologue feels that he can unveil the Devil’s mask and see their true form.

Bologue is getting closer to the truth.

Turning this Chapter, a brand new content appeared before Bologue’s eyes.

"Who am I?"

The first thing that entered his eyes was this big line of text.

For many years, Bologue had been troubled over who he really was. Initially, he thought he was a ghost from the Otherworld, but from Saqin’s memories and King Solomon’s words, Bologue discovered this isn’t the case.

New World Plan.

King Solomon tried to create a new world to escape the Devil’s control, and for this, he sent countless souls into the void. In the end, one such naive newborn soul brought back the memories and coordinates of that world.

Mammon sensed King Solomon’s anomaly; he didn’t know what King Solomon was researching but still launched a raid to disrupt it. In the crisis, King Solomon smoothly pushed that soul into the Soulless created by Saqin.

Analyzing the information from the soul’s echo, to avoid further pursuit by Mammon, King Solomon sent this completed work away from Raymond Gaudent...

Bologue guessed that in the days that followed, King Solomon continued his research until Mammon gathered enough information, and all the Devils perceived King Solomon’s danger.

Fall of the Holy City.

This is an unusually vast and complicated information, but under Bologue’s arrangement, everything became clear and simple.

Bologue knew the reasons behind everything, yet he was still somewhat... unable to accept.

Unable to accept his own identity.

This feeling is as if you woke up one morning as a cat, you understand what happened, but still feel dizzy regarding your own identity.

Bologue left the house, wandering aimlessly along the streets, passing through the bustling streets, arriving at a secluded park.

Looking at the green wilderness everywhere, Bologue suddenly realized that he had been in Oath City, Opus for so many years, yet the number of times he had come to the park could be counted on one hand.

Sitting on the bench by the lake, Bologue continued to ponder.

Bologue thought of his parents from Redwood Town, then of Saqin and Suzi, recalling his "past life’s" memories.

Long ago, Bologue had already realized there was something wrong with his "past life"; he could recall fragment after fragment, but could never weave them into a complete life. Moreover, he didn’t even know the name of his "past life."

It wasn’t a past life, nor was it a traversal, merely a newborn soul implanted with a memory that didn’t belong to him, leading him to mistakenly think he had already lived an entire life.

From the beginning, Bologue’s life was twisted, and upon knowing the truth, he felt he should be sad at this moment — for Saqin, for Suzi, for his parents from Redwood Town, and for the whole Redwood Town...

Feeling sad for the disappearance of all of this.

But Bologue’s heart was only filled with a bleakness; he couldn’t muster even a trace of emotion. Perhaps Bologue had lived too long, long enough that those memories seemed like another person’s life from his perspective, and he couldn’t empathize even a bit.

Then, an overwhelming sadness captured Bologue.

Bologue tilted his head back forcefully, gazing at the azure sky. He felt sad for his indifference, sad for his coldness, sad for himself being a cold-blooded person.

Sometimes Bologue also didn’t understand why his life became like this.

"May I sit here?"

An aged, rugged voice sounded. Bologue turned his head, and it was a frail old man, hunched over, holding a cane.

Bologue glanced at the bench along the lake, and all other positions were vacant. But Bologue didn’t refuse and instead nodded.
