Bologne examines the banquet hall, deducing the scholars' demise was a sacrificial ritual orchestrated by Saqin. When a monstrous fleshy growth emerges from the dome, Bologne uses Saqin's badge to escape through a Curved Path Gate, arriving in what appears to be Saqin's research chamber.

Aimou separated from Bologue and evaluated this place from a scholar’s perspective.

Scholars not only need theoretical exploration but also practical experimentation. Judging by the looks of it, this is merely Saqin’s research room; the location of his laboratory is still uncertain.

"This place is very well preserved—not scorched by the burning light nor stained by the flesh of this world’s calamity."

Bologue carefully examined the crystal curtain walls, finding them nearly flawless except for a few cracks.

"Alright, the archaeological work begins."

Aimou walked towards the desk under the layers of bookshelves with a fiery gaze. It’s very messy here, just like every scholar’s desk, but interestingly, Saqin should have had time to organize all this, yet he did not. Various documents and notes were left on the desk, covered in dust.

Bologue stepped over to a standing board, where he saw sheets of paper pinned up with exquisite sketches depicting oval forms adorned with patterns, accompanied by numerous dense texts.

Previously in the Ruins District, Bologue couldn’t recognize the information because those words were filled with complex academic terms, some of which he didn’t even know.

Now, these words made Bologue feel the same sense of powerlessness he once felt, and this time it was deeper, as these texts seemed to him like another language entirely.

"Do you recognize this script?" Bologue asked Aimou, "Could Raymond Gaudent have used another language?"

"You guessed right, but not entirely."

Aimou approached, her eyes’ rings subtly contracting, "This is encrypted text."

She went on to explain, "Scholars often use such texts to record information to protect their research. Only those who master the relevant encryption language can understand their words."

"Indeed, this quite fits the scholars’ temperament."

Bologue nodded, refraining from further comment, instead asking, "Can you read it then?"

"I can," Aimou replied, "Since the Fall of the Holy City, the initial members of the Order Bureau have amassed the heritage of King Solomon and began deciphering these texts at that very time."

Aimou confidently patted her chest, "Before setting out on this mission, I had already studied these encryption texts. It’s not a problem for me, but translating them requires some time."

"Alright."

This was good news. If Aimou couldn’t understand these texts either, Bologue would have to find a way to package them all for transport. Unfortunately, Bologue wasn’t much of a cultured person and could only rely on Aimou.

If this mission were to Sai Zong’s arsenal to pick out the most perfect weapon, Bologue would definitely complete it flawlessly.

"They look like some kind of embryo."

While Aimou translated, Bologue examined these images, voicing his thoughts.

"Hmm," Aimou paused her thoughts, referring to the information translated so far, "Saqin was researching some kind of embryo, and these are related materials."

"Understood, I won’t disturb you any longer."

Having said this, Bologue walked towards the desk to see if he could find something else. He supposed Saqin wouldn’t use encrypted text for everything, right? Could encrypted text be the common language of Raymond Gaudent?

While Bologue complained about these scholars, he rummaged through the desk, which had accumulated a thick layer of dust. With a few flaps, the dust choked Bologue, making him sneeze hard.

As the dust flew, the pages swayed stiffly, and one sheet drifted from the desk onto the ground, which Bologue bent down to pick up. Familiar words came into view.

The writing on this page was not encrypted but in common script.

For a moment, Bologue was moved to tears, finally encountering something he could understand.

"Dear Hill..."

The handwriting was somewhat blurred, but at first glance, Bologue recognized the text, reading it aloud, then freezing in place.

Hill?

The name was not unfamiliar to Bologue, and his memory was instantly drawn back into the phantasmagoric Ether Realm.

Indeed, amid that blazing storm, Bologue had collided with the echo of a soul, wherein he beheld an entire life, that life named Hill.

"No way?"

Bologue wondered if it was just a namesake, but his subconscious told him this was no mere coincidence.

He chose not to continue reading but laid out the sheet, striving to calm himself, then speculated on the various aspects of the page.

Was this written by Saqin? It was not using encrypted text, just ordinary paper, like torn from a notebook.

The sheet was laid flat on the desk, appearing that Saqin didn’t intend to conceal it, indicating this ought to be a message for "Hill."

It seems Hill hadn’t seen Saqin’s message, but years later, Bologue did.

"Dear Hill."

Bologue composed himself, reading the subsequent text.

"I wonder, when you see me addressing you as Hill, will you be angry? Haha.

Alright, please pardon my offense. Compared to those noble names and grand titles, I prefer addressing you as Hill, as if calling you so, you remain the adorable little junior brother in my memory."

Bologue memorized the intelligence revealed in this text and held it securely in his heart.

"I... I still cannot accept your proposal, nor understand it, but you are right; someone must make decisions, right or wrong. As an indecisive person, I have no right to objection.

So, even without acceptance or understanding, yet, I wish to believe you—not your identity, your status, but you yourself, that Hill in my memory.

After writing these words, I shall proceed to the banquet hall, most scholars are there. I will officiate the ceremony with them; the other rituals are underway.

Death is approaching... curious indeed, I know that I will die completely, yet also know, I shall meet you again, even say these words to you in person. But it feels somehow different; after all, I will no longer be myself then, even if he resembles me greatly.

In light of this, the true Saqin Grama apologizes to you, sorry, Hill.

The teacher was indeed correct, even without the power of the Devil; you remain the greatest scholar, worthy of inheriting the name Wolfgang Gold. Whereas I... envy clouded my heart, leading to a pact with the Devil.

I... I merely wished to create a pure human, a true Soulless, oblivious it was the Devil’s plot. He deceived me, even if we made amends then, but what transpired afterward...

Apologies, I truly wish to say these words face-to-face with Suzi.

Say them to that child."

Bologue looked toward the end of the sheet, where a line of faded text could be seen.

"May our sacrifice become the cornerstone of the future."
