Endless Debt Chapter 1307 - 94: Identity Crisis_3

"Is your stress overwhelming?" Aimou calmly asked, "According to your mindset, if you’ve come to me, it must mean the stress is about to explode."
Aimou’s words pulled Bologue back to reality. Bologue was about to say something casual to cover up, but then Aimou suddenly grabbed Bologue’s hand, with a glimmer in her eyes.
Bologue whispered, "It’s not okay to trespass."
"Then call the police."
Aimou looked cheeky and said mischievously, "What? Tell others I broke into your ’heart’? They’d just think you’re foolish."
"You’ve grown a bit mischievous, Aimou."
Aimou’s pun left Bologue unsure how to counterattack for a moment.
"It means you’ve taught me well, teacher."
Aimou stroked Bologue’s palm, feeling the rough calluses akin to a hard rasp.
"What happened?" Aimou asked again.
Bologue took a deep breath, gathered his courage, and said with difficulty, "I’ve been wondering what I really am."
Wiping his fingers, Bologue’s eyes were full of doubt as he touched his chest, then remembered that he had quit smoking since dealing with the Man-eater.
Bologue couldn’t recall how he became a Debtor, nor did he understand what trades he made with Leviathan.
"I’ve forgotten many things, things significant enough to define my personal existence," Bologue paused, then asked a question he once posed before, "If one day you discover that the real you and the anticipated you are entirely different, even contradictory, what would you do?"
"An identity crisis?"
Aimou easily identified Bologue’s issue; she had encountered similar circumstances, once believing she was Teda’s only one, when in fact she was merely a substitute.
"Bologue, did you know that human cells regenerate over time?" Aimou asked.
"I know."
"It means, materially speaking, yesterday’s you and today’s you aren’t the same person."
"But I have the Blessing, the Time Reversing Axis..."
"Enough with the literal stuff! You’re such an idiot, how can you be so dumb at a time like this." Aimou pinched Bologue’s elbow.
"Okay, okay, continue."
"I’m saying, don’t always dwell on who you were. Even if you recall your past, so what? You might have been a vile villain then, but it doesn’t affect who you are now."
Aimou summed up, "The past isn’t important; what matters is who you are now and the choices you make for your future."
Bologue nodded somewhat confused, habitually reaching for a fry, only to have Aimou slap it away forcefully.
"That’s mine!"
...
In the bloody and sticky Flesh Cave, blood and decaying corpses were everywhere, with the stench filling every corner of the space. The Blood Lake’s surface remained silent, without a ripple, like a mirror.
"There’s bad news."
A voice slowly echoed from the cave’s entrance. Soon, a figure strode in on the soft flesh ground, patiently waiting before the Blood Lake.
The Blood Lake boiled, a pale figure emerged like a mermaid from the blood, and as she descended, the flowing blood solidified beneath her, forming a distorted throne of blood.
"Our indecisive blood relative has made his choice."
Mammon adjusted his tie and spoke in a deeply sorrowful tone.
"Where did you get the news?"
Upon hearing this, Beelzebub, who had been composed, became stern.
"He told me himself."
Mammon stepped aside, allowing Beelzebub to notice another heavy and slow footstep approaching in the bloody cave.
A towering, bloated figure strolled in, the ridiculous diving suit so conspicuous, surrounded by a swarm of silent, stealthy black fish.
"Long time no see, my dear blood relatives."
Leviathan walked with open arms, as if ready to embrace them.
"Leviathan?"
At the sight of Leviathan, Beelzebub’s mood swung from shock to anger, the Blood Lake violently bubbling, even evaporating into thick liquid steam, causing the entire Flesh Cave to shake intensely, countless blood-soaked slender arms reaching out, swaying like grass in the wind.
"What are you doing here?"
No matter what, Beelzebub never expected Leviathan to show up in person.
"What else am I here for?"
Leviathan withdrew his arms, performed a courteous gesture, and then bowed gently to her and Mammon.
"I just feel that declaring war is a very serious matter," he said mercilessly, "so I came personally to announce your destruction."
Mammon remained silent, observing coldly, while Beelzebub seethed with anger, the blood sea boiling.
Beneath the heavy helmet, Leviathan cracked a hideous smile unseen by anyone.
