Endless Debt Chapter 1168 - 22: Penance Walk_4

"You cannot kill me, don’t forget the faith you serve!"
Gami backed away, cowering in the corner. He was clueless about what was happening to York, placing all his hope on the faith that tightly bound York, praying it would save his life in this moment.
Indeed, for the sake of faith, York could let his sins go unpunished. For faith, he had died laughably. For faith, he would certainly spare him.
"I know, I know," York's voice was chillingly ruthless, a twisted smile echoing in his throat. "Don’t be afraid, child. I can feel the same pain as you."
Gami looked up, only then realizing that thorny chains had completely ensnared York. Every movement he made, every punch he threw, caused the chains to bind tighter, the barbs digging deeper into his flesh.
It was unimaginable agony. Gami marveled at how York endured it. What broke Gami even more was that York could still smile amidst such torment.
Reaching out, York stroked Gami’s head, whispering, "Child, I will endure the pain with you. You are not alone."
York’s scarlet eyes overflowed with pity. "It’s not your fault, Gami."
Gami was stunned.
"It is I, my mercy led you to fall into darkness. I should bear the same sin as you. So..."
York pulled Gami upright, his voice booming.
"Confess to me, child."
As York spoke, he delivered a heavy blow, crushing Gami’s chest. Shattered ribs pierced through Gami’s organs like blades. He retched, spewing thick blood and fragments.
"I confess, Priest. I confess. I’m sorry."
The threat of agony and death shattered Gami’s reason, and he wept bitterly.
York shook his head. "No, child. You are not devout enough."
Thorns raked Gami’s thigh, their sharp barbs tearing away large swathes of skin. The extreme pain caused Gami to scream uncontrollably, yet no one heard his lamentations. The increasingly thunderous sounds drowned out all his wretchedness.
"It’s alright, child. We have plenty of time to make you repent."
York raised his hand. The Blood of the Night Race dripped from his palm, seeping into Gami’s mouth. Instantly, Gami sensed a sinister power. The raging Devil questioned him through the transferred blood, listening to his choices.
Gami instinctively knew that accepting this power would allow him to escape the Grim Reaper’s pursuit. However, once he accepted the Undying Power, he also knew the endless pain that awaited him afterward. But if he refused, true death would be his fate.
Gami looked at York, whose face still wore that cold smile, like a sacred statue stained with filth and blood.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry..."
Gami continued to plead. Meanwhile, blood-red hues gradually covered his pupils. His ruptured abdomen began to heal, but as soon as the flesh reassembled, it was torn open again by thorns.
Heal, tear, heal, tear...
With the blessing of the Blood of the Night Race, Gami possessed formidable life force. Like a brutal punishment, Gami neither dared to face death nor could he endure this extreme pain. He was swallowed by a whirlpool of contradictions, chewed and crushed.
His remaining will was riddled with fissures until his sanity was entirely lost. Within this near-chaotic consciousness, words echoed in his mind like a curse.
"Confess to me, child."
