Encircled completely, Red Dog unleashed a whirlwind of blade attacks with speed defying sight. His swordplay was so rapid that it seemed to cleave the very air, resulting in a cacophony of sharp explosions.
The onslaught of the Blade-Biting Wolves faltered for a moment. Instantly, their metallic bodies became riddled with countless sword marks, causing numerous blades to fracture, their fragments launching outward like deadly projectiles.
This display was not surprising to Lebius. He had already witnessed Red Dog's formidable power during the clandestine war. While others might deem Red Dog deranged, Lebius understood it was a facade; falling for it meant walking straight into Red Dog's machinations.
Another wave of Blade-Biting Wolves pushed forward, their thousand blades forming a closing maw akin to a meat grinder, intent on ensnaring Red Dog.
The two factions commenced their assault techniques, advancing in layers, clashing and grinding against one another. Raw Ether surged violently between them, weaving and shifting at sharp angles, intensifying with each moment. They fought with the ferocity of savage beasts, unleashing their destructive might without restraint.
Wisely, onlookers kept their distance from the epicenter of the conflict. The fierce battle between these Defenders was beyond their ability to intervene. Bologue observed from afar, yet unlike the others, he kept a firm grip on his Sword Axe, patiently seeking an opportune moment to strike down Red Dog.
A second opportunity.
This was Lebius's second chance to end Red Dog. Failure would signify the end of his Blood Contract with Belphegor, and his soul would forfeit its liberty.
Bologue was determined to prevent such an outcome.
Red Dog broke free from the encirclement, sparks showering from his sword's tip, igniting with the fervor of combat.
His speed was astonishing, even for a Defender, appearing to transcend the limits of imagination, as if each powerful stroke was imbued with Ethereal Amplification.
Accompanied by thunderous booms, Red Dog closed the distance, driving his Secret Sword towards Lebius with brutal force and blinding speed.
Lebius seldom resorted to personal weaponry; the Blade-Biting Wolves served as his extensions, his very blades.
One Blade-Biting Wolf sprang forward, positioning itself between the combatants. Metal shrieked against metal in a desperate struggle of parries and counters.
Lebius gestured, and another Blade-Biting Wolf joined the fray. The dense barrage of metal hacked at the Secret Sword, attempting to sever it. However, in the violent exchange, the myriad of blades shattered into pieces, while the Secret Sword remained utterly unharmed.
"Lebius! You haven't forgotten this sword, have you?" Red Dog bellowed. "That would be deeply disappointing!"
The Secret Sword pulsed, its rolling Ether erupting with power beyond comprehension. Red Dog effortlessly repelled the Blade-Biting Wolf, forcing Lebius to retreat once more.
The crimson blur stood defiantly before him. Lebius remained speechless. How could he possibly forget this Secret Sword? It was this very blade that had brutally ended the lives of several of his comrades.
Lebius recalled the name of this infamous Secret Sword.
The Immovable Sword.
Its design was stark and unwavering, its form smooth and weighty, resembling crudely forged iron.
Yet, this plain-looking blade, born from the intense heat of a master smith's forge, had undergone countless tempering and honing processes. Every facet meticulously sculpted and polished, devoid of any ostentatious embellishments, it nevertheless radiated an unparalleled majesty and brilliance.
The singular ability of this Secret Sword was its sheer resilience. It possessed extreme toughness and an unyielding hardness; even the formidable Seeker of Glory could not possibly damage this blade.
Indestructibility was its gift, and this seemingly mundane, even unremarkable, ability held immense significance for Red Dog.
From the very inception of his swordsmanship journey, Red Dog had recognized his inherent challenge. His own physical strength was so immense that numerous blades would fracture after mere moments in his grasp, let alone after mastering Condensing Qi and Ethereal Amplification.
Invariably, Red Dog had to carry an arsenal of swords into each battle, often relying on blades seized from adversaries, until he was finally gifted this singular sword that refused to break, regardless of the force he wielded.
It was a true blessing.
Concentrating awesome power into the blade, Red Dog emitted a guttural roar. The Secret Sword arced horizontally, striking a Blade-Biting Wolf across its midsection and abdomen. The grating contact produced a piercing shriek before the wolf dissolved into dust and smoke.
"Come now, Lebius, cease your evasions!"
The sheer exhilaration of swinging his weapon sent a surge of heat through Red Dog's veins. He surged forward as more Blade-Biting Wolves converged, shaking his head in weary exasperation at these relentless nuisances.
"Get out of my path!"
This time, Red Dog gripped his sword with both hands. His subsequent slashes were a blur of motion, leaving overlapping afterimages that formed a perfect, sweeping arc.
The unleashed power descended like a thunderbolt upon the ground, accompanied by a deafening rush of wind. An endless, roaring torrent of Ether erupted from the sword's tip, coalescing into an unstoppable straight-line projectile, hurtling down towards its intended target.
In that precise moment, the very atmosphere felt as if it had turned to ice. With a sound like the air being torn asunder and incandescent sparks erupting, the opposing forces clashed, resembling a radiant moon grazing the earth as they collided with immense thunder. Despite the enhanced capabilities of the Defenders through their mastery of Alchemy Metal and Ether control, each and every one of the deadly Blade-Biting Wolves was obliterated by Red Dog’s devastating slash. Lebius’s heart grew cold. While he had never once harbored any underestimation towards Red Dog’s formidable strength, the overwhelming display he just witnessed still exceeded even his wildest imagination.
