Endless Debt Chapter 1018 - 94: Gathering of Evils
When Bologue saw Palmer again, it was already a few days later.
Bologue, exhausted, was nestled on the sofa. During this period, he trained in the combat room by day, practicing Ethereal Skill to enhance his affinity with Ether, and at night he sat in the living room, gazing out at the darkening sky, listening to the city’s noise.
In the loneliness and silence, Bologue felt an inexplicable sense of satisfaction. He recalled his conversation with Serey, who loved the Undying Club, even if it might have been created by a Devil; he was willing regardless.
In the long life of the Undead, the Undying Club was like a haven and sheltered him. Serey thought Bologue wouldn’t understand his perspective, but Bologue could... Oubos, the Order Bureau, the action team, this house, weren’t they also a place of refuge for Bologue?
"Ha..."
Bologue let out a long yawn, the training-induced fatigue bringing on a bit of drowsiness. After adjusting his position on the sofa, a cool sensation crept along Bologue’s wrist.
A silvery-white little snake slithered out from Bologue’s sleeve, its body twisting while its tiny scales opened and closed, its eyes sparkling with light, tongue flicking.
The Silver Snake was so vivid and lively that if not forewarned, many would mistake it for a real snake. In actuality, it was just a cold, lifeless thing shaped by Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid under Bologue’s precise control.
From the demeanor and movements of the Silver Snake, one could see the precision of Bologue’s current control over Ether. The Silver Snake, moving around, split into two, then four, the swarm of snakes wrapping around Bologue. Yet they quickly converged again, merging back into the single Silver Snake before disappearing back into Bologue’s sleeve.
Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid, an Alchemy Armament crafted by Aimou, accompanied Bologue in numerous battles due to its special properties. However, along with Bologue’s growth, the strength of Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid somewhat lagged behind.
Having reached the Negative Power Tier, Bologue had broken through many constraints. His command no longer required direct contact with matter and wasn’t limited to solid or liquid states, directly replacing the crucial property of solid-liquid conversion of the Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid.
In terms of offensiveness, while Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid could endlessly generate Red Mercury for terrifying explosive attacks, it was insufficient against High Tier enemies, not to mention that the sharpness of Envy Bite had already replaced it offensively.
When viewed as armor, Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid also seemed too fragile, as the Iron Armor it formed could hardly withstand attacks from peers or even High Tier enemies.
To Bologue now, Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid seemed more like a steel manufacturing device; as long as it was there, he could command steely constructs at any time to strike at enemies.
From an offensive weapon, it had turned into an auxiliary weapon. At the very least, with Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid around, Bologue never feared lacking materials to command.
As Bologue pondered how to further arm himself, sounds came from outside the door, followed by the metallic noise of a key being inserted and the door handle turning. Palmer pushed the door open and walked in.
In the dim light, they exchanged a glance. Even in the dimness, Bologue could make out Palmer’s sense of decadence and fatigue. He came over and sat on the other end of the sofa. Bologue could smell the shampoo; Palmer took the combat room as a gym, showering after an intense day of training before coming home.
In the silence, Bologue suddenly didn’t know what to say; it was always Palmer who livened up the atmosphere.
"Morrison."
Palmer suddenly spoke, mentioning a strange name, "Morrison Buze."
Bologue’s gaze sharpened, "Go on."
"He is at the Negative Power Tier, was once part of the King’s Secret Sword. During an operation, he defected to the King’s Shield Guard. As for his specific Secret Energy abilities, we’re still uncertain."
From the final image of the Eye of the Chronicler, the Crow’s Nest compared information stolen from the King’s Secret Sword one by one and ultimately reached this result.
"I remember this name now," said Bologue.
"When I left, Geoffrey said that the Order Bureau had already started to act. By midnight, the Great Rift would be completely sealed, and starting tomorrow, we’ll evacuate the residents around the Great Rift under the pretense of toxic waste leakage."
Palmer continued, "I guess the negotiation location will be set within the Great Rift after that."
All evil converging, chaos beginning.
Bologue whispered, "This place, doesn’t seem like it’s meant for a proper negotiation by any means."
"I don’t know what the Decision Room is thinking; maybe I’m just too dumb to see the bigger picture," Palmer said.
Bologue glanced at Palmer. He claimed he was dumb, but his eyes lacked any sense of foolishness, instead filled with killing intent. Palmer was like a hungry shark, now finally catching the scent of the enemy’s blood.
"What do you intend to do next?" Bologue asked.
"We’ll see how it goes. If I encounter that Morrison, I’ll find a way to kill him. If not, there’s plenty of time afterward to hunt him down."
"But he’s a Negative Power User."
The gap in Tier was evident, not something Palmer’s fierce words could simply bridge.
