Dual Cultivator with a cultivation system Chapter 600: Ch-600
Previously on Dual Cultivator with a cultivation system...
While traversing the broad avenues laid with azure stones, bustling storefronts and a swelling crowd snapping up all sorts of cultivation goods welcomed them.
Nearly half an hour elapsed during their trek across the city until they reached the Immortal Sword Sect's grounds.
A towering, dignified gateway caught their eye first—a splendid golden portal engraved with arrays.
Wang Ming observed the fresh applicants queued before the gate as an elder gazed down upon the assessment.
"Welcome to the yearly Immortal Sword Sect entry exam. Prior to beginning, any non-sword cultivators or those unable to endure this force should depart the vicinity. We accept only sword cultivators boasting solid foundations. Should this mild pressure overwhelm you, this isn't your spot," the elder announced, scanning the group before unleashing a trace of his sword intent. Several countenances blanched, prompting them to exit.
"Excellent, now the yearly examina—" He halted abruptly, squinting at Tian Chenyu and Mu Bingxue approaching them.
"You're here for the exam, yet tardy. Return next year," the elder overseeing declared, assuming they sought admission, as the onlookers began to jeer.
"Tsk, rotten timing. Merely seconds behind."
"Indeed, the elder seems overly strict."
"Strict? I've lingered at this gate for two full days. They're hardly committed."
"Damn, check out that beauty—she's scorching."
Tian Chenyu disregarded the elder entirely, as did Mu Bingxue; they pressed on without a glance, fueling his rising fury.
"Oi, you pair of fools, halt! Deaf to my words? I'll drag you away myself," the elder bellowed.
Abruptly, an oppressive force bore down on his lineage, sending his spirit quaking. It resembled a deity condescending upon an ant.
'Curses... this aura... an Eternal. Why omit that you're Eternals?' the elder lamented inwardly, bereft of tears.
"What was that, worm?" Mu Bingxue uttered with supreme contempt. To Eternals, lesser beings equated mere chattel.
"Pardon my blindness," the elder swiftly prostrated before them.
"Ease up on him," Tian Chenyu advised, massaging his foreheads while donning Core Disciple attire. Mu Bingxue mirrored the action, trailing him.
'Heavens... a Core Disciple. Yet unfamiliar? Hold on—rumors spoke of a fresh arrival?' Cold sweat drenched the elder; he dabbed it off, grateful for this mild one's mercy. Had it been those depraved Eternals fond of enslaving and tormenting folk for sport, doom awaited. The mocking spectators likewise praised the skies for dodging disaster.
Entering the sect, Tian Chenyu spotted clusters of purple-robed disciples strolling and conversing. Spiritual energy density struck him first—over a thousandfold richer than Yang Ying Sect's in the true realm.
Continuing onward, curious stares from many followed them.
He scanned about and halted an outer sect disciple, who froze in dread of slighting a Core Disciple, bowing ashen-faced. "I-I beg forgiveness, Senior Eternal."
"Why grovel?" Tian Chenyu queried, puzzled.
"I haven't a clue," the disciple replied, on the verge of sobs, utterly petrified.
"Is he doomed?"
"Crap, how'd he irk an Eternal?"
"Shared breath? Eye contact? Eternals offend over odd whims."
Catching the murmurs, Tian Chenyu's mouth quirked; he kneaded his brows. 'Blast, Eternals outdo even young masters in notoriety.'
"Our kind's rep is abysmal, huh?" Tian Chenyu remarked, and Mu Bingxue's lips twitched too.
"True, certain Eternals overstep with arrogance, tainting us all. I know some haughty Tian Family sorts personally," Mu Bingxue noted with a shrug. Blame lay with upbringing—Eternals deemed supreme, humans beneath, breeding divine delusions aplenty.
"Relax, I merely seek the sect leader's whereabouts," Tian Chenyu clarified.
"Wait, no torment?" The disciple gaped at Tian Chenyu in astonishment, beholding an alien being for the first time.
Mu Bingxue snapped, “Hey, just answer. I’m getting very annoyed. If you keep talking nonsense, I might just kill you.”
Terrified, the disciple hurriedly pointed toward the massive sword-shaped gate that ascended the mountain and stammered, “Yes, yes, you can find the sect leader over there.”
“I see. You can leave.” With that, the disciple fled in panic.
Next, Tian Chenyu and Mu Bingxue moved through the inner court region, where the crowd remained far more composed this time. Several among them even identified the pair as Eternals.
“Hey, look, that looks like the new Core Disciple we heard about.”
“Hmm, I heard he is a member of the Tian Family.”
“Oh, another Eternal.”
“Sigh, I wish I was born an Eternal. They get directly promoted to Core Disciples, while we have to go through tests and complete numerous missions.”
Tian Chenyu and Mu Bingxue brushed off the murmurs around them. The instant they approached the sword-shaped gate, a tingling prick assaulted their skin.
