Dual Cultivation Chapter 1144: Arriving at the Eternal Yin Yang Cave
Previously on Dual Cultivation...
"I am merely an ordinary disciple of the Boundless Yin Yang Sect," Su Yang answered with steady calm.
"Bullshit! There’s no way a disciple from a place like this could wield Sword Will!" Wang Haoran couldn't bring himself to admit that his own Sword Will fell short compared to a dual cultivator's. Should word of this embarrassment reach his fellow disciples, he'd end up as the sect's perpetual source of ridicule for years to come.
"No way?" Su Yang let out a sigh while shaking his head. "But you witnessed it firsthand just moments ago."
"T-That’s not what I meant! I’m sure you’re no true disciple here! You have to be a guest elder like me, faking your status!"
"Should you question my status, feel free to inquire with others around. In any case, since I've shown my worth, I'll be on my way now. We've lingered far too long on our tasks just to deal with you."
Su Yang sheathed his sword and pivoted, soaring off into the distance, with Lin Xinyi trailing quietly behind him.
"Hold on! This isn't over—"
"Actually, it is over." Su Yang whipped around abruptly, fixing Wang Haoran with a fierce stare as a menacing spark flashed in his gaze.
The instant Wang Haoran felt Su Yang's murderous aura, he went rigid. His gut warned him that one more word or twitch could mean instant death at Su Yang's hands.
Su Yang resumed his departure—yet halted once more.
Noticing this, Wang Haoran instinctively shut his eyes, bracing for the end.
"Oh, right," Su Yang voiced aloud. "Should the opportunity arise, pass this on to Jiang Wushuang: prepare his neck for the payback that's coming."
Jiang... Wushuang? Wang Haoran failed to grasp why Su Yang would name the Limitless Sword Sect’s Sect Leader, let alone issue a threat against him. Still, such details held no importance now.
"Did you catch my words?" Su Yang inquired, a subtle crease forming on his brow.
Too terrified to respond, Wang Haoran managed only frantic nods.
After Su Yang vanished entirely and his aura faded from detection, Wang Haoran exhaled heavily and drew in multiple deep gulps of air.
"That killing intent... it felt utterly genuine," he murmured. "Does he hold some deep grudge against the Limitless Sword Sect?"
Frustration warped his features.
"And he expects me to deliver a warning to the Sect Leader? Even for a Core Disciple like me, getting an audience isn't straightforward! Damn it all... I won't return to this sect ever again!"
Firm in his decision, Wang Haoran spun about and bolted away in the direction opposite to Su Yang's path, swiftly abandoning the Boundless Yin Yang Sect.
In the meantime, Lin Xinyi gazed at Su Yang's retreating figure, her expression filled with admiration.
He truly bested a Core Disciple from the Limitless Sword Sect... and with such ease.
Unable to perceive Sword Will, she hadn't observed the full clash. Yet, even without witnessing it directly, she knew Su Yang had dominated his foe completely.
Why would a sword prodigy like him end up in the Boundless Yin Yang Sect? she pondered silently.
A while afterward, they reached the intended spot.
As expected, their presence instantly captured the notice of all those assembled.
Upon arrival, close to a dozen figures had already assembled. Lin Xinyi knew none of them, yet their attire revealed it all.
Sect Elders.
"What brings you two here? Regular disciples aren't permitted in this area of the sect, especially not this specific location!" One Sect Elder stepped forward and demanded.
"I go by Disciple Xiao Yang, and this is my companion, Disciple Lin Xinyi. We've come to try the Eternal Yin Yang Caves."
A profound hush descended over the site as all the Sect Elders fixed their eyes on Su Yang, their expressions locked in stunned silence.
"Disciple Xiao Yang? Ah, yes, you're the standout from the Dual Cultivation Exchange."
His attendance made sense to them, but an Outer Court disciple such as Lin Xinyi joining the Eternal Yin Yang Caves? That honor was meant solely for the sect's renowned Sect Elders and its top three disciples.
Not even as a prank would it seem amusing.
The Sect Elder facing them quivered a bit before addressing Lin Xinyi, "I'll act like I never spotted you, so leave now before I—"
"Enough." A serene voice cut in without warning.
In the following instant, an elegant female Sect Elder landed in front of them and declared, "The Sect Leader has granted permission for their involvement in this year's Eternal Yin Yang Cave."
"Elder Chu! You can't mean that!"
"Impossible! How could the Sect Leader permit this? Xiao Yang's entry I get, but this Outer Court Disciple? For what reason?!"
"I lack the full story, but you can question the Sect Leader yourself once she shows up."
Having redirected their queries to the Sect Leader, the Sect Elders quieted once more.
Minutes passed before yet another figure touched down on the summit.
"Y-You! What in the world are you doing in this spot?!"
Su Yang glanced toward the arrival.
A recognized countenance.
"Hello, Vice Sect Leader." Su Yang offered a relaxed salutation to Chen Yi. "Why question my presence? After all, I'm solely responsible for our victory in the Dual Cultivation Exchange over the Mystic Delight Pavilion."
"Well..." Chen Yi started, soon acknowledging Su Yang's point and his own rash words.
His attention then drifted to Lin Xinyi, positioned behind Su Yang like a shy creature seeking to avoid notice.
"An Outer Court disciple? Who might you be, and why are you here?" Chen Yi swiftly shifted his focus.
"She's my chosen partner for the Eternal Yin Yang Cave," Su Yang clarified. "I've secured the Sect Leader’s approval already, so aim any objections at her instead."
Chen Yi shook with fury over Su Yang's blatant disregard. Yet before he could retort, a new voice echoed forth.
"Who dares to have complaints directed at me?"
Sect Leader Qing materialized in their midst the very next instant.
