Dragon Monarch System Chapter 992 992:- Pocket Dimension; Goblin Society
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
Athena gazed at the Goblins encircling them on every side. Among them were several fifth-order ones.
"For the moment, I'll step aside. They're all yours." She was well aware of his immense strength. There was no reason for her to intervene.
Instead, she retrieved a chair from her storage ring and settled in to observe the spectacle.
"This is quite fascinating!" Ever since he had slain millions of Goblins during the Goblin Invasion, he hadn't encountered any since.
Goblins stood as the most feeble among all Magic Animals. Their sole edge over other magical species lay in their alarmingly rapid reproduction rate. In just one year, a group of 10 Goblins could multiply to between 80 and 100.
This explained why eradicating Goblins entirely proved impossible. Moreover, these diminutive green magical creatures expertly exploited the forest's landscape to construct hidden lairs that were nearly undetectable.
These verdant Magic Animals could establish a complete underground society. They excelled as diggers. In a single year, a modest goblin settlement might swell to thousands of individuals.
Occasionally, Goblins emerged with unique talents in specific fields. Such variants bore different designations.
There existed Mage-Goblins, renowned for their exceptional aptitude in acquiring spells and manipulating mana. Relative to ordinary Goblins, their intellect was marginally superior, enabling comprehension of fundamental magic circles and basic spell arrays.
There were Hob-Goblins, distinguished by their robust physiques and superior physical prowess compared to standard Goblins. Hob-Goblins typically developed taller, more brawny builds, and served as vanguard warriors or leaders in goblin bands.
There were Goblin Knights, celebrated for their keen battle senses and adherence to order. In contrast to fellow Goblins who depended heavily on overwhelming numbers, Goblin Knights could master weapon skills and engage in coordinated battle lines.
There were Priest Goblins, who often assumed leadership over small or medium communities. These Goblins possessed an odd affinity with spiritual energy, allowing them to perform basic blessings or restorative powers.
There were Shaman Goblins as well, famed for their interactions with spirits and command over rudimentary ritual magics. These Goblins frequently directed their tribes through critical occasions like conflicts, relocations, or significant hunts.
There were Goblin Engineers, an uncommon breed displaying remarkable cleverness and inventiveness. Such Goblins could fabricate basic armaments, snares, and elemental contraptions from timber, skeletal remains, and discarded metals.
There were Goblin Scouts, noted for their swiftness, acute perceptions, and stealthy navigation through woodlands or caverns. These Goblins were commonly dispatched in advance of their tribe to collect intel or pursue foes.
Finally, there emerged the Goblin King. This figure was exceedingly scarce within the species. Yet upon its birth, all Goblins yielded to the Goblin King, irrespective of its might or authority. The Goblin King was destined to govern and dominate.
"Within this Pocket Dimension, given their vast numbers, I suspect no other species can challenge the Goblins." This implied the entire Pocket Dimension brimmed with innumerable Goblins.
The puzzle remained: how had Goblins entered this Pocket Dimension? It seemed improbable they had inhabited it from the outset. Still, that didn't rule out the possibility.
However, Aditya preferred the notion that, as the entry orb originated from a key figure in the Organisation, these individuals had introduced Goblins into this Pocket Dimension for a particular objective.
"Athena, what's your view?" Aditya inquired as he awaited the Goblins' approach.
"I concur with your reasoning."
"Considering the immense quantity of Goblins my senses detect across their full extent, sustaining such a massive population through mere hunting is utterly unfeasible. To nourish so vast a populace, this Pocket Dimension lacks sufficient provisions."
Goblins were omnivorous by nature. Yet their primary craving was always for flesh.
"Thus, it's evident that someone deliberately maintains these Goblins here." Aditya inclined his head in agreement.
"We'll uncover the truth upon reaching that grand Castle." Aditya tilted his head aside to evade several oncoming arrows infused with Mana. The arrows streaked at tremendous velocity, yet to Aditya, their pace felt unremarkable.
Swoosh!!!!
The arrows whizzed by Athena and embedded into nearby trees, triggering blasts.
The Dragon Monarch inhaled deeply, then expelled a massive surge of Crimson Flame from his jaws.
As the blaze advanced toward the Goblins, the Crimson flame wave expanded steadily in both height and breadth.
KHAAA....!!!!
Save for a handful of Goblin Knights who astutely employed fellow Goblins as barriers to withdraw, tens of thousands of Goblins perished in that solitary assault. The flames swiftly charred their forms to cinders, reducing them to dust.
The Crimson Flame pressed onward unabated. The inferno swiftly propagated toward the woodland beyond.
In under 10 seconds, the Goblin forces arrayed in one sector were utterly eradicated. And the adjacent forest ignited.
Whistle!!!!
Athena let out a whistle upon beholding the display.
"Crimson Flames remain perilously potent." In her youth, she had clashed with a renegade cultivator who wielded Crimson Flames. Though their cultivation levels matched, the flames granted the rogue cultivator dominance.
She had triumphed, but sustained severe third-degree burns across portions of her frame.
Meanwhile, the Goblin horde lunged at Athena from the rear. Yet they overlooked the abrupt dimming of the bright sky at an alarming rate.
Before any Goblin could breach a 3-meter perimeter around Athena, ferocious Crimson Lightning bolts smote them.
Even the fifth-order Goblins crumbled to ashes from a lone strike by the Crimson Lightning.
Simultaneously, aside from the modest mountaintop where Aditya and Athena stood, acid rain commenced cascading over the surrounding terrain.
The forest resounded with the agonized shrieks of Goblins. The creatures discarded their arms and fled haphazardly, howling in torment. But wherever they sought refuge, the acid rain pursued relentlessly.
In mere minutes, nearly one hundred thousand Goblins met their end. Annihilated so thoroughly that no remnants persisted.
Not even the fifth-order Goblins escaped this fate.
"Let's proceed to that vast Castle." Aditya held no qualms about slaying Goblins. Indeed, there was a period when he avidly culled them for experience points. But the feebler the Goblin, the scant the experience yielded. And as he ascended to loftier Cultivation stages, the required experience points escalated dramatically.
Only the gains from dispatching fifth-order Goblins held true value for him now. Besides, he wasn't short on experience points.
Aditya materialized beside Athena and clasped her arm. Recognizing the imminent action, she braced herself.
The following instant, the pair vanished.
Aditya executed successive Instant teleportations without pause. Through multiple leaps, he conveyed them to the Castle's foundation in just 10 seconds.
Upon arriving at the Castle's gateway, they decelerated.
"I sense no presence inside the Castle." The vicinity encircling the Castle comprised desolate, infertile ground. No hint of vegetation appeared within roughly a 5 km (3.1 miles) radius of the edifice.
"It appears the Goblins, for whatever cause, avoid nearing this Castle or its encircling wasteland." Furthermore, the Castle seemed dilapidated and archaic. Evidently, it had long been neglected.
The slender iron gates bore corrosion. The portal doors appeared on the verge of collapse.
"Let's enter." Aditya nudged the entrance door. Yet with the mildest pressure, the panels started to topple.
Observing this, he casually snapped his fingers, propelling the doors outward across the barren expanse.
A few minutes onward, the duo arrived at the passageway directing toward the Throne Hall.
Yet as they advanced, something intriguing caught their eye. Adorning the walls stretched an extended mural, seemingly narrating a tale from antiquity.
The murals lacked hues, yet they could discern the intended message.
"This tale is quite perplexing."
"The mural commences at the Throne Hall's entry." The segment they examined marked the conclusion. Per the depiction, the figure who had subdued all elected to encase himself within a cocoon.
"Let's enter the Throne Hall first. We can examine the mural's narrative afterward." Athena assented and trailed him.
However, the Throne Hall lay vacant. No soul occupied it.
"I suspect this Pocket Dimension once served as an outpost for the Organization. But it's been ages since anyone's visited."
"That's incorrect!" Heeding her statement, he traced her stare downward, discovering recent footprints on the dust-laden floor.
"Someone visited here recently."
