Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1295:- Truth About Abyssal Heart Devouring Art

"My love, before I head to the battlefield, there is something that I wish to discuss with you." Ren spoke in a surprisingly gentle voice while looking at the woman standing before him.
However, despite how calmly he spoke, his words did nothing to ease her fear. Instead, she felt increasingly terrified as she continued looking into his eyes. Her entire body was trembling, and no matter how hard she tried to calm herself down, she simply could not stop shaking.
She had been with Ren for many years now. Among everyone in the Celestial Dragon Empire, there was probably no one who understood his personality better than she did. She knew his habits, his ambitions, his likes and dislikes, and even the things that he rarely discussed with others.
Despite knowing him better than almost anyone else in this world, she was now struggling to recognise the man standing before her.
The Ren of the past and the Ren standing before her might have possessed the same face, voice, and appearance, but they felt like two completely different people. The familiar warmth that she had always felt whenever she looked into his eyes was nowhere to be found. Instead, there was something extremely dark and frightening about him, something that made her feel as though she was standing before a complete stranger.
When Ren noticed her trembling, he slowly took a step toward her. However, the moment he moved, she instinctively stepped backwards. "No! Don’t come any closer!" She almost shouted while raising one of her hands in front of her.
Her voice was shaking, and there was a clear expression of fear on her face. Even she could not believe that she was reacting this way toward the man whom she had loved for so many years.
However, Ren did not appear surprised by her reaction. In fact, he seemed to have expected something like this. Instead of approaching her any further, he simply stopped walking and gestured toward a chair that was located a few meters behind her.
"Please, sit down. There is something important that I need to explain to you." His voice remained calm, almost as though he had not noticed how frightened she was.
For a few seconds, she remained standing in the same position, unsure of what to do. Her instincts were warning her to leave this place immediately, but her heart refused to abandon Ren. After all, regardless of how frightening he had become, he was still the man whom she loved more than anyone else in this world.
Furthermore, she could never forget everything he had done for her. Before meeting Ren, she had been nothing more than a courtesan working in one of the pleasure houses of the Imperial Capital. Although she had been considered beautiful and talented, her position in society had been extremely low. Her life had revolved around entertaining wealthy guests, and she had possessed very little control over her own future.
However, everything had changed after she met Ren. He had taken an interest in her, paid the enormous amount of money required to buy out her contract, and brought her out of that place.
Instead of treating her as someone beneath him because of her past, he had given her a completely new life. Eventually, after becoming the Emperor of the Celestial Dragon Empire, he had even made her his Empress.
For a woman who had once believed that she would spend her entire life entertaining wealthy guests, becoming the Empress of one of the most powerful Empires on the Main Continent was something she could never have imagined. More importantly, Ren had given her love, respect, and a place where she genuinely felt that she belonged.
Because of this, she could not simply forget everything he had done for her just because he had suddenly changed. Even though she was terrified of the sinister aura surrounding him, she still wanted to believe that the man she loved was somewhere inside that frightening exterior.
Trusting her feelings for him, she slowly gathered her courage and walked toward the chair. After sitting down, she placed both hands on her lap and tried to control her trembling. Although she was still afraid, she forced herself to look at Ren, hoping that he would finally explain what was happening.
Seeing that she had followed his instructions, Ren gave a small nod before speaking. "My love, what I’m about to tell you is extremely important. This is the only way we can win this war. Or, at the very least, even if I cannot win, this method will make sure that Aditya cannot become the Emperor either."
Hearing those words, her expression immediately changed. Although Ren had not directly explained what he was planning, she was intelligent enough to understand the meaning behind his words.
From the very beginning, he had not been thinking only about defeating Aditya. He had already prepared himself for the possibility of losing the war, and if that happened, he intended to make sure that Aditya died alongside him.
"Ren, you can’t!" She almost shouted in desperation. For a brief moment, she completely forgot about the frightening aura surrounding him. The thought of losing the man she loved was far more terrifying than anything else.
"Please, don’t do this! We don’t have to continue fighting! We can still leave this place!"
Seeing that Ren was silently listening to her, she hurriedly continued, "We have a teleportation array inside our camp. We can use it to escape before the battle begins. By the time anyone realises that we have disappeared, we will already be far away from here. We can travel to another continent, change our appearances, and hide somewhere nobody knows us!"
The more she spoke, the more desperate she became. "We don’t need to live as Emperor and Empress anymore! We can find a quiet place and live an ordinary life. We can build a small house, spend our days together, and finally start a family of our own."
"We can have children and raise them somewhere peaceful, far away from all these wars and political struggles. Isn’t that better than throwing away our lives for a throne?"
By the time she finished speaking, her eyes had already become slightly red. She reached out toward Ren, hoping that her words would make him reconsider whatever terrible decision he had made. "Please, Ren. I’m begging you. Don’t throw away everything we still have just because you want revenge against Aditya. We can still have a future together. Even if you lose the throne, you won’t lose me. I will stay beside you no matter where we go."
However, instead of being moved by her words, Ren simply looked at her with a faint smirk. In fact, he almost found her suggestion amusing. For a moment, he wondered whether the woman who had spent so many years beside him had ever truly understood him.
Did she seriously expect him to abandon the throne and run away like a coward? After everything he had done to obtain it, after all the sacrifices he had made and the blood he had spilled, how could he simply turn his back on everything and live an ordinary life?
To Ren, the throne was far more than a position of authority. It was the very thing that he had dedicated most of his life to obtaining. He had betrayed his own family, destroyed countless relationships, and committed terrible acts because he wanted to become the Emperor. And now, when he was so close to losing everything, the woman he loved was asking him to abandon it willingly.
However, Ren failed to understand her perspective. She was not asking him to run away because she did not understand how much the throne meant to him. She was asking him to leave because she understood that his obsession with the throne was about to cost him his life.
Unlike Ren, she did not care whether they continued living inside the Imperial Royal Palace or spent the rest of their lives in some remote village. As long as she could remain beside the man she loved, she believed that she could still find happiness.
To her, Ren’s life was far more valuable than the throne, the Empire, or any amount of power.
Unfortunately, Ren could not see things that way. His obsession had already grown so strong that he could no longer imagine a future where he remained alive but was no longer the Emperor. Instead of considering her suggestion, he simply decided to continue explaining his plan.
"Long ago, when I first joined that organisation, I learned something extremely interesting about its leader." Ren spoke calmly while looking at her.
"Leo is not an ordinary cultivator. That bastard has been alive for millions of years. He has witnessed the rise and fall of countless civilisations throughout his lifetime. Kingdoms, Empires, and even entire civilisations have appeared and disappeared before his eyes."
"Because he has lived for such an incredibly long time, Leo possesses knowledge that most people in this era cannot even imagine."
"Inside his storage ring, he has countless ancient records, forgotten cultivation methods, and techniques that mankind lost millions of years ago. Some of those techniques belonged to civilisations that no longer exist in this world."
Hearing this, she became slightly confused. She did not understand why Ren was suddenly telling her about Leo’s age and the ancient techniques he possessed.
However, considering the strange aura surrounding Ren and the corpses gathered inside the tent, she had a terrible feeling that these things were somehow connected.
"Among those forgotten techniques, there was one particular cultivation technique that caught my attention."
Ren continued while glancing toward the corpses. "It was a forbidden technique from one of the lost eras, a dark art known as the Abyssal Heart Devouring Art. According to the ancient records, this technique was so dangerous that even the cultivators of that era feared it."
