Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1237:- Goddess of War vs Black Dragon [II]
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
Freya continued exchanging blows with Kaito, but this time, there was a slight change in the way she was fighting. Instead of simply trying to overpower him with her speed and strength, she began using the weaknesses that she had noticed during their previous exchanges. Every movement she made had a purpose, and every attack was aimed at forcing Kaito into a position where he would have difficulty defending himself.
Kaito, however, did not notice anything unusual at first. He was still enjoying their battle, and the excited smile on his face had not disappeared. In fact, the longer they fought, the more excited he became, since it had been a long time since he had encountered someone who could exchange so many blows with him without being overwhelmed by his strength.
Freya suddenly swung her right katana toward Kaito’s left shoulder. As she had expected, Kaito immediately raised his left claw to block the incoming blade. However, instead of putting her full strength behind the attack, Freya deliberately reduced its power at the last moment, allowing Kaito to push her katana aside much more easily than before.
Seeing this opportunity, Kaito immediately launched a powerful counterattack with his left claw, aiming directly at Freya’s upper body. He was confident that the sudden attack would force her to retreat, but what he did not realize was that Freya had been waiting for this exact movement.
Just as his claw was about to reach her, Freya suddenly twisted her body to the right, allowing the attack to pass beside her. Because Kaito had committed too much strength to his strike, his left arm extended farther than it should have, leaving his left side completely exposed for a brief moment.
Freya immediately took advantage of the opening.
Her left katana flashed through the air and struck Kaito directly below his left ribs. The Katana cut through his clothes and the protective mana surrounding his body before leaving a deep wound across his side.
Kaito cried out as a sharp pain spread through his body.
Blood immediately began flowing from the wound, staining his clothes as he instinctively pulled his left arm back and moved away from Freya. Although his powerful Black Dragon body prevented the attack from causing more serious damage, the wound was still deep enough to make him realise that her katanas were capable of cutting through his natural defences.
Kaito quickly glanced at the injury before looking back at Freya. The smile that had been on his face a moment earlier had faded slightly, replaced by a more serious expression.
Until now, he had managed to block almost every attack with his hardened claws, so he had not expected Freya to suddenly find an opening in his defense.
However, Freya had no intention of giving him enough time to recover. The moment Kaito moved backward, she immediately followed him, closing the distance between them before he could properly adjust his fighting stance. This time, she launched several quick attacks toward his upper body, forcing him to raise both claws to defend himself.
Kaito blocked the first few attacks successfully, but Freya was deliberately aiming most of her strikes toward his left side. As she had noticed earlier, whenever his dominant claw was pushed out of position, he had a habit of bringing his right claw across his body to protect the opening.
After exchanging several more blows, Freya suddenly swung her right katana toward his left shoulder with enough force to push his left claw outward. Kaito immediately reacted by moving his right claw across his chest, preparing to block the follow-up attack that he expected would come from the same direction.
However, Freya had already predicted his reaction. Instead of attacking his left side again, she suddenly changed the direction of her second katana and aimed for the right side of his abdomen, which had become exposed when Kaito moved his right claw across his body.
By the time Kaito realised what she was doing, it was already too late.
Freya’s katana cut deeply across the right side of his abdomen, leaving another long wound that immediately began bleeding. The force behind the attack was strong enough to make Kaito’s body twist slightly, and he instinctively moved backwards while pressing his right claw against the injured area.
"Dammit!" Kaito cursed as he looked down at the second wound.
In less than a minute, Freya had managed to injure him twice, and both attacks had struck areas that his hardened claws had failed to protect. What frustrated him even more was that he had not been able to land a single successful attack on her during that time.
For the first time since their battle began, Kaito started to feel that something was wrong. Freya’s attacks were no longer coming from random directions, and every time he attempted to counterattack, she seemed to know exactly how he would respond.
However, rather than calming himself and changing his approach, Kaito became increasingly frustrated. As the future Duke of the Black Dragon Clan, he had always taken great pride in his strength, and being injured twice in such a short period was something he found difficult to accept.
With an angry expression, Kaito suddenly rushed toward Freya. Kaito gathered an enormous amount of strength into his left claw. His intention was to overpower her with a single powerful strike, believing that even if she managed to block it, the force behind his attack would be enough to send her flying backward.
Freya immediately noticed the change in his posture. His left shoulder moved slightly forward, and his body leaned toward the same side as he prepared to release his attack. These were the exact movements she had already observed during their earlier exchanges.
Freya thought as she tightened her grip on both katanas. Kaito closed the distance between them and swung his left claw with tremendous force, aiming directly at Freya’s chest.
The force behind his attack was so great that the surrounding air was pushed aside, producing a powerful gust of wind. However, instead of attempting to block the attack, Freya suddenly lowered her body and moved to his right, allowing the enormous dragon claw to pass above her shoulder.
Kaito immediately realised that he had missed, but because he had put so much strength into the attack, he could not stop his left arm in time. His upper body continued moving forward, and for a brief moment, his balance was completely disturbed.
Freya did not waste this opportunity. While moving past his extended left arm, she quickly turned her body and brought both katanas into position.
Rather than attacking him with an ordinary slash, she concentrated a large amount of mana into her blades, causing them to release a powerful glow as she prepared to strike.
Kaito attempted to turn around and raise his right claw to defend himself, but Freya was already moving. She swung both katanas together, striking him across the upper body with tremendous force.
The moment her attack connected, a powerful shockwave exploded outward, and Kaito was sent flying backwards like a cannonball.
The force behind Freya’s strike was so enormous that Kaito completely lost control of his body. He flew through the air at an astonishing speed, unable to stop himself or change direction despite desperately trying to regain his balance.
Within seconds, he had already crossed a considerable distance and was rapidly descending toward the battlefield below.
Unfortunately, the area directly beneath him was filled with soldiers from both factions who were engaged in fierce combat. Hundreds of cultivators were fighting across that section of the battlefield.
Some soldiers were exchanging sword strikes, while others were attempting to defend themselves against spears and magical attacks. The sounds of clashing weapons and exploding spells were so loud that almost nobody noticed the rapidly approaching figure falling from the sky.
By the time a few soldiers finally looked upward and realised what was happening, there was no longer enough time to escape.
Kaito crashed directly into the middle of the battlefield with tremendous force. The ground beneath him immediately cracked and collapsed, forming an enormous crater as a powerful shockwave spread outward in every direction.
Dust, dirt, broken weapons, and pieces of shattered armor were thrown high into the air, while the soldiers standing closest to the impact point were violently thrown away.
Several unfortunate cultivators who had been fighting directly where Kaito landed were crushed beneath the force of his impact. Others were sent flying dozens of meters away as the shockwave struck them before they could activate their defensive abilities.
Even the soldiers standing farther from the centre of the impact suffered serious injuries. The tremendous force travelling through the ground knocked them off their feet, causing many to crash into nearby soldiers or strike the ground with enough force to break their bones.
Some suffered fractured arms and legs, while others had multiple ribs broken from the sudden impact. A few soldiers who had been standing particularly close to the crater suffered fractures in several parts of their bodies, leaving them unable to stand or continue fighting.
The shockwave also destroyed several nearby defensive formations, while the enormous cloud of dust rising from the crater temporarily blocked the surrounding soldiers’ vision. Within a matter of seconds, an entire section of the battlefield had been thrown into chaos, and dozens of soldiers from both factions were lying injured across the shattered ground.
At the centre of the enormous crater was Kaito Black, the heir of the Black Dragon Clan, who had been sent crashing into the battlefield by Freya’s powerful attack.
