Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1208:- On the Way to the Palace
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
Roy eventually decided to change the topic of their conversation. Regardless of whether the claims about mind control were true or not, one thing had already become painfully obvious to him after observing everything that had happened within the Celestial Dragon Empire.
And that was Ren was a terrible ruler.
Meanwhile, Aditya had already proven himself to be far more eligible and capable of ruling an Empire than his cousin. In Roy’s eyes, saying that Aditya was merely more capable would actually be an understatement.
From everything he had heard, Aditya had demonstrated ten times the qualities that Ren had shown as an Emperor. The achievements of the Istarin Empire were the perfect example.
"Aditya, tell me a little about your other Empire." Roy asked with genuine curiosity. "The one you established on the Dying Isle Continent."
A small smile appeared on his face. "I have heard some rather unbelievable things from people who recently returned from the Six Continents. Apparently, within just two and a half years, you managed to expand the Istarin Empire across multiple continents and turn it into the largest and most powerful Empire within the Six Continents."
Aditya smiled after hearing this. "Uncle, You already seem to know everything." Aditya replied in a playful tone.
"So why bother asking me?" Roy chuckled and slowly nodded his head.
For a few seconds, the former Prime Minister simply looked at the young man sitting before him. The little Crown Prince he remembered had truly grown up.
"You have become a very capable and fine young man, Aditya." Roy said with a warm smile.
"I am sure your parents will be very happy when they finally get to see the man you have become." Hearing this, Aditya smiled a little and said nothing in response. His parents were indeed extremely proud of him. But more than that, their hearts were filled with grief and guilt for the things that they did to Aditya.
Hearing Roy mention his parents, Aditya almost told him that he had already met Alen and Elena with Rin’s help inside the spiritual world. However, the words never left his mouth. Aditya decided to keep that information to himself for now.
Although he respected Roy greatly, he still did not trust the former Prime Minister enough to reveal all of his secrets. Roy was certainly not his enemy, but at the same time, he was not exactly Aditya’s friend or ally either. The old man had agreed to help him with this particular mission, and Aditya was grateful for that, but this did not mean he should suddenly reveal everything to him.
Some secrets were simply better kept among those closest to him.
"So, Aditya..." Roy continued after a short pause.
"I’m sure you must have some kind of strategy for winning this war." Aditya merely smiled. He did not answer the question. There was no need to answer such a question.
The truth was that there was no shortcut to winning this war. There was no brilliant strategy that would magically allow the Anti-Emperor Faction to defeat Ren’s forces without paying a heavy price.
Once the two armies finally clashed, it would become a cold and brutal war. There would be blood and deaths. And there would undoubtedly be countless casualties on both sides before one side finally emerged victorious.
Both Aditya and Ren understood this reality. In fact, they had understood and accepted it from the very beginning. No matter how carefully either side planned, a war of this scale could never end without sacrifice.
"Uncle, since you are so curious about everything, why don’t you become the Prime Minister again once I defeat my cousin in this war?" Aditya suddenly asked with a smile. Aditya was merely testing Roy to see if he had any interest in power or position within the Celestial Dragon Empire.
Though Aditya had a feeling that there was no need for this type of test. Because from what he remembered, Roy had always been extremely loyal and very hard-working. He was one of the most loyal subordinates of his father.
"Your experience and the knowledge you accumulated from serving as Prime Minister for so many centuries would greatly help me once I become the Emperor." Roy was clearly flattered by the offer. There was no denying that being personally invited by Aditya to return to his former position made the old man feel appreciated. However, after thinking about it for a few seconds, he shook his head with a small smile.
"Aditya, I feel like my time is over now." Roy calmly replied.
"I don’t think I have anything more to offer as the Prime Minister. More importantly, I strongly believe that the position should now belong to someone from your generation."
He paused briefly before continuing. "And I’m not saying this because I hold any hatred or resentment toward the Celestial Dragon Empire. Nor am I bitter because Ren removed me from my position almost immediately after becoming Emperor. I genuinely have no such feelings in my heart."
Roy leaned back against his seat and looked out of the carriage window. "I was removed from office, and surprisingly, life after stepping down as Prime Minister has been very good to me. Being able to spend so much time with my granddaughter made me realize just how much I had missed while dedicating myself to the Empire."
For countless years, politics had consumed almost every part of Roy’s life. There had always been another meeting, another political dispute, another noble faction demanding his attention, another crisis requiring his presence, or another matter involving the Imperial Family that needed to be handled.
"I’m actually enjoying the slow life I have now." Roy continued with a peaceful smile.
"Living with my granddaughter in the countryside, far away from the Celestial Dragon Empire and all its politics, has made me happier than I expected."
"That is the main reason I stayed away from this Empire after leaving office. I don’t want anything more to do with politics, geopolitics, factional struggles, or any of the complicated matters surrounding the Celestial Dragon Empire."
Roy then looked directly at Aditya. "I only returned because I genuinely wanted to help you. And regardless of whether I remain part of this Empire or continue living somewhere far away, I still sincerely hope and pray that the Celestial Dragon Empire has a bright future."
"What about becoming a special advisor, then?" Aditya immediately asked.
Roy opened his mouth to reject the offer, but before he could say anything, Aditya raised his hand, signalling him to hear the full proposal first.
"The role would be completely different from that of an ordinary advisor." Aditya explained.
"You wouldn’t need to come to work every day. In fact, unless there was an emergency, you might only need to visit a few times each month. Whenever you feel like coming to the Capital, you can come. Otherwise, you can continue living peacefully with your granddaughter."
Roy’s expression slowly changed. "And if there is a serious emergency, I would occasionally ask for your advice."
"And That’s all. You spent centuries dealing with this Empire’s politics. Letting all that experience disappear completely would be a waste. And I promise your salary will be just as good as what you used to earn when you were the Prime Minister." Roy could not deny that he was extremely flattered. He would be basically getting paid for almost doing nothing.
In fact, for a moment, he was genuinely tempted to accept the offer immediately. Unlike becoming Prime Minister again, this position would allow him to continue enjoying his peaceful retirement while still helping Aditya and the Celestial Dragon Empire whenever his experience was truly needed.
But after thinking about it, Roy merely smiled. "Let’s see." Roy replied.
"We can have this discussion again once you actually win this war." Aditya smiled and did not push him any further. Roy had not accepted his proposal. But more importantly, he had not rejected it either.
That alone told Aditya everything he needed to know. The former Prime Minister was interested. He simply did not want to make any promises before the civil war was settled and Aditya had actually secured the throne.
But Aditya saw that as a promising sign. Someone like Roy could turn out to be extremely valuable for Aditya. For his future plans, his input on matters could help him further refine his plans even better.
Not to mention, this man understood the internal and external politics and geopolitics of the entire Main Continent better than anyone. Aditya won’t need to look outside for advice when someone capable like him will always be available to give him advice.
’Heheh!! Some days he can come and help Spencer out as well.’ This was Aditya’s real intention. He will be the Prime Minister of two Empires, but having someone as capable as Roy by his side, his job will become easier.
