Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1155:- Emperor and His Lover
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
"Once the civil war is over, let’s try having children of our own." Ren gently stroked her hair as he spoke. More than anything else, he wanted a successor who could inherit everything he had built, continue his bloodline, and one day ascend the Imperial Throne after him.
Every Emperor eventually had to think about the future of the Empire, and for Ren, securing the next generation of the Imperial Family had already become one of his priorities.
Hearing those words, the woman known throughout the Empire as the Emperor’s Lover could not stop a genuine smile from appearing on her face. It was, without question, the happiest thing Ren had ever said to her.
Long before meeting Ren, she had been recognized as the undisputed Number One Courtesan of the Celestial Dragon Empire. Unlike ordinary courtesans, however, she had carefully preserved her virginity throughout all those years.
It was not out of innocence, but because exclusivity greatly increased her value and status. Countless nobles, princes, wealthy merchants, and influential figures had offered unimaginable fortunes simply to spend a single night with her, yet every one of them had been rejected.
In the end, the only man she willingly gave herself to was Ren.
Even so, she understood the reality of Imperial politics better than most.
No matter how deeply Ren loved her, her background as a courtesan would always remain a weakness in the eyes of the Imperial Court. Noble families, ministers, and the old aristocracy would never easily accept a former courtesan as the Empire’s Main Empress.
Even though Ren had repeatedly promised to make her his official wife and crown her as Empress after everything was settled, a part of her heart still carried lingering doubts. After all, promises made before securing the throne and promises fulfilled after sitting upon it were often two very different things.
However, everything would change if she bore Ren a son.
If that child were publicly acknowledged as the Crown Prince and officially designated as the future Emperor of the Celestial Dragon Empire, then her political position would become almost impossible to challenge. Regardless of how many nobles looked down upon her past or whispered about her origins, she would become the mother of the Empire’s future ruler.
That single title would outweigh every insult directed at her background. More importantly, it would eliminate the greatest uncertainty in her future.
Even if Ren later married daughters from powerful noble households or accepted additional wives and concubines for political reasons, none of them would be able to threaten her position so long as her son remained the officially recognized heir to the throne. The struggle for succession, which had destroyed countless Imperial families throughout history, would effectively be decided before it could even begin.
To her, that was worth more than the title of Empress itself.
But the mother of the officially recognized Crown Prince held a position that even the highest-ranking noble families had to treat with the utmost respect.
As those thoughts crossed her mind, the smile on her face became even brighter.
For the first time in many years, she felt that her future was no longer uncertain. If everything unfolded as Ren had promised, she would no longer be remembered as the Empire’s greatest courtesan.
She would become the mother of its next Emperor.
The only problem was the naturally low birth rate of Dragons.
She herself possessed a Half-Dragon bloodline, while Ren was a Pure Dragon who carried a high-ranking Dragon Bloodline. Throughout history, it had never been easy for Dragons to have children. The stronger and purer the bloodline became, the more difficult it generally was to produce offspring.
The Imperial Family itself was the perfect example.
The previous Emperor, Alen, and his Empress had spent centuries together before finally giving birth to Aditya. Even Boris, who had lived for more than twenty thousand years, had only fathered two sons during his entire lifetime.
Simply wanting a child was not enough.
Even if she wished to become pregnant immediately, there was no guarantee it would happen anytime soon. It could take decades, centuries, or even longer before fate blessed them with a child.
There were, of course, alchemical potions that claimed to improve the chances of pregnancy. Some were said to increase the probability by five percent, while the finest among them advertised improvements of up to ten percent.
However, she had never placed much faith in such claims.
Most of those potions had been developed and tested on humans or other common races. There was no reliable way to verify whether they produced the same results for Dragons, especially those with exceptionally pure bloodlines like Ren’s. Spending enormous fortunes on uncertain medicine was nothing more than gambling in her eyes.
As those thoughts crossed her mind, another possibility surfaced.
’The only option I have right now is to seek the Goddess of Lust... or the Goddess of Nature.’
During her years at the Courtesan House, she had occasionally heard whispers about such matters. It was said that women who received the blessing of either goddess could see their chances of conceiving increase, regardless of race. Unlike the exaggerated claims made by alchemists trying to sell expensive potions, these blessings were regarded as genuine divine miracles.
No one could guarantee how much they would help.
But if there truly was a way to improve her chances of bearing Ren’s child, then seeking the favor of one of those goddesses was far more trustworthy than relying on unproven alchemical concoctions. In her mind, it was the only option worth seriously considering.
’That being said, it is truly my worst luck that the two Goddesses whose help I need are both standing by Aditya’s side.’ Even the Goddess of Alchemy cannot be approached for that method.
She had already heard plenty of rumors regarding Aditya’s unusually close relationships with several Goddesses. Some of that information had come directly from Ren, while other details had reached her through the connections she had maintained from her years as the Number One Courtesan.
Back then, despite preserving her virginity to maintain her exclusivity, she had interacted with countless nobles and influential figures, which had taught her how quickly important information could travel through private circles.
Unfortunately, this particular information left her with almost no options.
Aditya and Ren were enemies fighting for the same Imperial Throne. The conflict between the two brothers had already reached the point where an open civil war could begin at any moment. Under such circumstances, there was almost no possibility that either the Goddess of Lust or the Goddess of Nature would willingly bless the woman carrying Ren’s future child.
Such a blessing would not merely be a personal favor.
If she successfully became pregnant and eventually gave birth to Ren’s heir, that child could become the future Crown Prince. From a political perspective, the Goddesses would essentially be helping Ren secure his bloodline and strengthen the future legitimacy of his branch of the Imperial Family. There was no reason for women closely connected to Aditya to provide such an advantage to his greatest political enemy.
She could not even comfortably discuss the possibility with Ren.
Knowing his temper and his hatred toward Aditya, there was a very good chance that Ren would become angry the moment she suggested seeking help from women standing on his brother’s side.
Even if she somehow managed to convince him that the blessing was purely for the sake of producing an heir, there was an even greater problem. Ren would never lower his head before Aditya.
As the reigning Emperor, asking his younger cousin’s brother’s women for such an important favor would be humiliating both personally and politically. It could easily be interpreted as Ren admitting that there were things he could not obtain without Aditya’s help.
And she herself would never allow Ren to lower his head in front of anyone. Not especially for her sake.
’I wonder if the Organisation have any way to help me.’ Of course she knew about the Organisation. She was in fact a scout level member of the Organisation. She joined the organisation after becoming Ren’s lover.
Ren helped her become a member of the Organisation so that Ren could tell her about the Organisation. She was the only person in this whole world from whom Ren never hid a secret. From this fact, it could be seen that Ren genuinely Loved her.
’I wonder if the Organization has any way to help me.’ Of course, she knew about the mysterious Organization and understood far more about it than most people in the world. She was actually a Scout-level member herself, having officially joined sometime after becoming Ren’s lover.
It was Ren who had arranged for her to become a member. The Organization had many secrets that its members were forbidden from revealing to outsiders, so bringing her into its ranks allowed Ren to freely tell her about his involvement and everything he knew without violating its rules.
She was the only person in the world from whom Ren did not hide any of his secrets. Whether it involved the Imperial Family, the civil war, or even the Organization itself, he trusted her enough to tell her everything.
That alone showed just how deeply Ren genuinely loved and trusted her. Their relationship had long since gone beyond her former identity as a courtesan and his position as the Emperor. In Ren’s eyes, she was the one and only person in this world before whom he did not need to hide anything.
’The mysterious Organization has existed for an incredibly long time and possesses countless rare tools, treasures, and methods. There might actually be something that can help me.’
The more she considered the possibility, the more reasonable it seemed. The Organization possessed resources and knowledge that even the Imperial Family could not easily obtain. More importantly, its Leader, Leo, had lived for more than one million years.
’Surely, someone like Leader Leo must know of a way.’
She did not expect a guaranteed solution, especially considering how difficult it was for powerful Dragons to produce offspring. However, if there was anyone outside the Goddesses who might know of another method to improve her chances of conceiving Ren’s child, then the mysterious Organization was probably her best option.
