Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1075:- The Cost of Kindness
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
Aditya, Wahid, and everyone stared at everything with mixed reactions.
Wahid looked really sad. He grew up in that mansion, and now everything was gone. The deep and rich history, the childhood memories, his favourite things, the treasury, everything was gone.
Wahid’s two wives wanted to comfort their husbands, but both women were barely holding on.
Zahira hugged Wahid’s other wife, Runa, who was silently weeping while staring at the large crater where just a moment ago their home stood.
Watching the family grieving, Aditya felt really bad. Since the moment they met him, they have shown nothing but love to him. Yet, because they were connected to him, they also had to suffer.
’This is partially my fault.’ Aditya felt he was partially to blame for this. He also felt really sad because this place held so many sweet and fond childhood memories.
"Don’t blame yourself," Athena whispered into his ear.
He turned around and stared at her, looking surprised.
’How did she...?’
"Seeing your expression, I can pretty much guess what you are feeling and thinking right now."
Meanwhile, the servant who brought the letter and the gift box was horrified. He never expected the gift box to actually contain a bomb.
’I have to flee.’ Without looking back, while everyone was busy weeping and grieving, he ran to run with all his might.
"Where the hell do you think you are going?" Although Aditya was also sad, he did not forget the man who bought the gift box inside the Mansion.
Aditya teleported in front of the servant. Holding back his strength, he slapped the servant. Despite holding back, the slap on his right cheek sent him flying a few meters behind Wahid. Wahid turned around and saw the face of the servant.
Seeing Wahid’s cold, frosty face, the servant trembled in fear. He had never seen his lord this angry.
Aditya grabbed the guy by his collar and lifted him a few meters off the ground.
"You said there were many boxes." Aditya’s eyes turned dragon red.
The man nervously nodded his head. He felt as if he were being held by death. He was so afraid and scared that he felt suffocated.
"How did all these boxes enter the Mansion without being checked thoroughly?" Everyone coldly looked at the servant.
"I....."
"We were paid."
"Who are we?" Aditya pressed on. Usually, the people working for the Organisation were extremely difficult to break. Most of them would rather die than reveal any useful information.
But this servant was different.
The moment real pressure was applied, the man completely collapsed mentally. His face had already turned pale from fear, and his entire body trembled uncontrollably while kneeling on the ground before everyone.
Since he was just a tool at the bottom rank of the organisation, they did not make him and other scouts sign any soul-binding contract to prevent them from talking about the organisation. Not like these people knew much about the organisation to begin with. At most, they could tell about the information that they gave to the League of Black Tomb.
"There are fifteen servants inside the mansion who are involved in this. Our job was to leak sensitive information to a mysterious figure wearing a black hood. Every time we provided valuable information, we were paid handsomely."
"How did all the boxes get inside the mansion without being checked?" Aditya asked once again, his voice growing colder.
"The guards responsible for checking incoming goods allowed us to carry everything inside without inspection." The moment those words were spoken, Wahid nearly lost control of his emotions.
To think that his own servants had become this rotten despite everything the Harrington family had done for them made his blood boil.
The servants of the Harrington family were treated far better than the servants working under other Dukes and noble houses. Their salaries were among the highest in the entire Empire. Not only that, they received countless benefits and protections that ordinary servants elsewhere could only dream of having.
Their children were given access to high-level education completely free of cost. If someone within a servant’s family showed cultivation talent, the Harrington family would even provide cultivation resources and opportunities to help them grow stronger. Many servant families received tax reductions, financial support, medical treatment, housing benefits, and guaranteed protection under the Harrington banner.
Even relatives connected to loyal servants often received preference in jobs and opportunities throughout the territory.
Most importantly, servants within the Harrington household were never treated as disposable tools. They were spoken to respectfully and treated with dignity. Abuse and mistreatment were strictly forbidden within the household.
Yet despite receiving all of this...They still betrayed the family. That was the part Wahid found hardest to accept.
"You guys were a part of an organisation called the League of Black Tomb." The guy nervously nodded his head. He had heard of this name just once when he was given the option of becoming a scout.
Hearing this, Wahid lost his mind. He took out a red butcher knife.
Wahid put the Red Butcher Knife on the servant’s right shoulder.
"Did you know that there were bombs in those gift boxes?" The servant shook his head.
"I did not...!!!"
With a single strike, Wahid diagonally cut the servant’s body in half. He did not hear anything else. He had heard enough.
Wahid looked at the massive crater where once his house and countless memories stood. He stared at the crater in silence for a few seconds before speaking.
"It’s a good thing that every servant died. At least, all the betrayers are now dead."
"Saves me the hassle of carefully finding all the moles and removing them one by one." This was the only source of comfort that Wahid could give to himself. But the cost that came with this was just too high.
"My Lord, are you alright?" Just then hundreds of soldiers rushed towards Wahid and surrounded the rest of the family members.
These were the soldiers who were left. Commander Vardy felt that there was no need to take these few thousand soldiers with him. Aside from the thousands upon thousands of soldiers guarding the city and patrolling the city, these few thousand troops were left as reserves within Axel City.
Wahid just nodded his head.
"My Lord, what happened?" The Captain of these few thousand troops stepped forward and asked.
But Wahid did not give him a straight response. Instead, he issued a new command. "We are under attack. The enemy misled Commander Vardy; as a result, Vardy and most of our troops are now stranded outside of the city because of the barrier that surrounds the entire City."
"No wonder my wife could not teleport out of the city." The captain replied to himself in a very low tone. His response was a small, faint murmur, but Wahid and the rest clearly heard him.
Hearing this, Wahid’s expression became even colder.
"Why did it take so long to come here?" Wahid asked in a cold tone. In an emergency situation, it was expected that the soldiers would group together within 60 to 90 seconds.
"Sir, we first went to look for Commander Vardy, but we could not find him. Then we learned that Commander Vardy had gone out with most of the troops to stop a huge wave of Magic Animal horde that was charging towards the City."
"The fireworks made it difficult for us to regroup. Not to mention, the two other explosions also diverted our attention." He almost sent his men to investigate the two explosions, but stopped as he also suspected that the city might be under attack.
"We were close to the Mansion when the explosion happened. Around a few hundred of my men died in the explosion." The sudden explosion had caught everyone off guard. Not even in their wildest dreams did they expect that the entire Mansion of the Harrington Family would be destroyed in a massive explosion.
But Wahid wasn’t buying into his explanation. Just because he was understanding and kind towards them, he was going to endure lies, especially at this critical moment, where the entire city was under attack, and the entire Mansion had been blown to nothing.
Wahid stepped forward and grabbed the Captain by his throat.
"Do you think I am stupid?" Wahid was like a beast that was trying to suppress its rage to the point of consuming his actions and mind.
"You just murmured that you could not teleport your wife outside of the city." From this one sentence, everything became clear as to why their response timing was so slow. Even though not more than 3 to 4 minutes had passed since all of this began, it was too slow.
The standard protocol of responding to an emergency situation was between 60 and 90 seconds. And as cultivators, 60 to 90 seconds were more than enough.
"While being on active duty, you were spending time with your wife. If not for this whole event, I would have never known that the soldiers whom I trust so much are betraying my trust in this manner." Wahid was very disappointed in them. Even the word disappointment would be an understatement in this situation.
The Captain could only lower his head in shame and fear.
"Uncle, deal with this later. For now, some guests come to see us." Hearing this, Wahid let go of the Captain.
Following Aditya’s line of sight and the direction in which he was looking, he saw several figures standing in the crater that was formed from the explosion.

Really, thank you very much to all those who sent support with valuable golden tickets and gifts. I hope we can keep it up!!!
