Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1040:- Wrath Meets Madness
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
"His Majesty, the Emperor of the Celestial Dragon Empire, is about to enter." Every gaze locked onto the entrance.
The freshly crowned Emperor of the Celestial Dragon Empire donned a splendid golden dragon robe. This expansive, billowing garment, woven from dense and weighty cloth, bore gleaming golden dragon designs that twisted over his chest, arms, and back. Broad sleeves cascaded effortlessly, while the lofty collar encircled his neck, amplifying his formidable presence.
With the faintest movement, the material shifted languidly, and the robe's trailing hem grazed the floor even as he remained motionless. A darker traditional undergarment peeked from below, providing sharp contrast to the brilliant gold exterior.
Standing at 6 feet 2 inches, he possessed broad shoulders and a powerful chest. His build showed subtle musculature, highlighted by prominently sculpted biceps. Black boots completed his attire.
His hair was spiked and cropped extremely short, no longer than 1.5 inches.
Emperor Ren possessed striking handsomeness. A sharp, chiseled jawline defined his face. His captivating hazel eyes drew attention. Being clean-shaven lent him a youthful appearance, belying his 491 years. These traits combined to make him exceptionally alluring.
Emperor Ren hadn't come alone. Accompanying him were five others. Four among them ranked as National Treasures and his most loyal confidants. Ren placed such faith in these National Treasures that he was certain they, along with his friend, would remain steadfast even if all others betrayed him.
Trailing a few paces behind Ren walked the newly named Prime Minister, Murphy Barajas.
At the doorway, Ren halted and fixed his stare on Harrington. As their icy glares clashed, a chill swept through the hall, dropping the temperature sharply. Even dukes from opposing factions began to perspire.
’If these two clash right now, we’re doomed.’ Numerous dukes covertly scanned the area, searching for potential escapes should chaos erupt.
Ren shifted his attention to Sophia, offering her a soft nod. She replied with a assured grin, signaling to all the strength of the faction she had backed during the civil war.
Next, Ren cast a casual look at Renji. The warmth in his expression toward Renji fell short of what he showed Sophia.
Yet Renji pressed a hand to his chest and delivered a respectful bow to the Emperor.
"Hail to the Grand Emperor." Dukes aligned with the Emperor’s side lowered their heads in reverence. Those against him, however, refused to bow or utter any salutations.
To them, Emperor Ren held no legitimate claim as true Emperor.
Though this irked Ren, he held his tongue on the matter.
Without uttering a word first, Ren approached General Nico William’s body and laid a white rose upon his chest.
"Thank you for your service."
"This empire will not forget you."
Witnessing this act, nobles from his faction instantly sensed they had chosen correctly. Such was their Majesty’s true nature. Amid the Empire’s turmoil, he had come personally to honor the slain General with a white rose.
Devoted followers wondered how a leader of such caliber could possibly be blamed for every woe plaguing the Celestial Dragon Empire.
Ren pivoted to confront the assembly. Few dared meet his eyes directly. This sight stirred profound fulfillment and arrogance within him.
This was precisely his desire.
To reign supreme atop the peak, forcing millions—or even billions—to gaze upward in awe.
For he embodied the Emperor, the supreme sovereign of the Celestial Dragon Empire, the mightiest power across the main continent and the entire world.
’Even lacking the organization, I stand beyond reach.’ Ren mused as he surveyed the crowd. He was convinced no force could conquer the Celestial Dragon Empire. United empires would still fall before him as victor.
"It seems many things were spoken in my absence in this place." Ren’s face turned icy and shrewd.
"I want to make one thing perfectly clear."
"I did not exile, my cousin."
"In fact, I fought against Uncle and Aunt to change their minds so that he would not be exiled." Emotion flickered briefly in Ren’s eyes as he spoke.
Yet in the instant that followed, his visage hardened into ruthless chill.
"But now I am the emperor, and as the emperor, it’s my duty to uphold and follow the rules and laws of this empire."
"Aditya is my dear cousin. He is like a little brother to me, but I won’t tolerate anyone standing against me, even if that man is my own blood and like my own little brother."
"And by the laws of this empire, Aditya will be treated like a wanted criminal if he even sets foot on the land of the main continent."
Ren’s gaze settled on his opponents.
"If you guys want to support a criminal, then be my guest. But know that death will be the ultimate punishment for this act of treason."
Ren shifted his gaze toward the nobles who chose to oppose him. "You all should very well understand the consequences of standing against me."
"You can speak all you want, but you are nothing." Malakor unleashed his terrifying killing intent.
"Even your grandfather did not want you to be the emperor. You are nothing but a pathetic disappointment to the royal family." Ren’s expression turned dark at these words. Until now, nobody had dared to insult him in such a manner.
Ren sensed as if both his cheeks were slapped right in front of the crowd. Failure to respond would turn him into a joke across the whole Empire. Harrington’s barbs struck deep into his pride and ego.
"Old man, watch your next words carefully, for I can erase you and your whole family in mere hours." Ren’s voice carried an icy chill.
The very next moment, the auras of the four national treasures exploded behind the emperor, locking onto the faction defying him.
Malakor had no intention of yielding. He drew his massive great sword and released his full cultivation aura to clash against the pressure from the four national treasures.
"Bring it on."
"Death will come towards us one day. But even if I die, I will make sure that I leave you in such a miserable state that you will beg for death to come and get you." Harrington’s aura grew so intense that cracks spread across the concrete floor.
His aura and killing intent shook the entire mansion.
"Emperor Ren, I won’t tolerate any disrespect toward my fiancée. If you don’t stop now, I fear you’ll have to fight right away instead of later." The Goddess of War produced her legendary spear and took position beside Harrington. The rest of the Harrington faction members readied themselves for total war.
’Four National Treasures, the old lunatic Harrington, the Goddess of War, and many other mighty figures. If a battle erupts, we’re all finished.’ Cold sweat dripped from the lower-level nobles.
While numerous lower-level nobles had already departed, those from the William household stayed behind. They pinned their hopes on Lord William to act and prevent this from turning into an all-out brawl. Should that occur, not only the mansion but the whole city would be leveled in seconds.
"Everyone, please! This is my brother’s funeral. I just hope everyone will respect this occasion and show the decency not to start a fight here." Finally, Duke William Cassian stepped in between Harrington and the Emperor, doing everything to soothe the tension.
He couldn’t permit a fight to break out at this point. The heaviest losses would fall on him. Above all, this wasn’t the moment for conflict.
He along with the other Dukes needed to gather and sign the Charter of Noble Reinstatement for Aditya.
Ultimately, Harrington was the first to rein in his raging aura. No one anticipated him taking the lead in calming down. But recognizing Duke Cassian as a friend in a tough spot, Malakor Harrington chose to pull back his killing intent.
"We are not savages. But if this disappointment who thinks that he is the Emperor keeps running his mouth, then I won’t have any problem forcing human shit down that throat of his."
"Harrington!!!!" Ren’s aura exploded more fiercely than ever. Fury turned his eyes blood-red. He nearly lunged at Harrington by himself, but the four National Treasures, Sophia, and Renji restrained him.
"Your Highness, the Former Crown Prince is here."
