Dragon Monarch System Chapter 1020:- Dragon Mountain Range
Previously on Dragon Monarch System...
Once the city faded from sight, concealed by the towering trees, the group finally lifted off into the skies.
Multiple factors drove this choice. Primarily, they needed to scout for any pursuers. Moreover, blasting off immediately after leaving the city might catch the guards' eyes, possibly leading to soldiers forcing them down.
Even a mere 1% suspicion from soldiers that these four could be the fugitives might expose them. The team boasted flawless disguises, with each member playing a distinct role and sporting a fabricated identity for seamless blending. Still, caution trumped regret every time.
Not to mention, trekking on foot would demand 4 to 7 days to hit the Dragon Mountain range's base.
The Grimwood Forest kicked off mere hundreds of meters from the city's Western gate. Foot travel not only dragged their pace but invited encounters with mighty magic beasts.
Thus, rocketing at top speed straight to the Dragon Mountain range proved wiser.
"Aditya!" Rin called out abruptly.
"What is it?" He turned to her with worry.
"I feel like I’m extremely close to breaking through." At her words, everyone halted mid-flight.
"Really?" Aditya lit up with joy for Rin.
"I am proud of you." He pulled her into a tight embrace, planting kisses on her lips and cheeks. Her advancement thrilled him more than hitting a New Order himself.
Hehe.....!!!
The Goddess of Music beamed with delight at the group's joyful response.
Rin had hit Peak 5th-order long ago. Further progress stalled because cultivation across the six continents capped at peak fifth order.
She'd hit a wall where cultivation ceased. Her power had advanced so far that suppressing it grew tough. Even brief cultivation sessions could spark the heavenly tribulation for advancing from Peak 5th order to beginner sixth order.
Peak 5th-order cultivators from the six continents often triggered Heavenly Tribulation upon entering the Tunnel World. Many lingered there deliberately to breakthrough instead of pushing ahead.
For 5th-order cultivators from the Six Continents, stepping into the Tunnel World or Main Continent felt utterly alien. Their cultivation vessel brimmed to bursting. Their core strained, unable to contain more energy, ready to explode under slightest pressure.
Rin faced the identical bind.
During over a day in dwarf tribe lands, while Aditya met folks, she cultivated in secret.
She knew her power fell short. Reaching Beginner sixth order would let her stand against sixth-order foes.
"Unfortunately, we cannot stop here for Rin to make a breakthrough." Athena scanned warily. Lingering boosted the organization's odds of pinpointing them.
Besides, none could challenge a Seventh-order cultivator now. If the group dispatched a seventh-order powerhouse or packs of Peak sixth-order ones, doom awaited.
"If a heavenly tribulation is triggered, then this will get the attention of the nearby sleeping magic beasts, and also the guards from the city will definitely come here to investigate." No matter who showed, disaster loomed.
Grasping the peril, Rin nodded and resolved to bottle her cultivation longer.
"Aditya, we have a problem now." These weren't regular wolves. Known as Stormfang Wolves, this rare breed thrived in lofty heights. Their hulking frames towered nearly 3 meters (10 feet) high, stretching over 6 meters (20 feet) nose to tail.
Their coats blended deep silver and dark blue, laced with glowing lightning-like streaks beneath the skin. Golden eyes blazed with cunning and fury. As 5th-order magic beasts, their smarts rivaled humans.
Unlike typical wolves, energy wings sprouted from their backs for swift aerial mastery. Curved claws and fangs could shred reinforced armor.
"Wolves of that power scale don’t need to rely on hunting or eating to survive. Why are they attacking us?"
"That’s because we must have stopped in their territory," Athena clarified, having faced such ambushes before.
"Their territory extends up to the air as well?" Rin blurted. Athena nodded silently.
"This species of magic wolf is extremely territorial and violent. They would rather die than let someone else take their territory."
"The worst part, even if their leader died, these wolves will instantly make someone else their new leader and continue attacking."
"Then kill them all." Crimson lightning crackled from his form. Once fully cloaked in it, he vanished.
In mere seconds, before the girls' stunned eyes, Aditya chained nineteen blistering teleports. Each blur defied naked-eye tracking, leaving only ghostly flickers in the heavens.
On the twentieth, he reappeared casually at start.
For an instant, silence gripped the scene.
Then, the alpha wolf's head slipped free, plummeting. Its colossal corpse chased moments later.
One by one, the pack suffered the same fate. Heads cleanly severed, bodies rained from above.
In seconds, Aditya decapitated the entire Stormfang pack, erasing them utterly.
His display left the girls awestruck anew. These moments highlighted his beginner fifth-order terror.
Previously, he felled hordes of fifth-order foes. Now, his slaughter efficiency soared to godlike heights.
"Let’s continue!"
The squad pressed on toward the Dragon Mountain range.
In two hours, they arrived. Purple haze and peaks confirmed it.
"Aditya, there is still time to turn around and head back." The true horror lay not in ancient beasts evolved over eons to wield the purple fog masterfully.
The fog itself terrified most.
This mist warped even mighty cultivators' senses so badly that, mere 10 meters (32 feet) from Dragon Mountain Range's exit, direction vanished.
Disorientation reigned as reality twisted.
Endless cultivators still roamed lost inside, circling blindly, clinging to escape dreams.
"I came to this place with a plan. I need you girls to trust me with this." Aditya gazed earnestly at them.
Before quitting, he'd probe first. No alternatives? Retreat. With legions relying on him, blind plunges into eternal purple maze proved folly.
Yet, that burden forbade failure. More precisely, the fitting term was
